Ready for a new Mix-Ability challenge?!! We hope you're having fun with these! Our goal is to make mixed media, easy, approachable and FUN! We want to convince you that no matter what your style is - you can DO it!

This week your challenge is to add a pop of color, but not in the usual way....

Here's the theory. All color falls into what's known as a color wheel, a continuum of colors and their combinations.

The color wheel is divided into two halves, warm and cool.

Warm colors are reds, oranges and yellows.

Cool colors are greens, blues, and purples.

The challenge:

Use all cool colors and then add a "pop" of warm color to your project...

--OR--

Use all warm colors and then add a "pop" of cool color to your project.

• --Feel free to use black and white as well.
• --You can use any coloring mediums you choose, but remember this is "mixed media", so mix it up a bit with 2 or more media types.

I have a few samples attached below, and also a video of my creative process on one of those cards! Hope you enjoy it - I had fun making the card and the video, and even learned a couple things along the way!

I really enjoy your video tutorials Dina!! How much of your work is planned out and how much is spontaneous?? I would imagine for the videos you would pretty much have to plan things out. You are such an awesome artist.

That's a great question! It depends on the day. I usually have a general plan for how I want the layout, blocks of color, etc. but the layers can sometimes evolve in unexpected ways. In the video you can see one example of something that didn't work and an example of a happy accident. The nice thing about working with acrylics is that if I don't like something, I can layer over it. Not all mediums are that forgiving.

You make it look so easy...you wouldn't believe how many pieces of paper I threw away because they looked like crap!!! But I'm glad to accept the challenge to play, experiment and learn to use mixed media!

Dina, this is a great challenge, especially if we take it to the level of your samples and video. Now, there is no way I'm going to try combining all those techniques, media and textures on one card, but I do love the way yours turned out. It looked like so much fun.

I created one today! Thanks for the fun challenge. I will say I had a hard time getting my pop of cool correct, and I am not certain I have it right now....There are 3 other colors of DP under the current one!

Dina, your video was really inspiring, you make it look so easy too, I love the way your card turned out.
I must admit to only having distress inks as I've only just started trying to get into stamping but you have inspired me to have a go at those techniques and textures.
