Default Punch question

I was looking through the Stampin' Up catalog and see all these cards with a strip of paper with a triangle cut at the end. Was a punch used for that & if so which one is it? Try as I may I cannot cut something like that evenly.;)
Thanks for your help!

I use my square punches to notch out the end on the banners. Here's a card I recently made where I used a square punch-

Very pretty!! Thanks for the help. Now I need to look for a punch. I have to see what size I would use in general.

Banners are so popular I'm really surprised SU hasn't come out with a die set by now. I recently ordered this Banner Die-namics set from My Favorite Things to make an assortment of banner sizes quickly and easily for my cards and just love it.

I usually use my 1" square punch for my banners.

I also use a square punch most of the time. However, you can also make a short snip into the center of one end of the strip and cut diagonally into that to create the "V".

Those are pretty neat!! Can you use them with the cuttlebug? Is so what is the layering layout of plates?

Stampin up has two die sets. Itty bitty banners and hearts a flutter.

If you find it hard to correctly align a square punch, a square nestie might be easier because you can set your CS down, and then align the nestie on it diagonally so that it's even, then hold in place with post-its or tape.

That said, the MFT set looks really nice.

To get the ends straight I draw a vertical line and a dot on the back to use as a guide. If that's as clear as mud here's a video that shows what I mean. It's for a punch art arrow but the concept is the same.

Wow, that was very clever of her to come up with that. Using just the one punch! I've been thinking of buying that punch. Maybe I will.

Well, again, I love SCS. I had been trying to figure out a way to do these pennant banners. I cannot cut evenly either. Thank you for the solutions! This place is just fabulous.

Honestly with a little practice on scratch paper you will get better at this! I tend to free hand most of mine but have practiced a lot! And only do two snips...I used to try to "fix" mine and I only made them worse, lol! It's a hand made card....it shouldn't be perfect...that's the whole charm of the card:-)
