Oh my, Dawn I'll have to see where my eyelets and Cropodile are.....lots of dust on those things. Thanks for helping me use some of the million eyelets I got back in the day when they were popular! LOL

I still remember the day my DD used my hammer to bang in a couple of eyelets directly on the surface of our new dining room table! So thankful for the crop-a-dile though I'm one of those rare klutzes who's given herself an embarrassing and uncomfortable injury with it.

uh-oh... someone has been reading in the forum!
Can someone give me some tips on how to set my eyelets without ruining the paper, the metal, the table, the... (you get the picture?) I'm REALLY inept at this. REALLY inept. And that is being polite.
No, I don't have a crop a dile. I have the little Provocraft Kit:
ProvoCraft SILENT SETTER Kit 6 Hole Punch/Eyelet Setting TIPS Micro Reg Large on eBay!
Off to search the web.
Thanks!

I'm sorry I can't offer advice on that setter, Shyla! I had (have, 'cos I still use them sometimes) the spring-loaded Fiskars ones.
Quicklets are SO easy to set with just a ballpoint pen or something similar - you wouldn't have a couple of those lurking anywhere?
What a fun challenge, Dawn! I had several ideas running through my mind when I was making my card for the CCEE challenge yesterday - so now I get a chance to use another idea ;-).

Good challenge, Dawn, to make us get out those long-forgotten supplies! : ) I had to go look for a hammer too. I combined your challenge with the QFTD one.

Shyla, To save my table, I use a small wooden cutting board that my Dad made years ago.The board has tons of small indents but my tables are safe. lol I use the spring loaded type also and love them. No time to make a card this morning tho...later perhaps

I've got a full schedule today (my 93-year-old mom was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday) and not sure I can play today. So I'm going to cheat just a little bit. This week's CCEE challenge was also to use eyelets. I didn't upload my card to the gallery, so here it is .

Oh how fun, I haven't used my eyelets in ages! I have the old-fashioned kind with just the little hammer and the setter thing. No springs, no tech of any sort. My craft table is a kitchen counter (in my craft room, not the kitchen!) and indestructible, though when I bang them in you can hear the pounding clear down the street! It's pretty ear splitting. Looking forward to playing!

Oh no! I didn't realize...I better go look up the CCEE challenge. So many challenges, so little time right? So, apparently there is a need to use up some neglected eyelets!

I just found out that the mother of my son's friend is starting to get into stamping (after just being a scrapper), so I sent over a bunch of my neglected items...papers, stamps...and of course, a healthy dose of eyelets!

Well, I'd like to make another card for this using one of my earlier ideas, but I was thrilled to see how perfect my little sun eyelets (last three!!) looked as centres in my big flowers for this card:
MIX6 Bright Blooms
And I wouldn't have thought of that at all without this challenge also in my mind, so thank you!

Shea, I used to put down cardboard on the garage floor and pound in my eyelets. That way I didn't wake those in the house! Late night stamping ya know.

Hi! I haven't use my eyelets forever! Guess I may dig them out if I get time. I use an eyelet setter and hammer on a quilting square. The eyelet setter is about the size of a pen, it is metal, and pointed on one end and blunt on the other. After you have your hole made for your eyelet just put it in the hole and turn it over. You should have the back of your card stock and eyelet facing you. Stick the pointed end of the eyelet setter down in the eyelet and give it 2-3 good whacks w/a hammer. I use a craft hammer. The quilting square is something I stumbled on several years ago. It is an acrylic square that works great underneath your project. You shouldn't damage anything using this.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the encouragement and guidance! I dusted off (literally, dusted off!) the silent setter and pulled it out and used it. I have a little baggie full of a bunch of different colors and styles of eyelets, and I discovered why I stopped doing these - most of the eyelets set easily. There was one color that would NOT crumple. I am a big girl, and if a little eyelet is able to withstand, conservatively, 150 pounds... I had to pull out the hammer. The card is definitely an unrealized idea. Didn't quite come out the way I was visualizing. But I did set some eyelets. Phew!

Double whammy - I was able to use up a stamped image that has been lying on the desk for a couple of weeks AND incorporate eyelets. At least I was able to use my Crop-a-Dile for this one, unlike my first .

Woops! I am posting late because I threw my back out. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone elses cards when I get back from grocery shopping though. Don't you hate it when you lose those little boogers! I find mine when my sweeper sounds like it's freaking out! Here is mine. TFL
