Still at Michael's--Class of 05 stamps
I posted this in 2008:
3 year old stamps at Michael's by Paula O. at Splitcoaststampers
I was at the same Michael's yesterday (haven't been there in over a year and NOTHING has changed--what a crummy store), and the Class of '05 stamps are STILL there!
Just think, in 2 years those stamps can have a 10 year class reunion!

Maybe that's what they are hoping! That some reunion organizer will buy them.

There must be a reason why they are there. I live in Baltimore, Maryland and I found several in our $1.50 bin as well the other day when I was ruffling through to see if there was anything new. I don't like Michael's either, but convenient for adhesives in a pinch.

Mine has them too. I just spent over an hour walking around and walked out with next to nothing. I keep hoping they will change. I really am looking for heavy weight cardstock. I am going to start looking online for it I guess. I just did not want to have to wait for shipping.

I too was looking for cardstock of a specific color. But I couldn't stay in the paper aisle too long. The smell was terrible. There was some funky glitter cardstock that has the most awful smell. I can't imagine using that on any project. And of course they didn't have the color stock I was looking for. I want that 45 minutes of my life back!

For Pumpkin's Mom: Gina K. Pure luxury cardstock base weight is really fabulous--best I've found.

You would think with all the online shopping options the CEO's and purchasing agents would do their homework and keep their stock up to date.

My Michaels is pretty good, usually. I am thinking they didn't get rid of the 05 stamp because a scrapbooker could be creating scrapbooks of graduations from years ago. So a stamp could still be used.

I was thinking the same thing when I was waiting in line the other day. They have a bin of the $1.50 stamps (used to be $1) right by the checkout line. I was thumbing through them and saw lots of the Class of '05 stamps there. At first I started to laugh but then thought that if I was working on a scrapbook for that timeframe, I'd be thrilled to be able to get one of those stamps still. Of course, they still have those but I haven't seen any like that for other years (ones I could have used instead of having to put together my own!)

My Michaels still has the $1 bins. Guess I am pretty lucky. Not sure how long that will be the case. I just bought a bunch of brown board books to decorate for $1 each!! They had several different shapes; square, rectangle, rectangle with scallop edges, and two different shapes of flowers.

So here is my question... What happened to the "Class of 06, 07, 08..." and so on stamps? Why is there a glut of the '05 stamps? Did no one graduate that year?
I am heading to lunch with my husband today and his office is near a Michael's, so now I have to check to see if they have them too.
Thanks for the chuckles, ladies... a stamp reunion... too funny!

I have never seen a stamp for other years! That's part of what makes this funny. It's like the Class of 05 is the only class that matters.
Question: Would anyone really make a scrapbook 8 years after someone graduated?

I think somewhere along the way someone added a zero to an order, but it is rather amusing.
I also think that is about when clear stamps came out so instead of buying one off stamps people wanted more flexibility in these types of stamps.
Speaking of which, my big "gripe" about "Class of" stamps is that last year most clear sets only had one "2" in them. Guess I don't have to worry about that again until I need three in 9 years time!

Two weeks ago when all the paper were on sale I had a lady buy a TON and she was going to make books of all her kids weddings and grand kids birthdays as gifts. Years and years of projects with needs of much more then an '05 stamp.
I have yet to see an '05 stamp at the Mikes I work at. The Clearance turn around at my store is amazing. I just don't understand the problem at your Mikes.
Guess I am lucky I am working at a nice Mikes.
We still Have $1 bins too ;)

My oldest grandson will start high school next year, and I still haven't made scrapbooks for his mom or any of his aunts or uncles. If I ever motivated myself to do it, I'd be many, MANY years behind! I've decided to scrap my own life and give my kids their photos and mementos to do with as they will. Of course, that means that I'm scrapping MY graduation THIRTY-NINE years after the fact!!! Sheesh - I never feel old until I participate in a conversation like this...thanks...?

Gina K's white and ivory 120 lb. cardstock is awesome. They have very quick delivery, the s@h is not as pricy as some, once you use their heavy weight yoi'll never go back

So I checked out one of the Michael's nearby... Beaverton, Oregon does NOT have any of the Class of '05 stamps... in case someone in the area was looking! I scoured the store and dove into the stamp bins... nothing. I mentioned it to the cashier and she cracked up. She said they should have been put on clearance years ago - and that they must've done so.
I will check the Tualatin store next time I get that way and report back. Maybe we had a lot of graduates that year?
As for the comment that someone might need it 6 years after the fact? Well, I completed my daughter's "first year" baby scrapbook 10 years afterwards. Haven't done any solo books for her since - and she turns 17 next month! Ooops.

My Mike's now keeps $ stamps stocked with new and current stamps, but for a long time did not keep that bin updated. I guess they are a $1.50 now, which is not as fun!
They are such good quality. I love them and use them lots.
I remember seeing those old "class of" stamps, I will have see if I see them in any of the Mike's I go to. I am sure they were '05 also. Strange I never thought about how long ago that was!

Loads of these spotted in my M's yesterday! Funny. I graduated college in '05 but I managed to resist!
Incidentally there weren't any other years!
