Default Best place to buy A2 envelopes in bulk?

I've started a card ministry at our church and I am working with a very small budget. Where is a good place to buy A2 envelopes in bulk?

If by A2, you mean the standard size card (4/14x51/2) envelopes you can get them at Staples or Office Depot. They usually come in a box of 250. I think you pay like $4.00 or somethin' like that. That's where I get mine. They have plain white and manilla.

Or take a look online. ActionEnvelope.com has pretty good prices and a huge variety of colors.

Well, they DO have them at Staples and Office Max, but they are more like $13.00 per hundred. I would LOVE to pay $4.00 a box!

I get some at Walmart. Probably wouldn't live up to the quality some people like, but they work for me.

Do you have a paperzone near you? They have a box of 250 for about $15... works out to about 5-6 cents per envelope.

Good luck!

Staples and other big box office stores do have larger quantity boxes. And the quality isn't bad. But $4 for box of 250? I wish but No Way! I just priced some the other day there and I think it was about $9 for a box of 100.

Currently, I buy mine at WalMart just for the convenience. They have a box of 60 for about $4.50. The quality isn't quite as nice as other places, but I figure that as long as my cards get to where they are going, it doesn't matter if the envelope is super nice. It only gets ripped open and tossed anyway.

If you need to buy a lot of envelopes though, online would probably be your best bet.

I just bought a box of 1000 A2 envelopes for $26.00 from clearbags.com. It's the cheapest I've found. They are nice quality, too, with the squared back instead of the point. Shipping is quite a bit, though. A box of envelopes that size is heavy. But I stock up on other envelopes as well. I got 350 A1 for less than $10.00, recycled A2 envies (a splurge on my part 'cause I think they're cool brown paper, sort of a cross between kraft and a paper bag) 200 for $16.80, 2 packs of 50 red and green envies for my mom at $3.85 each. Like I said, I only order like this maybe once a year. I thought shipping was reasonable - $13.49 for the 19 pound box, via UPS. So there's more than you ever wanted to know!

I've bought my last 2 batches from anchor paper.

Under $10 for 250 and their service can't be beat! I'd love to hear more about your card ministry, Marji! I started one at our church last spring and it's been such a blessing!

If you buy A2 envelopes in bulk that are not SU, can you use them as demo and just keep it a secret?

How are you going to sell a customer on the quality of SU!'s envelopes if you don't let them see how great they are? I know that some Demos buy cheap envies, but as a former Demo I always gave my customers the good stuff. I do believe that it might be against the contract as well, but I've been wrong in the past. ;-)

How do they feel compared to SU!'s, that is if you've ever had the opportunity to compare them.

I think this post has turned the wrong way- lol! I'm not trying to demo or sell anything at my church. I am merely involved in starting our card ministry and the budget we are working with is very small - that's why I'm trying to find them in bluk for a cheap price.
I love SU envelopes and would use them if I could, but our budget just doesn't allow for it.

They are similar, but the SU ones feel more velvety, if that makes sense. If you PM me your address I'd be happy to send you one.

Sorry for going a bit off-topic. I wasn't suggesting that you need to use SU! envelopes--just responding to question of other poster. It looks like the link to Emily's blog might be informative for all of us. Good luck with your ministry!

I buy mine at the local paper company. I know not everyone has one locally but I know places like Xpedx are all over the country. (But don't go looking for their stores on their site--I have never found all the stores on there and I can't figure out why!) My local company is Lewis Paper and I pay about $12-$14 for 250 envelopes.

Debra (above) seems to have found a great deal but I couldn't find anything that inexpensive on clearbags site. The best I found was Mohawk at $61 per thousand envelopes. Maybe she has a link to the envelopes she found?

I generally get my white envelopes invitation sized ones at www.clearbags.com. They are $37.00 including the shipping for 1000. I normally order 2000 at a time, I think they are E-120 item. And the total for 2000 delivered to my door is $84.00. This is the best deal I have found.
Blessings.

Here's the link. http://www.clearbags.com/?category|ENVCOLS . Just scroll down to #15, Bone White A2 envelopes. Click on "Add" and then enter the quantity of 1000. It will show $26.00. Again, I have to say these are really nice envelopes.

I got mine on ebay - I think it was 250 for $12-13. Joann Fabrics sells them in 'bulk' (100/box) and you can use a Michaels or Joanns discount coupon against that price.

Ahh...looking in the wrong place, of course!

Thanks for the links. I will have to consider ordering these instead of buying them locally.

Thanks again!

I just spent 2 hours looking at pretty much every site that Google brought up, although there are some great prices, Your Paper Source - ShopAnchorPaper.com which is what Lisa Loiselle, said is pretty much the best price. It breaks down to 5 cents an envelope... and have the square flap. (which I prefer) I look forward to seeing them in a couple days. I hope the quality is as good as they look.
Just thought I would share my 2 hours of work with all of you!

I'm curious about their shipping costs. I didn't want to go through the process of registering in order to find out what they would charge to send one box of 250 A2 envelopes to me on the East coast.

Thanks for sharing the results of your detective work! I'll also be interested in hearing what you think of the quality when you receive them.

I'm in Eastern Washington, and Anchor is in Minneapolis, so roughly the same distance to either of us, I would think. I went through the process of registering (I hate that, too! zip code should be enough to calculate shipping) just to find out shipping. One box of 250 was $9.88 cheapest. Four boxes was $13.34. That should give you an idea, I think. It comes to about 5.5 cents each. Not a bad price.

ETA: Meant to say, 5.5 cents in the 4-box price. Obviously the more you buy, the cheaper the per envelope price.

I think clear bags.com still has the best pricing. Going to get mine from there.
