We all know how 2012 owls were everywhere, but do you think owl/birds will stay on trend or will a new "It" animal appear? I'd like to see bees on the list since hexagons seem to be the new chevron for 2013.
And gosh, owls in particular have been hot for a lot longer than that. I can remember when I got my first owl set and I thought I was quite late joining the trend - and that was at least four years ago . I'd have said that last year they were definitely on the wane in comparison to previous years.
Oh, I don't think I'm excited about it, LOL! We kept bees in the garden when I was growing up and they weren't the most friendly species , so it takes a really cute bee to do anything for me... Maybe if I finally get some hexagon dies for patchwork cards I might get a bee to go with them, but it's not a given.
I hope the bird/owl thing fades away soon. Bees would be a nice change, I have lots of bee stamps from years ago. Monkeys are still popular, too.

I would love to see dragonflys! When I see cards made with butterflys I tend to CASE them and use a dragonfly instead...I don't know, just something about them that I like

...I don't give a HOOT about owls... I really don't. Nor do I like the worn out puns to go along with them. I'm not really keen on fads anyway, I like what I like, I guess.
Bees: good. Owls: never saw the attraction there, especially since so many of the images were pretty goofy.

I've been noticing a lot of African animals like giraffes, rhinos, elephants, etc. in stamps, fabric designs, jewelry. I think they are going to be hot this year.
I love animal stamps (have a few draws of them). I still reach for old sets tat feature them as kids love them and they can be used for a lot of people. People still request owl cards from me all the time for various reasons I guess. I love the realistic animal stamps and I don't have too many of those and I would love to own safari set.
I am a wildlife biologist, so I kinda love any and all animals. My studies and work are mostly with birds - including owls, raptors, shorebirds, and gulls and terns. So I'm good with the bird trend.
I've also done a lot of work with snakes, turtles, frogs and salamanders. I don't see snakes ever getting huge.
If bees get huge, I'll be happy. I have a nice selection of bee sayings but not many bee images I like.

No blog for me. My gallery chronicles my card-making successes and mishaps.
My son is a gecko breeder, so I would love to see gecko and other lizard stamps - Really! Some of his are so cute and they come in a variety of colors.

I am anti-pun and couldn't care less if I ever see another owl. :o I am a fan of bees though.

I love elephants. I hope to see a lot of elephant stamps, paper & other pretties.
Sniff, sniff my poor owls. ;) I love owls but they did get over saturated in the market the past few years. I love my owls but I wouldn't mind if the companies made less of them. I don't want to get burned out on owls. You know the less is more adage.
Oh dear; I hope owls don't go out soon. I bought the owl punch a year or so ago and have yet to punch anything but I thought I just HAD to have it. Not that it's a trend, but I'd like to see a nice dog and/or cat set. The ones I've seen just didn't do much for me. whales? elephants? fox? peacocks? - no thanks.
I never really was into the owl thing, although I do have a couple of "cute" ows stamps too.
But I love and have always loved the cute animals, any kind really, especially hedgehogs (the penny black ones). Also love cute elephants. Oh, and I always loved bees too, but I don't think I have any bee stamps.
I love cutesy animals for the reason that I can color them any color (patterns). With realistic images I feel restricted to realistic colors.
Kristen, I feel the same way, but didn't know exactly why until you posted this. Of course, you are right. If you are coloring "real" animals they are usually, grey, brown, black, white, etc.
I can make a purple cat if I feel like it! And sometimes I do. My granddaughter made my avatar when she was only 6. Guess what, a purple cat.
