Default finished!

Wow! I'm finished and what a great ride it was.* This is my first time doing these challenges and with so many challenges I was bent, I stretched, and then I just busted right out of my mold.* It was well worth the effort to grow so much as a card maker.* And I was able to make over 150 cards in 33 styles for the card drive.*
Thank You So Much Moderators and Hosts!

Now I'm trying the faux torn mosaic for today's Teapot Tuesday so it's covered with scraps of paper .
Looks like your room's messier than mine! Mine's all neat and tidy now. I still have the sheets of cardstock for the color challenges out but haven't made a card yet. I went and met a co worker for lunch and spent almost three hours sitting at Wendy's and talking! I did stop at the post office after and mailed the rest of my cards to MD Anderson.

You have my room beat, too! Think I need to run out and buy more stuff! My room is just slightly sloppy now after making a card for CC347 earlier.

I've had to clean up several times before I could even get back to work, so I'm not in terrible condition, but close!

I refuse to take a picture though! I've done that many times before and it's just depressing!

I'm like you Melissa except I've made 37 cards & I still need to make 4 more from the challenges I haven't done. I always save the hard ones for last.

Everyone will love your cards.

Hooray!! I'm done, I'm done, I'm really, really done! I can't believe I finished all of the challenges. - a super major accomplishment for me. I loved ALL of the challenged, had a great time chatting with old friends and making some new ones. Now to post to my links and mail them out tomorrow. I'm looking forward to looking back through the gallery at all of the gorgeous cards made.

I'm not much of a card maker ... usually one for a birthday here and another for a birthday there ... and I really REALLY needed this challenge to get me crafting.

Unfortunately, I had a "simple" laproscopy gallbladder surgery a little over two weeks ago and my recovery has been anything but simple. I'm doing better with the walking, but for some reason, sitting upright is painful. (I'm half reclining on my bed as I type.)

This week, as part of my recovery efforts, I plan to sit in my craft room and make at least one card every day!

And to those who started this challenge ... THANK YOU! I never considered joining a challenge until I saw this one -- what a WONDERFUL cause!!
Oh, Melissa, sounds like you need some TLC. Can I bring you anything? It would be a long drive, but it would be worth it. I love SOCal. Hope you fully recover soon.
I supervise a lady that just had that done and she told me the other day she would be back to work in a few days. But since we have to do some lifting with our work, I don't think she will be back as soon as she thinks.
Good luck with getting some stamping done. This is a wonderful cause isn't it!

Hey Melissa,
That is why I'm not finished with my last few (that and I've spent time here instead of stamping a couple of nights) because I didn't like the nearly finished card and would leave it lying on the table and try again. So tonight I have to get over not liking them 100% and just do the last two categories. So don't feel bad. We all have probably done the same thing with at least one card.

Wow! 150 cards! That is Awesome. I am just about finished but I did not make that many cards! I have sent a few extra with each box but I am just glad I will complete the entire challenge. Yes, I said will because I had to do stuff with hubby today when I finished my work today, as he goes off to his job for a week tomorrow. (I always feel like I need to spend that last day with him as much as I can since he is gone every other week.) So I will be finishing up tomorrow night after I get off work again.

Again I think you must have top prize for number of cards!

Unfortunately, I got more Halloween candy (and Popcorn) finished that I did cards, too.
And then I made choc chip cookies for hubby to take to work with him. Had to eat one of those too!

Hard to say about your friend, but if there's any heavy lifting she's likely going to be on light duty for at least a week.

Two years ago, when my mother was 70, she had this surgery. She was up doing laundry the next day.

Here I am 52, and 2 1/2 weeks after surgery I'm having trouble sitting and walking. So, today I went back to the doc and he tells me that my "laproscopy" procedure did not go as planned. My gallbladder was about 4x the normal size, scarred and hardened. He had to make a larger incision to remove it. (I wondered why that cut was four times bigger than the others.) And he goes on to tell me that the skin incision is small compared to the cut he had to make in the muscle below. Now, he's telling me it will be a five- to six-week recovery period instead of the three-day recovery the nurse told me I told when I was discharged.

Oh well, at least I can quit worrying that something went wrong. But you are still welcome to come visit in Sunny Southern California! The weather has been awesome the past few days, but it looks like it's going to get a little cold this coming week.

I am DONE!!!! I didn't think I'd get all of them completed, but I did. They are all matched up with an envelope and ready to go into the mail tomorrow. I really enjoyed doing these. October was starting to weigh me down w/ all the pink ribbons and reminders of why I lost my best friend, but the challenges helped me do something positive and keep me busy. I got to use a lot of the stamps that I originally bought so I could make cards for Christy! Glad I got to use them again for someone else who is battling this terrible disease AND I am glad that Rachel made some cards too. She doesn't say much, but every now and again she say just enough to let me know her heart is broken. I hope a cure is found soon!!!!

