Hi. Trying to finish last minute Easter cards using Poppystamp grand gothic window die. I used the same sandwich I have used several times in the last couple weeks, but this time, it did not cut completely. So I turned the die and cardstock 90 degrees and put it through again. (This has worked in the past). I heard a very loud cracking noise. I noticed the cuttlebug case had come slightly apart just above the handle. I got it back together, but now there doesn't seem to be any pressure at all. I can't get it to do anything. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. (I contacted the company, but of course they are closed)
I am so sorry to hear about your cuttlebug. Mine broke last year and my heart went with it. I too was trying to get the grand Madison thin die through and my sandwich was too thick. I heard a "pop". The side where the handle was, separated. There was no pressure. Do you have V.2? Provocraft will probably replace it. Tell them that you only had it for a few months. My bug was older V.1 and they wound not replace it and said the problem was beyond repair. Boo to them!
I am not sure if your problem is the same as mine but the lack of pressure seems to be the same. I was frantic and posted for help here on SCS. I got so many kind souls trying to help me.
Somewhere on the internet there is a man who offers some help if you have the same problem he fixes. Has many photos.
Please try to search on SCS for broken cuttlebug. I will leave this post and see if I can find my thread.
I'm praying for you.
Thanks for your help. Unfortunately, I have the older Cuttlebug. In fact, I got mine at a garage sale nearly 2 years ago for half price, so I already got my money's worth. It's just the timing that stinks. I will keep searching to see if I can find a fix, or just tear it apart and see if my husband or I can figure out what is wrong. Don't have much to lose since it is already broken. Maybe this is the motivation I need to move up to a bigger and better machine??? LOL. Having it break last night also provided the motivation to get more creative FAST! I found a thread on a different website where a lady said she had the same problem and had posted pictures of how her husband fixed hers, but when I tried to follow, the thread was broken. I am going to attempt to email her and see what I can find.
Thanks for your help. Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter
Thanks again. I went to this link and I must have a different problem as nothing had "popped off". Guess I will just keep experimenting and see if I can come up with a solution. If I do, I will be sure to post it
Unfortunately, I fear my cuttlebug is beyond repair. The vertical metal plate behind the handle has cracked all the way through. I am going to try JB weld, but don't hold out much hope.
Wondering about replacing it with a new cuttlebug, or should I go with a big shot??? Want to be able to use all the fancy dies I just purchased.
Thanks for everyone's help.
Have a blessed Easter
I have the Big Shot/Kick, Vagabond as well as my bug. I find that the Big Shot/Kick is cumbersome for me simply because of space. The Vagabond is indeed powerful and electronic. It is compact. The Big Shot and the Vagabond have wider portals. But I have found their is rare a die that I cannot cut with my bug. Cuttlebug now offers extended platforms and cuttins plates.
As for price...you can use 50% coupon for Big Kick and also Cuttlebug in Michaels. The big Kick is around $100 and the Cuttlebug is not far behind. If space is not your issue, go with the Big Shot/Kick. If you need portability and have space needs, go with another bug (with a coupon). If you want luxury, my dear, the Vagabond is so ideal.
I'm a gadget person. So, I have all three. But my big is still my heart.
Perhaps you can find some deals online (Joann.com) or ebay. Maybe someone here on SCS might be willing to sell theirs. I was fortubate that an angel gave me hers for nothing. I owe her a world of debt because at the time I was going thru a financial crisis.
Best of luck, my dear. Anything else I can help you with, please do not fail to contact me! Happiest Easter!
Here is coupon code for today only free ship: FFFY090 (no minimum)
If you want the Cuttlebug, it is not on sale. But. there is a 40% off coupon and you cannot use free ship coup: HVCE093 and you can use this until 4/3/13
I am on my 4th cuttlebug. I use them to death.
Blessings
I still have my first one, and like you, I use it all the time. Was thinking I might get a Big Shot when mine dies, but maybe not? Why do you like Cuttlebug the best?

I love my bug, too. I've thought of getting the Bigshot but really think I would worry about the weight/bulkiness/etc. Would love to hear feedback, too.
And once again - SCS is THE BEST place to look for advice. I love this site. No wonder I'm here ALL THE TIME!

That's my issue, Joanne. I keep my supplies in another room, and bring stuff out to a round game-type table in my living area when I make cards. The Cuttlebug is so portable and small and easy to lug around. I keep my Bug and embossing folders in a small file box by my chair, and just put it on the table to use it.
I try to follow the philosopy, if it works, don't fix it.
