Bringing back images!! What a fantastic idea, SU!!! There are definitely some images that I would love to see come back (without having to pay the outrageous Ebay prices!!).
"Best of Birthdays" is on the website...I hate to be negative, but it isn't what I expected at all. I still have hopes for the rest of the year, though.
What does everyone else think?

Just so we are clear...they will be making a "new" set of old images each with a theme. Jan is birthdays. And there will be one brand new image in each set. I think it's a fun idea!
I love the idea, just not the selection. The images are not what I would have picked as the best birthday stamps out of 25 years. I do understand that there may be reasons they couldn't use certain others that might have been more popular or better representative of the "best."
I'm eager to see the next set, though!

Yep, I saw the one for Jan. I just love the idea of seeing some of the older images. There were sets where I loved some of the images, but not all of them.
I think what will be fun is the "anticipation" of what they will bring back.

Yup! I'm interested how they picked what they did! I'm not a huge fan of this set either and actually I wonder if I will be of any of them since they will have dated images, kwim? But it's a fun surprise and cute idea I think! And did you guys see that there is a "punch card" type thing that if you buy 6 you can redeem a free set later this year??? Pretty cool!
I went on the website and I can't find this Best of Birthdays set. I'm curious. Where is it?

Found it. I agree it isn't mind-blowing, but they have hit a different note with each image - the wrapped present is all-purpose, the cupcake with the saying is cute, the "icing on the cake" is upbeat and could be for anyone, the candles one is humorous, and the oval image is pretty. So you could buy that set and be able to make a card for pretty much anyone. Maybe that's the point. It's not a "birthday card kit" set, it's a collection.
Not rushing out to buy it, mind you.

I was dissappointed. I hope the next one is better. I showed DH the "Dude You're Welcome" set and let's just say I hope their marketing department improves.

I wasn't wowed by the birthday set but I LOVE the dude kit! I think it's so cute and DH laughed about it:-) It's silly and funny which I love of course because I"m kind of silly....

I gotta agree....just don't get the marketing. I think I'm getting too old...LOL!!
This is the first I've heard of it and I think it's a fabulous idea!
So I checked it out and it certainly seems like they chose a variety of styles - and that they're trying to be representative of different time periods, and when you do that some of the images may look out of style. But maybe that affected their choices; these could be the less "dated" looking ones? I'm no SU expert though (I've only stamped since 2007).
I am guessing the oval is the new one? Not crazy about that - I think the new one should be really current-looking and it isn't.
I will say that recently I've found in Stamper's Sampler and Take Ten that some of the most stylish and current cards feature old, old SU stamps. So I guess "dated" is in the eye of the beholder ;) !
P.S. I saw the video for the "Dude" kit - it was really cute.
"Dude"? Don't feel old, Brenda. SU should feel old for throwing that outdated expression our way.

Okay, I watched the video. I can see how the Dude kit is kind of cute.
I guess SU is in a transition period. The new website is extremely modern, so they've obviously made a statement about where they want to be headed. How they will extend that out into their products will be interesting to see.

I really don't like the one they have out right now. I would have thought they would have WOW'd us better!
They are bringing back a collection of different images from the past into one "new" set for whatever that month's theme is. So, they aren't bringing back one old set but single images from many sets.
Here's a little more info that I got from a demo's email update:
All Best of stamp sets will include 3-5 images, including a never-before seen image, and will be priced at $14.95.
While we are releasing just one Best of stamp set per month (with a new theme each month), all of the Best of sets will be available until March 31, 2014.
All Best of stamp sets are available in Clear-Mount only.
Oop....didn't read all of the email....here's the rest:
As a special incentive to collect the Best of stamps, starting in February we're including a collector's card and 25-year proof of purchase sticker with every Best of set.
Collect six stickers, and send it in to redeem a FREE set of your choice valued up to $14.95!
Free sets must be redeemed no later than April 30, 2014.

Incentives don't do a thing for me. If I like something, I might get it it. An incentive won't decide me either way. If I don't, no incentive out there will entice me to get it.
I too hope the next few offerings have more to...offer.
Oh, and I am still struggling with the new website! It just is too out there for me I guess. I haven't even found on there where they mention the Pumpkin Patch deal. I've only heard about it from my demo and the threads here. I have checked out the specific website for it, but not because I found it on SU.
All that being said, I am a SU user and fan, and I hope they keep same level of variety and quality.
Ha! I have that gift image in its original teddy bear set. I bought the set used from my friend who got it when she was a demo. It's cute, but I like a cleaner look now. It does look a bit dated. Also, from what I remember in the e-mail my demo sent, I thought the kit was $14.95 if you signed up for the kit of the month and $16.95 if you wanted to get just one to check it out. Are you saying that you can check out the kit beforehand each month, then decide if you want to buy it, and just get the one kit?
So the dude kit is for men? Is there a big market for that?

Let's start with the Dude kit.
It's designed for men to 'build' cards. SU! is hoping there's a market for it. I'd rather have a simple card from dh than a dollar store card.
On to Paper Pumpkin.
Think of it as two separate things.
There is the 'Try It' kit. It's one kit. Buy it. Try it. No subscription, just a one time purchase.
There is the subscription. You don't know ahead of time what will be in the kit. (other than the Welcome kit, which for now stays the same). You subscribe, and get the Welcome kit in your first month, and then get the monthly kits after that.
You can opt out before the 10th of each month, then you 'miss' that month's kit.
Does that make sense?
The first Paper Pumpkin kits will ship in March. You are billed each month when the kits ship.
The contents of the kits are on Pinterest and are now on the SU! website.

The Best of Series is different from the Paper Pumpkin kits. The Best of Series is a stand alone set introduced each month along with a collectors sticker. If you collect 6 (or 12) of the stickers and send them in with the collector card you get to choose 1 (or 2) stamp sets at a certain price point (I think it is $14.95 or lower). You do not get the sets automatically like the Paper Pumpkin kits. You can order the Best of sets at a workshop or from your demos website. Same with the Dude kit. The Paper Pumpkin kits are a subscription and can only be ordered from the mypaperpumpkin.com website where you enter your demos name and state. Shipping is included in those kits that ship directly to you.
Lots of new things happening, so its hard to keep them straight. We just had the annnual Leadership Conference, so they like to announce new things at that time and at our annual Convention in July.
I should also have mentioned that the Best of Sets will each be available until March of 2014, so you don't have to buy them one at a time. They are just introduced one per month.
The Paper Pumpkin kits will be different each month (forever) except for the Welcome Kit (first kit you get - has the acrylic block) and the Try it Kit (just a one time purchase to try it out - also has a block). So once a month has passed, you can't go back and get an older kit as far as we know. Just the Welcome and Try it kits will remain the same for a while they said - perhaps a year.
