I haven't done this, but did a little internet research on the technique. Looks like folks have used pigment inks, archival inks like Brilliance, and Stazon with success. They say to stay away from dye inks, as they will bleed on people's hands and faces when used.

Also they said to use the heavier (3 ply napkins) for the best results.

I saw some wedding napkins that used Memento ink that looked good.

Sounds like a fun project.

Here is a google search link with images. Most of the images are pretty simple. It might be harder to do quotes with lots of lettering.
