Default Sometimes you have to laugh...

So I've been travelling this week and knew I would have plenty of hotel down time so I packed a craft bag. I was so pleased with myself as I had never done this before. The thing is although I packed stamps, stamp pad, scorpal, pencils, cutting tools, adhesives, acrylic block, fantastix...

have you noticed what I forgot?

Plain white cardstock! LOL! Oh well I got some of my bare rubber alphabets cut and labeled so all was not lost! And I somehow left the OMS at home, but I could have dealt with that!

Ha - me too!
Every time we go and stay in my aunt's house I forget an adapter for charging the electric toothbrush.
Last month I remembered the adapter but guess what I forgot - the charging base .
At least it sounds as if you put your time to good use with the alphabet stamps - a tedious job at the best of times.

A few years ago I had to attend some training in the Houston, Texas, area. I thought I'd create and prepare for a class I was teaching, so I brought a few bags of crafting things. I had so many bags, when I checked in, the attendant thought I was a hurricane evacuee.

I travel with my job, so I've spent lots of night in a Best Western cutting paper. :-)

Last time I made it to MIL's with no adhesive. And the intent to assemble cards. Sigh...

How about ink? :p (Or is that what you meant by stamp pad?)

I went to an ATC gathering in January, took some stamps to use, and also forgot smooth white cardstock! I compensated by buying a pad of drawing paper at Jerry's Artarama. You know, like the Strathmore pads in the art supplies aisles? I don't remember what style I got (Bristol, vellum, etc.), but it was smooth, about 90 or 120 lb I think, and much better for stamping than the white "cardstock" in the scrapbooking aisle at Michaels.

I've used that before. It embosses wonderfully also!

I don't know what's worse - forgetting something you NEED - or packing a giant bag of cardmaking stuff to take in the car on holidays (with dear husband exclaiming at the weight: "What on earth did you put in this? Bricks?" - and then not "feeling like cardmaking" when I was away and didn't even unpack it.....ooops.....

Love this thread - thanks for joining in everyone.

Yes - I forgot to put down that I remembered my archival ink! my stamp pad was my cushion.

And TBH I could have gone out and bought cardstock... I just didn't want to which is funny as when I visit there within 2 miles I have access to the college bookstore, Michaels, AC Moore, Joanns, and a few more art supply stores. I actually coveted a Strathmore pad when I took my eldest back to school a few weeks ago and we were picking up his books for the new term. I just kept thinking about my ream of Neenah at home....

I once packed far more crafting stuff than stuff I needed for the trip. Then I forgot m cutting board so my lines were less than straight. It always seems to be something. Having a list doesn't even help me sometimes!

I take creative stuff with me when I go camping. We go camping for a week at a time and as much as I enjoy nature and the great outdoors I just don't have the energy to hike/bike/fish all day.

I usually take my beads because they take up far less space than stamping stuff. I have forgotten very important items such as crimp beads, clasps and ear wires. so i was able to make a bunch of stuff but not wear it

Getting ready in just over a month to go on our favorite annual camping trip and am already thinking about what to take. It helps a little that we are also moving but will be in house limbo for a few months so i have to really be picky about what I keep out of storage. I've been making a list of the kinds of lists I need to make of things to take. Overkill? Maybe. But I can't forget any of the really important stuff

Been there done that too. I packed everything but a inkpad. We were at Topsail Island...there was not a store for miles around at least one that sold Scrapbooking Stuff. The nearest walmart was in Wilmington...lol So I spent the whole weekend fishing and watching Youtube Videos on how to do techniques on paper...All was not lost...I cut out a lot of mats for cards too. When I got home I immediately put a Black and Brown Momento Inkpad in my Tool bag...now I never leave home without ink.

LOL! Yes that's what worries me about carrying my stamping supplies.

I once had everything except the acrylic blocks! Not much you can do if you can't stamp

Oh ladies....I am a corporate travel agent and have visions of TSA agents giggling at all the crafty items they see through their machines! HAH! I bet they have seen it all though!

I do know what you mean about forgetting the obvious though...too funny!

Before my art retreat last January, I made a list of supplies I would want/need to have with me. This was for a two and a half day event where we would be working on mixed media projects and ATCs (artist trading cards). So I need a lot more "art" supplies compared to stamping supplies, but since I often use stamped images on my ATCs, I also wanted to take some stamps.

It looks like a lot (OK, it *is* a lot :p), but some of the items aren't very big: Exacto knife, Pitt artist pens, a plastic ruler, etc.

Anyway, most of the stuff in the left column, and some of the items in the right column (including 12 Ranger Distress Ink pads!), got packed into one of the large USPS flat rate boxes and was shipped in advance. My Dresden trim and a few cling-mounted rubber stamps on plastic binder pages went into my carry-on bag. The only thing I forgot: the items related to Gothic Arches. I was freaking out because I was SURE I packed them, along with some vintage foreign postage stamps that I planned to use. When I got home, I found the baggie containing all of them on my craft table.

QUESTION: Guess how many ATCs I made that weekend?

I'll stop back tomorrow with the answer.

It's quality not quantity and I bet you had some QUALITY FUN! no matter what your ATC count is.

You don't absolutely need acrylic - I've used a stamp pad, wood mount stamps, a ruler - any smooth object that the cling can stick to should work to do a single stamping (although not recommended for things you want to keep ink-free or for mass production!).
