I'd find the desk small - but then, most of my extra space is buried under paper.
And you have some nice extra space on top of those storage units!!

Yeah the desk is tiny. But this is all right behind the couch in my living room so tiny is fine.

Caramel Popcorn

Caramel Popcorn

3 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
6 quarts poppped popcorn

Combine Karo syrup and sugar, bring to a boil. Add condensed milk, bring to a boil. Add butter, cook to soft ball stage.
Pour syrup over popcorn and mix well. Spread out on cookie sheet to cool.
Enjoy!

DH says this went down a bomb in work. It never even got as far as the print room guys, it all got scoffed in his office.
Still leaves us the spare portions I'd wrapped for trick-or-treaters, but at least that's manageable.

So your computer is in the sitting room too?
I really liked it when we had ours in there. My current set-up is the first time that I've had space for the computer and crafting on the same desk - which might or might not be a good thing.

yep everything
I don't have a lap top. We have a small house with BIG bedrooms. So the living area is kitchen, dining area and living room. This is all against one wall and then there is a walking space and couch, chair and love seat area. I wouldn't actually want my stuff away from the family because I like being in the mix while I stamp or work.

DH would envy you the big bedrooms - he's always complaining about how small ours are. I don't think it matters so much for us, but I know when we were kids we always played on the bedroom floor in my parents room in the mornings, or any of the times Mum was stuck in bed with pneumonia. I think a bigger bedroom is nice for family . I know when my brother had an extension built last year, their new bedroom is about twice the size of the old one. Heck, even their new walk-in closet isn't much smaller than their old bedroom, in terms of square metres, LOL. The original house was two farm-workers cottages knocked into one house.
Since you like cooking so much, how do you deal with cooking smells when all the living space is open plan? That's my big problem here.

Oh, thank you, I was hunting back there for this recipe!! What did you use in place of Karo syrup, Sabrina - golden syrup?? This recipe is haunting me, it won't leave me alone, I'm dreaming about it - I probably just have to go ahead and make it, eat it, get sick, and then I'll finally have some peace.....

Yes, I just used regular golden syrup, and light brown sugar.
If you can find a small can of condensed milk and make half the amount it would probably be about right . But I wouldn't have used the condensed milk for anything else, and I could only find the regular can.

And oh, you won't get sick, you don't need to worry about that. We both had it for breakfast yesterday, LOL, and I had it for lunch too. Remember the quart measurements are different , though I reckon even if I'd done UK quarts there'd have been enough caramel to coat it all.

Thanks for the tips, and caramel popcorn should definitely be on the breakfast menu as far as I'm concerned!!

I got to use a lot of the stamps that I originally bought so I could make cards for Christy! Glad I got to use them again for someone else who is battling this terrible disease AND I am glad that Rachel made some cards too. She doesn't say much, but every now and again she say just enough to let me know her heart is broken. I hope a cure is found soon!!!!

There is hope! There is a doctor at the Cleveland Clinic who has developed a vaccine to prevent mice from developing breast cancer. Hopefully the human vaccination is just around the corner!!! Fingers crossed tightly!
Good for you for completing all the challenges! As heartbreaking as the loss of your sister is, I'm glad you chose to focus on the positive. {Hugs} to you and Rachel.

I hadn't heard the news about that vaccine, but it sounds promising.

I still have... um... a lot of cards to make. And photograph. And upload. I'm not sure I'll get one made for each of the challenges, but I'm still going to try!

Speaking of Nestabilities, I found some at my local Michael's today! GASP!

I even managed to find a set I didn't already have, and used my 40% off coupon on it...

I am basically taking tomorrow off to make sure I have everything finished, linked and posted. I will work a little in the early morning but then it's stamp until it's done. May even get the stamping part done tonight.
Just checking in quick here before I go up and start stamping. Hubby went off to work this morning so I don't even have to cook dinner.

Glad you enjoyed it and the guys at your DH work did too. I made a batch shortly after posting the recipe. I should never have posted it because that made me start thinking of it and I unfortunately ate way morre of it than I should have. I did take several portions to others though. I polished off the last little baggie of it last night!

