I cant believe how fast this month went...only two days left for hycct...I am going to have to hire someone to clean up the dining room it is trashed. Lydia the picture you saw from last year was cleaned compared to this years...Any others in the same boat as me?
I was thinking as I was going to bed last night, after having caught up with current challenges, that I could divert some of my attention to doing a clean up. I'm stepping over stuff to get to my desk at the moment. I think 15 -20 mins devoted to putting things away would be wise.
Nothing like the thought of company coming to motivate tidying up...
I used to only vacuum when the kids were outside or napping, but of course I would pull it out whenever anyone was coming over. It got to the point that if they ever saw me with the vacuum they'd get all excited and ask, "Who's coming over?"
My house drives my mom nuts because she is not only clean, but super orderly. The best I can manage is clean. Homeschooling and 6 kids has made for a pretty good excuse, but I wasn't ever and never will be as good a housekeeper as my mom. I like to think that I make up for it in other ways. ;)
WOW! I was looking at the past and saw we'd had three on the first day. Duh, I should have looked at the spreadsheet for the current year. I guess you can tell I haven't been using it up to this point.
I even have a spreadsheet with a link to each of my cards so I don't have to try and do that at the last minute! I'm assuming we add a post with a link to each card like we did in DTGD...
I don't use the spread sheet either and I'm not familiar with where to find it. I knew one of our spread sheet aficionados would have the info I was after ;)
Oh, yikes, three on the last day? I was feeling really good because I'm only one behind, but have so much going on this week, I was thinking I only had 3 to go to complete them all! I was aiming for having them all completed on the 31st ~ guess I will be working into the weekend. I sure am glad I found this wonderful card drive (how did I miss it in past years, I'm not sure), it has been an honor to participate along with all the wonderful people involved with this!

Now that I know how to salvage my starbursts I might be able to use another one on one of the remaining challenges. I've got a nice pile of useful scraps accumulated on my desk that could be turned into a decent card should the right inspiration be posted in the next couple of days.
Once again I'm ready for a fresh tomorrow and a new challenge...my stamp table is usable...but not clean...and yet not as full as it was before I started tonight!
Had fun playing for a purpose!

I took a photo of my table the other day, and I haven't cleaned it since then, so I don't dare take another photo. Things are falling off the edges, and I have about a 6-inch spot to work in.
I made 6 cards today and am only 2 behind right now (until tomorrow morning). I really think I'm going to be able to get a card made for each challenge. It has been hard, and other things have been put aside for the duration.
I really like the way most of the challenges were done this year, with a theme, but we could choose our own techniques. They were a lot more flexible, and I got to do some things that I wanted to try.
Unfortunately, I've had very little time in the galleries. I'm so sorry about that, but I hope to find time to do that before hycct is all over. Thanks so much for those who have commented on my cards. Congrats to everyone who has uploaded a lot of fantastic art work.
This is sort of related to today's challenge, to honor an elder. My card's a memorial to my sister, who taught me to sew. She suffered a fatal stroke last spring. I asked for a few of her shirts to sew into quilts for her daughter and four great grand-daughters. I finished them and shipped them last week. My niece just e-mailed this picture of them with their "Grape Grandma" quilts. Timely?
Brenda, as I was glancing at some of the posts that I've missed, I saw people talking about your quilts, so I had to go back several pages to find them. They are beautiful - obviously a work of love. And you have a lovely family wrapped up in them also. Thanks for letting us see these treasures.
Oye, only 2 days left of the month! I think I have a dozen cards made for the challenges but whew! Work just messes up my craft time! I'm usually not able to start on these until after Oct 15, sometimes later like this year. I haven't taken the time to take pictures & upload any yet. It's either too dark or too bright when I think of doing it. Thanks for sharing the ideas on the light box, I could use one! Maybe with the time change Sat/Sun I can make some time in the morning next week to take some pics before work. October means not much other than work & card challenges get done around here. Speaking of cleaning, I finally broke down & washed the dishes this evening. DH is away at work & I've been feasting on leftovers. It's nice not to have to cook dinner for awhile but I felt a week of dishes (for one) piling up was long enough (or has it been 2...). I could have made at least 1.5 cards instead of doing dishes! I'm glad DH isn't home to see the rest of the mess and so I can craft random late night/early morning hours for these last 2 weeks. I should head to bed now but a big inky paper magnet is pulling me the other direction.
I'm enjoying the mix of challenges! I keep a list of them handy to think on and in the evening I work on whichever one inspires me at the moment. Being a few weeks behind, I have a nice variety to choose from.

I'm of the "clean" is sufficient school. I think if you have any interests/hobbies it's hard to be super-tidy unless you have a lot more space than we do. We have books and music all over the house!
PSA - for those now in the groove of a card (or more) a day, the VSN mini is on Friday 1st, kicking off at 5 PM eastern, and will help you with your withdrawal symptoms . It's Snow Good, we'll be moving out of the pink zone into a winter theme (Northern hemisphere!!).
After a month of creating cards for a wonderful good cause, this gives us a chance to add a few cards to our Christmas supply .
I have not participated in a VSN for a couple of years. I remember I would get lost to the world in my VSN mode. Good times! That was back when I was foot loose and fancy free. I should make a commitment to book myself a VSN date in the new year. Definitely cant make this one as I'm booked out for a brief hospital stay this weekend.

There are only 2 VSN challenges Fri AND they can be combined with any of the HYCCT challenges! ;)
I'm getting better with the forum page so maybe I can actually find the threads all by myself this time!
LOL. There's a link to the overall VSN forum in my post just a few back. You can be like Hansel and Gretel following the trail of breadrcumbs .
Between today's card and Kathleen's one on Sunday, I've been managing to use up a lot of scraps from my desk and turn them into cards.
My poor little sick girl. She started on antibiotics for her strep throat yesterday and her throat already felt a little better today, but she's been feeling sick to her stomach. Now she's vomiting again. :(
Good morning ladies, hope you all have a great day!
I'm caught up except today's of course, always have to do that after work. Although, I have lots made for my extras, these extras are not from my stash....I've been making several extras to reach my goal this year. I'm having so much as this challenge means a lot to me each year I participate.

Oh, that's just so miserable and icky for her! I hope she's past the worst soon.
I doubt that I'll have time for the VSN mini, but I might do some challenges in the VSN main. About now, my focus turns to Christmas as I have gifts to make for my S.S. ladies and I have to finish my CCC13 Christmas cards. I'm only 4 months behind on those. Then before I know it there will be holiday events, Christmas music concerts, and parties to go to.
