By my count, that's over 600 cards going to Texas! That's awesome!

there is just shy of 4K actually... and you can find that number in the top of the gallery if you look at it it says image one of 3958... so, I am guessing that with all the "extra" cards that people are sending I bet we will hit 4K

Way to go, Kim!!

You have echoed what so many other stampers have felt - to be a small part of this wonderful month of making a huge difference in the lives of those who need encouragement and HOPE has been so rewarding and shows the spirit of the ladies here on SCS.

Give yourselves all a HUGE PAT ON THE BACK - y'all done GOOD!

Lydia will probably start a new thread for the prize drawings and winners sometime next week. It usually takes several days after the uploading deadline for all the necessary reports to be run. This year we have a weekend right after the deadline, so it could take a few days longer than in the past.

Hotwheels, I know the moderators are busy checking the galleries, so it may be a while. It may be at least another week. Hang in there!

Just edited the six cards that I hadn't put a lot of details on, so that is that for another year.

Thank you so much to all the hostesses and moderators, your time and energy is much appreciated.

Don't forget VSN mini on now and main in December if your feeling a little lost.

Cheers

Well done ladies, we have 3,986 cards in the HYCCT gallery...whoo whoo! I'm glad to be a part of the card drive, it was fun & challenging especially the last few days where I just made cards without even sleeping.

That was just based on a rough count of what had been shared in the thread. I knew there had to be way more than that.

I always wondered about that, myself. Are there boxes of cards collecting dust or do they find willing recipients? If they were overloaded I would hope they would let Lydia know so maybe the wealth could be spread regionally around the US & Canada.

Mailed my box off to Texas today. I went through my stash as well and sent a bunch of extra cards. Let me tell you that flat rate box from the post office was packed full!!!! When they open it, it's going to be like a jack-in-a-box.........cards popping out all over

I mailed my box today too, I ended up making 101 cards this year plus I have a couple of people that sent me some hand made cards to send as well. I have a lot of card making friends on the Face Book group, that by next October there's going to be a lot more cards because they all want to join in the fun & for a great cause.

Thanks Theresa it was a rush but "O" so worth it. Hope to have all my cards boxed and posted by Friday.

I have found 28 other cards I would like to include but quite a few of them need inserts so thats what I will be doing after work on Wednesday and Thursday.

Have decided to do the colour challenge tonight just because I can't quite let go

Hugs

I totally hear you on the extra cards found that need inserts and packaging. That is my task I set myself for tonight so I can get everything out of the way, and on it's way.

I've been doing a post HYCCT purge. Extra cards were found, two boxes of stuff for local kids craft and two boxes of rubbish already out the door. I then had a crazy notion to rearrange some of the craft room furniture today, so now the room looks really frightful right at this moment. It'll be worth it when I have everything back in order.

I have no idea, but there is another hospital within walking distance and at least 6 in the medical district. So I'm guessing they don't go to waste.

I have to buy envelopes and pick up a flat rate box at the po. I only have the shirt box shape and I'm afraid the cards will get squished. I think postage is enough now that it would be cheaper to drive them there, but I don't know that they would appreciate that very much.

I know it would be cheaper for me to drive there since it's like 30 minutes away. lol I need to figure out a good shipping option; I saw that Angie used a photo box from Michael's and I'm wondering if that's cheaper than flat rate.

I still need to work on inserts and packaging mine up. I got motivated to clean and organize my room, so I have to get stuff back off my desk before I can work on anything. Hopefully my Amazon order comes early today so I can work on my sequins and clear stamps later.

Rita, I mailed 37 cards and it was cheaper for me to send them that way. I think I spent 1.60 on the box when it was on sale. My total came just under 10.00 for shipping and if I am not mistaken the size I would need to ship flat rate was 15.65? or something close to that.

I met up with a friend over the weekend who works there and gave her my box of cards along with the contacts name. She is going to hand deliver for me and I know I have recruited another participant for next year. She and I are going to start on making cards now for our local Ronald McDonald houses and we also have a few assisted living facilities near by that could use some cheering up. It would be nice if Lydia or whomever coordinated this effort to see what their needs are and if they have a stock pile, suggest that they share with the other local hospitals. As someone said earlier, there are 6 other hospitals near by in the Medical Center that I'm sure would love a few of the cards. Its nice to share the love!

At least 50 cards will fit in the medium flat rate box for $12.95. I believe that's right. I know it was 12 something.

Well, depending on where her office is located my children might not be allowed in. I know when my grandmother was treated there (which was ages ago so not the most up to date info) no one under 12 was allowed past the first floor unless they were a patient. Nana came down to the cafeteria to see us with her IV in tow.

I still need to work on inserts and packaging mine up. I got motivated to clean and organize my room, so I have to get stuff back off my desk before I can work on anything. Hopefully my Amazon order comes early today so I can work on my sequins and clear stamps later.
That's about how far it is for me. And parking for under 2 hours is $6, I think, compared to $13 to mail. But the extra $7 might be absolutely worth not having the hassle of parking in the Medical Center, lol! I wonder if my neighbor would take them? He works in research. Of course, that might not even be in the same building...

Btw, I really don't mind the money to mail them! I know a lot of you spend A LOT of money to mail them from overseas! Being in Houston, though, I have always sort of wanted to deliver them by hand and get a peek at what it's like from their end. But I don't want to be a bother either.

I do like the flat rate boxes because I can stuff them full.

Those of you who haven't yet mailed your cards - you might want to check into the Regional Rate boxes vs. the Flat Rate boxes. You should be able to pick these up for free at your local post office.

Priority Mail Regional Rate Box - A1

A few weeks ago I used a Regional Rate Box A1 (10" x 7" x 4.75") to mail 100 cards with envelopes to Operation Write Home. The cards weren't heavily embellished with thick stuff and there was room in the box to spare. I folded up several weeks' worth of Sunday comics to fill in the spaces and pack the cards in tighter. It cost me $9.97 to ship from Virginia to Washington state.

I'm really out-of-date!

But it still would be fun to try...all they can say is not today!