I can finally see the entire surface of my 2nd table and the desk is getting there! I also have made 3 cards using up the leftovers!
My son was baking again today.
Here's the recipe from Taste of Home that he used for Cinnamon Bagels With Crunchy Topping. They were so good we didn't even need cream cheese on them!

Cinnamon Bagels with Crunchy Topping Recipe

12 Servings
Prep: 40 min. + rising Bake: 15 min.
Ingredients

2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1-1/2 cups warm water (110 to 115)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar, divided
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
2-3/4 to 3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour

TOPPING:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Directions

In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 3 tablespoons brown sugar, cinnamon and salt; mix well. Stir in enough flour to form a soft dough.
Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a bowl coated with cooking spray, turning once to coat the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Shape into 12 balls. Push thumb through centers to form a 1-1/2-in. hole. Stretch and shape dough to form an even ring. Place on a floured surface. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes.
Fill a Dutch oven two-thirds full with water and remaining brown sugar; bring to a boil. Drop bagels, two at a time, into boiling water. Cook for 45 seconds; turn and cook 45 seconds longer. Remove with a slotted spoon; drain well on paper towels.
Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over bagels. Place 2 in. apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 1 dozen.

Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over bagels. Place 2 in. apart on baking sheets coated with cooking spray. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. Yield: 1 dozen.
Yum!Yum! Those sound really good. I may have to make some of these Saturday morning. I'll need something for breakfast! Finished a couple of cards tonight. Two more to go tomorrow.

making your own bagels is ambitious! i'd take the easy way and just buy a cinnamon crunchy bagel from the bagel store, even though that's cheating.

Oh gosh, these sound so good! It has been YEARS (20 or more?) since I made bagels. It was fun and they were good, but it was a lot of work. I may have to try this recipe though. Yummy!

I finally finished my last card (HYCCT1127 - the humor one). I've uploaded them and am now posting in threads as well as the whole list in the appropriate thread if I can find it.

I can't believe I finished all the challenges. It was a struggle, time-wise and schedule-wise, but I'm glad I did. Now I can sit back and hope I win one of those lovely prizes. Oh, and now I can catch up on looking/commenting in the gallery.

Mailed my second and final box to MD Anderson today. Should arrive there by Monday. I hope they take another picture once they received most of the cards. I would love to see all of them all in one spot!

Bagels from scratch - my, it's years since I've done that. Those sound worth a try! I love cinnamon .
We were having regular pancakes last night and I was telling DH about the cinnamon ones somebody posted and asking would he like them for a weekend breakfast - he'll give them a go.
Wow, there are some night owls around, even allowing that there's an extra hour in the time difference between us this week ;D.

I'm so impressed by those who have made multiples of the challenges. Sad to say, it's been hard enough for me to make one of each. I was about a dozen challenges behind at one point (went out of town) so I'm feeling good about finishing the last 3. This month-long challenge has definitely taught me to make cards faster. I should do pretty well if I'm available for the next virtual stamp night (weekend).

This has really been fun and I thank all the hostesses for their challenges.
I was behind by about 12 cards also, Val -- I can't believe I did all the challenges.
I couldn't do multiples of the card either -- I had all I could do to get the original cards done. I am NOT a fast crafter. And this didn't teach me a darn thing, in that regard LOL!

Good for you for getting caught up!

My desk is slowly emerging from the mess. I'm rewarding myself with allowing myself to make a card after I clear each area! It helps SOOOOOO much to have an organized area where everything has a place....now I just have to put them back into their places!!!! I think we should have a "rejected elements from HYCCT" challenge....I think I've got a bunch of cards waiting from the extras!

LOL! I just made a quick card yesterday with "rejected HYCCT elements". I started cleaning up my space but got distracted ... story of my life.

I would love my craft stuff to be in the living room - I have my scrapbook stuff all over the dining room because I like to be near my people. I have a great space in my basement but I get tired of being down there alone...

Your space looks awesome -- plus you have a custom scrapbox coming your way, don't you? Now that I would like pics of, please!

I have this every time I'm in Chicago -- LOVE it! It's the combination of savory and sweet that is so addictive to me. YUM!