There is hope! There is a doctor at the Cleveland Clinic who has developed a vaccine to prevent mice from developing breast cancer. Hopefully the human vaccination is just around the corner!!! Fingers crossed tightly!

Sheesh - all the "I'm finished" talk and numbers of links posts in the grand prize thread makes me think I need to take Friday off from work just to finish up!

Oh Melissa - I can't believe that you weren't informed of that on the day of your surgery! That's so not cool!! Of course you would be worried that they left a sponge or something in there! I hope you are feeling better soon.

You have got to wonder about communication, right? I had hand surgery a couple of years ago. The nurse told me NO ICE on the hand after surgery. When I had my follow-up visit at the doctor's office a couple of weeks later, I mentioned how much pain I was in the week following surgery. They asked if the ice helped... Ice? What ice - I was told not to use ice. The PA at my doc's office was appalled - she said that makes all the difference in comfort. That was kind of a bummer!

You have got to wonder about communication, right?
When my mom had her mastectomy in April the nurse that was working that day was not a regular nurse from the unit. When she came to to the discharge teaching she was saying all kinds of things that were different from what my mom had been told. Having been a nurse thrown into situations like that I can tell you it is really frustrating and difficult. You want to do what you know your patients need, but you're kind of lost yourself. We let this lady do her teaching, knowing she was doing her best, but was frazzled. We went home and called the dr's office to speak to his regular nurse and get it all straightened out. The funnies thing was a little later when my mom went to change her clothes we found she still had her heparin lock (IV port) in her arm. My mom and I are both nurses and we couldn't believe we didn't catch it at the hospital, but I think we just wanted to get out of there.
Your doctor should have been the one to talk with you about the difference in the surgery and the expectations following it and it should have been done at the hospital! He is the only one who knows that information! His notes on the operation probably weren't even in the chart for the nurses to read yet. They gave you the standard discharge instructions for the standard surgery and from what he told you later...your situation was not standard.

That is awful that they didn't tell you that at discharge.... I mean I'm glad that you know -- but they should have told you that right away....

I'm glad that you know now why your recovery is taking longer than expected, Melissa! But it would have been nice to know that up front instead of wondering why you were finding it so hard.

Waaaah. Arrrrgh... I packed all my cards into a padded bag. Took them out, packed them a different way. Then I decided that the shoe box I'd been saving them in would be better. After I'd filled the gaps with bubblewrap, wrapped it in a plastic bag, then brown wrapping paper and LOTS of tape I found one card got missed out in the re-organising.
So I only posted 54 out of my 55 challenge cards.
Well, I guess I'll just have to go on making them through to the 7th and send in a small envelope then. A colleague of DH's paid 10 today for a card I was only asking 4 for, so that will pay the extra postage .

Well, as per my post #1348, since I missed out mailing one card today I'm planning on making one today, tomorrow and Friday so long as I can fit them in with the daily challenges. I bet we'll make the 3000!!!

I have three cards on my camera ready to upload. then I have 9 more to do. We'll hit 3000. And last year I only made TWO CARDS! It helps having the kids a year older

I have 3 waiting to photo and upload, then 3 more to make today. So you can add 6 to the total for me. Then I'll upload my links today and mail my cards tomorrow.

I'm so impressed by those who have made multiples of the challenges. Sad to say, it's been hard enough for me to make one of each. I was about a dozen challenges behind at one point (went out of town) so I'm feeling good about finishing the last 3. This month-long challenge has definitely taught me to make cards faster. I should do pretty well if I'm available for the next virtual stamp night (weekend).

This has really been fun and I thank all the hostesses for their challenges.

Are they counting them at the other end too because many have been sending more from their stashes as well? I'm assuming the 3000 is cards posted in the challenge gallery.
My desk is slowly emerging from the mess. I'm rewarding myself with allowing myself to make a card after I clear each area! It helps SOOOOOO much to have an organized area where everything has a place....now I just have to put them back into their places!!!! I think we should have a "rejected elements from HYCCT" challenge....I think I've got a bunch of cards waiting from the extras!

I've just uploaded my sketch challenge for today (perfect for even a ribbonaphobe to use ribbon!!) for Jessica's pink ribbon challenge - and we're only 82 cards shy of the big 3000.

I finally called to set up my mammogram that one of the early challenges reminded me it was time to do. The office assistant says, "I'll check with the mammogram tech and see if she can squeeze you in." As soon as she put me on hold I started laughing my head off!

Well, if you really want to learn to make cards fast I guess that VSN is one way, but if you're a fan-club member that's really an intense creative blast. And you can combine, there .

Do you think she knew what she was saying?
Thanks for the giggle.
