MAR13VSNJ ~ Saturday, March 2 ~ 5:00 P. M. EST ~ Feathers
Title: Feathers
Hostess: tessaduck (Brenda)
Keyword: MAR13VSNJ
Day/Date: Saturday, March 2nd
Time: 5:00 pm EST
One of my chores, growing up on a small farm, was to feed the chickens and gather eggs. I was very familiar with feathers, and sometimes kept interesting ones. Still do, occasionally, when on the beach or on trails around here.
My challenge for you: Use feathers as embellishments on a card or project. Or, lacking the real thing, use feathers as image features, in the dp, or textures. One of my samples has real feathers, and the other has a stamped image of feathers.
Cant wait to see your feathery creations!

I can understand. I'm used to working on my own, with an occasional interruption from the cat who doesn't care-- Eh. De-stress, Angie. There's time, and check out the following story--->

I was fortunate, during my career, to be assigned to a paper mill as a teacher on summer assignment. It was a fabulous experience-- the best professional development activity I’d ever done. Enlightening, to see the industrial workplace up close. Not many life-long educators get that opportunity. Of course, any transition is a challenge, and my assignment was huge. I wanted to do well, of course, and that invited Stress. With a capital S.
I worked with two environmental engineers. They were great mentors! About two weeks into the experience, I started leaving feathers on their desks/chairs, anonymously. The idea was to “lighten up,” a stress reliever. They didn’t know where the feathers were coming from until near the end of my assignment.
So, the last day, one of the engineers took me to the top of the tallest (and most hazardous!) buildings in the mill. We could see for miles and miles! She pulled about a dozen feathers from her pocket, and together we tossed them, one by one, into the wind.
Wow!

Yes, a bit. Finding them on the beach or on the trails is always such a fun surprise, kind of like wildflowers. They're fascinating-- the way they're engineered for strength and lightness.

I didn't get a sample done for this wonderful challenge, but I will get one uploaded before Monday! I love it, Brenda! I raised chickens when I was blessed enough to live in the country. I miss them a lot.

Those red feathers remind me of a feather quill on display at our local historical museum, where I volunteer. It's brilliantly red! As a kid, I used to use our chickens' feathers as quills. Even then, I was too impatient to write with ink and quill...

I just pulled some feathers out of my husband's fly tying bench. And I don't feel bad about it, because I noticed he has a bunch of my glitter in one of his drawers.
