Challenge Title: It's a Costume Party!!
Hostess: Understandblue
Keyword: HYCCT1131
Date: Monday, October 31, 2011
I can't believe we are already at the end of this wonderful month of challenges! It has been an amazing experience and your creations have lifted the spirits of so many people and will continue to as the final packages make their way to Houston. I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your talent with us for such a meaningful purpose!!
************************************************** ************ So since it's Halloween today, I thought that we would all have a costume party!!
I want each of you to "disguise" yourselves in a stamping style that is not your own at all for this costume party.
So if you are a CAS (Clean and Simple) stamper - you have to make a vintage, or busy or shabby chic card.
If you normally make "foofy" cards with ribbons and bows and layers, you have to be a CAS stamper today!
If you're normally steampunk and ATC in your style, you have to make a cute bunny card...
Get my drift? Get your stamping costumes on!!
For my sample, I made a 3D item, because I am so NOT a box/bag/3D girl - I'm too impatient!!

UPLOADING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. All Hope You Can Cling To Challenge Entries must be uploaded to the Hope You Can Cling To Gallery, with the specific challenge keyword, no later than November 7th, 2011 at 12:00 Noon Central Time to be eligible for our fabulous prizes! Post a link to your entry in this thread.
2. You may not combine challenges, but you are welcome to create multiple cards for each challenge.
3. Please remember to put in the correct keyword when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos.
4. Please package all challenge entries with an envelope, protected with a clear plastic bag and mail them to our partner at the UT MD Anderson Cancer Center to benefit patients being treated for breast cancer and their family. We would like for them to receive cards throughout the month of October, but we understand if you'd like to mail all your cards at once.
5. Since these cards will be used by visitors for patients, most should be blank inside, but feel free to send cards with messages of hope for the patients in addition to your challenge cards!

Oh my...what about if you're a stamper that's "all over the place" like I am...I never did find my style...still trying to decipher that. FUN challenge and a great way to wind things down...thanks for all your hard work and coordination!
Oh - what a cool idea. There are styles I do occasionally that are definitely not me...
Busy trying out pvilbaum's caramel popcorn for our trick-or-treaters, so I'll think while I watch over it.

You and me both, Jacqueline!! But I'll try to do something different by pulling out a stamp set that I find really difficult to use - would that work, Lydia?
Can't believe it's the last challenge already! This has been a blast!

That's how I feel to Jacqueline! I decided to go with something that I just don't really like doing. I have to run to the bank, hopefully I'll get it up when I get back ;)
, I must say I was thinking the same, I don't have a strong stamping identity. But I'm thinking either a one-layer card or else a very layered card might be a way to go.
I'd still like it to be a nice enough card to want to send in to MDA after all, which wouldn't always be the case when I go outside my norm, LOL.
Oooh! Fancy fold is a good idea. Good thing I have all day to think about it. All week really since this is the only one I haven't done yet. Happy Halloween!
I agree - this one is hard! I guess I'll go with one of those "resist" backgrounds or one of those techniques that I'm not good at and consider "messy." Not sure I'll get it done today though. I also have 7 other challenges to finish, the hardest one being the one with humor. Too bad we can't combine challenges as a humorous card is definitely not my style.
This has been a terrific month of challenges and I really hope I can get them all made by the 7th. I've been doubling and tripling up each day trying to catch up from being out of town, but I don't seem to be making much headway.
Also, this has been a terrific month of gallery gazing - such fantastic creations and tons more of ideas for future cards. I haven't had as much time to comment as I would like, so will have to do that after I finish the cards.
I still need to catch up with yesterday's challenge but am off today, tomorrow, and Wednesday so I can see no reason why I can't get two cards done! I'm basically a fairly clean and simple kind of gal and don't even like fancy schmancy (how on earth do you mail some of the cards I've seen made on the gallery?) so I think I'll go out of my comfort zone by trying a new technique or fancy fold like some of the other ladies.
What a wonderful idea, a costume party! Since I do very quirky, busy cards, I kept it simple here-I stamped a fairy, colored with my inks, pencils, and blended with my Aqua Painter on a simple white square with rounded corners. Stamp is from Crafty Secrets, purple cardstock is from DCWV. Happy Halloween to all! HYCCT1131 Magical by Crafty Julia - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

I want to thank you for your work in putting together this event. I have 8 or so more cards to make to make all of them. This is such a worthwhile cause. I really haven't stamped this much in a long time. Thank you, again.
Well Lydia...this did represent a challenge! I tried...steampunk. Be gentle with me! LOL!
Lydia, I want to thank you for all your hard work on this wonderful stamping event. It's a cause near and dear to my heart...as I've lost my Mom, my cousin and a former co-worker to breast cancer. So happy to see so many cards headed for Houston for this cause. Mine will be mailed today!
Oooh! A new technique is a great idea. Will have to hit the how to forum. On the way in to work I was thinking I should color something. I hardly every color because I'm not good at it and it takes tooooooooo long. Have a great day everyone.
Lydia, thanks for a great challenge today. Thanks to all the gals that took the time to give us the challenges and samples. This project was a wonderful experience for me. I'm glad Bridget told me about it. I will be shipping all the cards tomorrow. This is my last card. HYCCT1131 thoughts of you by Holstein - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
My cards are primarily pretty darn simple so today I tried to get elaborate but... that's just not my style! I did pull out my Elegant Edges Cartridge to die cut the shapes on the card and used fancier DP and added pearls. I know by a lot of ladies standards my card isn't as fancy as some but....
Have a great day ladies! Off to figure out how to make paper "ribbon"!
This was soo much fun Lydia! It took me some thinking, because like lots have said, I don't really have a style to me, lol! But this is what I have done for this challenge:
Lydia girl, I am telling ya, you made me work hard today and I thank you mightily for that! I am not real sure what I created, my craft room is down to one usable 8 inch by 8 inch square on my work table and I had so much fun making whatever it is.
Here's my last card!!! Lydia, TY sooooooooooooo much for these challenges all month. It feels so good to give back a little.
I made a shaped card because I really only make A2 cards. AND........I'm hoping that a patient who is at the hospital thinking of someone close who is having a baby will be all smiles knowing she can send them this card.
Hooray, I finished my final card on the final day!!! What a great month of creativity! I'll mail my second box off tomorrow. Here's my last challenge card --
