Challenge Title: It's a Costume Party!!
Hostess: Understandblue
Keyword: HYCCT1131
Date: Monday, October 31, 2011

I can't believe we are already at the end of this wonderful month of challenges! It has been an amazing experience and your creations have lifted the spirits of so many people and will continue to as the final packages make their way to Houston. I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your talent with us for such a meaningful purpose!!

************************************************** ************

So since it's Halloween today, I thought that we would all have a costume party!!

I want each of you to "disguise" yourselves in a stamping style that is not your own at all for this costume party.

So if you are a CAS (Clean and Simple) stamper - you have to make a vintage, or busy or shabby chic card.

If you normally make "foofy" cards with ribbons and bows and layers, you have to be a CAS stamper today!

If you're normally steampunk and ATC in your style, you have to make a cute bunny card...

Get my drift? Get your stamping costumes on!!

For my sample, I made a 3D item, because I am so NOT a box/bag/3D girl - I'm too impatient!!

Oh my...what about if you're a stamper that's "all over the place" like I am...I never did find my style...still trying to decipher that. FUN challenge and a great way to wind things down...thanks for all your hard work and coordination!

Cook22 10-31-2011 05:52 AM

Oh - what a cool idea. There are styles I do occasionally that are definitely not me...
Busy trying out pvilbaum's caramel popcorn for our trick-or-treaters, so I'll think while I watch over it.

You and me both, Jacqueline!! But I'll try to do something different by pulling out a stamp set that I find really difficult to use - would that work, Lydia?

Can't believe it's the last challenge already! This has been a blast!

That's how I feel to Jacqueline! I decided to go with something that I just don't really like doing. I have to run to the bank, hopefully I'll get it up when I get back ;)

Cook22 10-31-2011 06:11 AM

:D, I must say I was thinking the same, I don't have a strong stamping identity. But I'm thinking either a one-layer card or else a very layered card might be a way to go.
I'd still like it to be a nice enough card to want to send in to MDA after all, which wouldn't always be the case when I go outside my norm, LOL.

allee's 10-31-2011 06:20 AM

You're making it tough on us today, Lydia. Guess I'll have to try one of those fancy folds which I usually avoid like the plague!

superjen 10-31-2011 06:23 AM

Oooh! Fancy fold is a good idea. Good thing I have all day to think about it. All week really since this is the only one I haven't done yet. Happy Halloween!

UnderstandBlue 10-31-2011 06:24 AM

Hee hee.... :) I'm making you STRETCH at the end!! :D

And yes Vicki - the stamp set idea is great - I didn't think of that!

Greywolf 10-31-2011 07:04 AM

I agree - this one is hard! I guess I'll go with one of those "resist" backgrounds or one of those techniques that I'm not good at and consider "messy." Not sure I'll get it done today though. I also have 7 other challenges to finish, the hardest one being the one with humor. Too bad we can't combine challenges as a humorous card is definitely not my style.

This has been a terrific month of challenges and I really hope I can get them all made by the 7th. I've been doubling and tripling up each day trying to catch up from being out of town, but I don't seem to be making much headway.

Also, this has been a terrific month of gallery gazing - such fantastic creations and tons more of ideas for future cards. I haven't had as much time to comment as I would like, so will have to do that after I finish the cards.

Thanks to all the hostesses!

muzbysmom 10-31-2011 07:33 AM

I still need to catch up with yesterday's challenge but am off today, tomorrow, and Wednesday so I can see no reason why I can't get two cards done! I'm basically a fairly clean and simple kind of gal and don't even like fancy schmancy (how on earth do you mail some of the cards I've seen made on the gallery?) so I think I'll go out of my comfort zone by trying a new technique or fancy fold like some of the other ladies.

eliotstamps 10-31-2011 07:38 AM

Way to go out with a bang, Lydia! This is a tough one. I'll have to think on an idea while I'm at work. :)

raduse 10-31-2011 07:39 AM

Oh boy!! I'm a little bit of all of the above depending on the mood I'm in while stamping.

