Any suggestions for the best adhesive or glue to use with chipboard? I have a bunch that needs covered with paper and I'm not sure the best adhesive to use with it. I don't really want to use the ATG on it and want to make sure I'm going to use an adhesive that will stay and not lose it's grip after a while and fall apart again.
Thanks for responding. I didn't want to have to "do-over" some pages because things weren't sticking. I'll try the Tombow...just received some in a gift!

Great! If you haven't used the Tombow before, beware, a little goes a long way. I usually just put a thin line around the edges, about 1/4" in, and a few squiggles in the middle.

To attach paper to chipboard I use double sided adhesive sheets and to attach finished chipboard pieces to a layout I use Sticky Strip or Scor-Tape. I'm not patient about letting glue dry!

Also, beware of the type of paper you are using if you are using a wet glue - make sure it has some thickness to it. I learned the hard way that if you use thin paper, make sure you use a very thin layer of glue, otherwise you will end up with bumps that are hard to get rid of without ripping the paper (ask me how I know!).

If I'm covering a whole piece, edge to edge, my preferred glue is PVA, which is recommended for book making. It's a liquid, but you can spread it very thin and it dries quickly and flat - no air bubbles. It holds very well. I can glue layers of cereal box together and not worry about them coming apart. If there is a concern about your item warping, sandwich it between 2 plastic bags & put a couple of large books on top. The brand I like best is Lineco, Inc. - Neutral pH Adhesive. I buy it at an art supplies store.
I like the Tombow glue as well, but I hate the tiny size it comes in! I've never looked, but does it come in a larger size? I end up using glossy accents for most liquid glue jobs b/c I know I won't run out.
Tombow for small chipboard pieces and ModPoge for large pieces.
If you are covering a large piece like a book cover and the paper will wrap around the edges of the cardstock you can use UHU glue stick (the clear one, not the purple). Coat the chipboard really well, lay down the paper and then burnish wiht a bone folder to make sure you have full coverage, no air bubbles or lumps. Use Tombow on the edges that are wrapped around to back of the chipboard. It saves you some money.
for all of my mini album covers I use Beacon Fabri-Tack. It is a little pricey but use coupons. It will adhere paper to chipboard and keep it there without saturating the paper.

For large containers of Tombow Green just use Aleene's Quick Dry Glue.
Cool - I used to have a lot of that, but I think it dried up. I used it all the time for other craft projects before I discovered stamping. Bummer I let it get too dry!
Any time I use a liquid glue on a large area I spread it with an old credit type card, you know, the ones that come in the mail. Tombow sets up quick so work fast.

Hobby Lobby does carry the PVA glue, but it is not with the other glue. It's closer to the art dept, but I can't remember for sure just where it is. It is called Craft & Hobby PVA glue by Helmar. the label is gray with yellow lettering and comes in an 8.45 fl. oz. bottle. I use it all the time for my cards and it never warps the paper.

I pour it in a smaller bottle, and just keep refilling it when it gets low. You can get small bottles with the same kind of tip. just don't cut it down too much to make a big hole or you will get too much glue coming out. I got a pack of 6 bottles at Pat Catan's for about 3.00 and you have to cut the top of the inside tip to open it.I just barelycut it off to keep the hole small.

I think my Perfect Paper Adhesive dried up too. What a shame! They don't make these containers well enough to keep product for a while. I haven't seen this product in a while...do they still make it?

I think they do as I recently bought some, but can't tell you where it was. That's the trouble when you get older and the memory goes!

The double sided adhesive sheets is a good idea. I bought some odd shaped chipboard albums and I could trace the shape this way! Thanks.

1. Krylon Spray adhesive/fixative. Available at craft stores, maybe even Walmart. Only bad thing: similar to spray paint, you have to use it in a well-ventilated area. At Michaels, it's in the section near the spray paint.
2. Yes! paste. I had to order mine from Dick Blick. We used this in a bookmaking class to adhere paper to heavy chipboard book covers. Works great, cleans up easily, a little goes a long way, 100% acid free. (You thin it with water and apply it with a brush.)
