I have been having a problem with things falling off...
Not right away but I go to get a card from my stash and it will be falling to pieces. I like to use tape runner because its so easy and no drying time? Which brands or types have worked best for everyone?
If you have a Michael's near you, grab a coupon for 40% off ( or 50% if you can ) and go get a pink ATG adhesive gun. It comes with two rolls of tape. It looks bulky and intimidating but it is light weight.
This tape holds like a dream. The general purpose works really well, and since I am primarily a card maker I don't see the need for the archival tape. My hubby bought me some archival ( not knowing any better ) and I actually had more trouble with it not holding as well as the regular.
If you make lots of cards and will go through lots of adhesive, the ATG is the way to go. The tape rolls come with 72 yards of tape on them. Much more than any of the smaller, hand size tape runners. It is the most cost effective way I've found to buy adhesive for this hobby of ours.
There are two online places people mention a lot to buy refills in bulk. The Tape Depot and Framing Supplies. I have never had to purchase refills online myself. I don't go through it THAT quickly and can always find a coupon for Michael's to go pick up another two pack that way.
Changing the tape roll once it is empty can be tricky, but watch a couple YouTube videos and you will get the hang of it.
I have used lots of adhesives, and, like you, got tired of finding things falling apart when taking them out of my stash. The ATG holds really well and is cost effective when bought with a coupon.
BESIDES THAT: if the size of the ATG just really scares you and you want to stick to one of the smaller tape runners that fits easily in the palm of your hand; I also like the Scotch brand DOT tape runners. These are readily available at Michael's or AC Moore or Hobby Lobby. I like the DOT version better than the plain tape version because it doesn't seem to gunk up around the edges of the dispenser like two sided tape does. So far I have no complaints about the way it holds either. It is fast and quick to grab if I go to someplace else to craft. It is not as cost effective in the long run as the ATG, but again, I am usually able to wait to buy refills with a coupon.
I suspect you will see lots more votes for the ATG. There are a few threads out here answering questions about them so if you need more info. do a search and quite a few will pop up.
I think I may actually have an ATG Gun. LOL bought one at a wholesale shop I love. SO I guess I need to check and see it it is the right thing.. I did have issues with refilling it, so thanks for the tips in tutorials.

I have a pink ATG, which I'm learning to use, lol! I really like the Ad-Tech tape runners. Both Michael's & Hobby Lobby carry them; the refills are 2/2.99. At Michael's they're with the other glues, not in the scrapbook section. Most of the time I'm able to use a 40% coupon, which makes the price even better.

I, too, recommend using an ATG because it is so economical. There is a learning curve but don't let the size I intimidate you. It is well designed so is not 'top heavy'.
I do have some of those small tape runners that I use in small places or at a workshop. When I first started this hobby, I spent $60-70 in the first few months. Now I buy refills for my ATG at $1.25 a roll!
Yay. Well I had a ATG but Im not sure if its the real thing or a knockoff.. But the tape that came with it is super super heavy duty, so I think thats why I got frustrated with it and set it aside and forgot about it.. I think the stuff that came with it is for material or quilting or something, but next time I am at Michael's I will look and see if I can make the one I have work or get the official pink one everyone talks about. But I can tell it is already going to be my new method.

My vote is for the ATG too but I do use the Scotch brand DOT tape runner for smaller areas (like layering a small die cut piece). The DOT is much better than their regular tape runner. It goes on much smoother and it does not gunk up.
So the ATG is that big gun looking thing that I see people using at workshops? Interesting.
I started with Creative Memories' taperunners, and they have recently re-vamped their runner, which has worked like a charm for me. Never had anything "fall off", either scrapbook or card.
I also really like the mini Zots, and now they have a "bling" zots which are super tiny.
Just in case you wanted some else's opinion. But I've never used the ATG.