HYCCT1131 Magical
What a wonderful idea, a costume party! Since I do very quirky, busy cards, I kept it simple here-I stamped a fairy, colored with my inks, pencils, and blended with my Aqua Painter on a simple white square with rounded corners. Stamp is from Crafty Secrets, purple cardstock is from DCWV. Happy Halloween to all!

stampinsusie 10-31-2011 08:15 AM

I want to thank you for your work in putting together this event. I have 8 or so more cards to make to make all of them. This is such a worthwhile cause. I really haven't stamped this much in a long time. Thank you, again.

newstampinaddict 10-31-2011 08:20 AM

OUCH Lydia... I'm going to have to try something shabby or vintage, I guess...... MAJOR OUCH!

Think it might be time to CASE!

Cook22 10-31-2011 08:20 AM

Lots of layers, a whole bunch of ribbon scraps, NO ink!! I think I'm quite well disguised. What a really needed was a more girlie stamp than anything in my collection.

Still drawn to the idea of a OLC too.

allee's 10-31-2011 08:26 AM

The card I have created is so not my thing! Precision measurement, scoring, and folding, ugh! Please don't look too closely!

Well Lydia...this did represent a challenge! I tried...steampunk. Be gentle with me! LOL!

Lydia, I want to thank you for all your hard work on this wonderful stamping event. It's a cause near and dear to my heart...as I've lost my Mom, my cousin and a former co-worker to breast cancer. So happy to see so many cards headed for Houston for this cause. Mine will be mailed today!

Here's my Steampunk Attempt

superjen 10-31-2011 08:35 AM

Oooh! A new technique is a great idea. Will have to hit the how to forum. On the way in to work I was thinking I should color something. I hardly every color because I'm not good at it and it takes tooooooooo long. Have a great day everyone.

And I agree that the galleries have been AWESOME!

Holstein 10-31-2011 08:43 AM

Lydia, thanks for a great challenge today. Thanks to all the gals that took the time to give us the challenges and samples. This project was a wonderful experience for me. I'm glad Bridget told me about it. I will be shipping all the cards tomorrow. This is my last card. HYCCT1131 thoughts of you by Holstein - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Good morning ladies! I have a card uploaded to today's challenge. It can be found:

HYCCT1131 Butterfly Thanks by muzbysmom - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

My cards are primarily pretty darn simple so today I tried to get elaborate but... that's just not my style! I did pull out my Elegant Edges Cartridge to die cut the shapes on the card and used fancier DP and added pearls. I know by a lot of ladies standards my card isn't as fancy as some but....

Have a great day ladies! Off to figure out how to make paper "ribbon"!

mamaxsix 10-31-2011 09:31 AM

I don't have a very definite style, but this minimalist card was definitely Out of My Box

Cook22 10-31-2011 10:02 AM

Well, DH forgot to enquire from his work colleague exactly what she wants on a card for her twin nieces, so I had another go at this.

what a fun challenge I am usually a clean and simple stamper will have to get "busy". :)

I'm not exactly sure my style...besides train wreck. :) I guess I attempted to do CAS...at least it only took me a few min. to make the card. Does that qualify as simple? :)
Great challenge!
Here is my card.

The flowers and mixed DSP are really not my style. Here is my card for the challenge: Flowers and DSP by amyk3868 - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Thanks for making my first challenge so much fun! Dropping my last batch of cards in the mail today.

Beate 10-31-2011 11:43 AM

Way to push us out of our comfort zone on the very last day of the challenges. Took me a while to get a CAS card going.

catdidit 10-31-2011 12:02 PM

This was soo much fun Lydia! It took me some thinking, because like lots have said, I don't really have a style to me, lol! But this is what I have done for this challenge:

Hang On!

Thanks to everyone that hosted these challenges, I have really enjoyed doing them ALL!!

whim6915 10-31-2011 01:08 PM

Lydia girl, I am telling ya, you made me work hard today and I thank you mightily for that! I am not real sure what I created, my craft room is down to one usable 8 inch by 8 inch square on my work table and I had so much fun making whatever it is.

Here's my last card!!! Lydia, TY sooooooooooooo much for these challenges all month. It feels so good to give back a little.

I made a shaped card because I really only make A2 cards. AND........I'm hoping that a patient who is at the hospital thinking of someone close who is having a baby will be all smiles knowing she can send them this card.

Here's my Costume Party Card!

Okay, since I'm an "all over the place" stamper and I like to try everything I went with something that isn't my normal cuppa.

Here's my Teabag/bold colors card: It's not me

Hopefully someone will like it
