I'm excited to be hosting the Scrapbooking Inspiration Challenge this year! I've been around Splitcoast for a long time, but had taken a break for a bit so some of you may know me
For those of you that don't, my name is Vicki Garrett. I'm from Kingston Ontario, which is a small city that is about halfway between Toronto and Montreal and about two hours northwest of Syracuse New York. I've been involved with paper crafting for many years and have had the opportunity to do design work in this industry for several years. I've been blessed to meet some wonderful people through this Community and am looking forward to getting to know more of you
My roots in papercrafting began in Scrapbooking and last year I made a pledge to come back to that and get some pages done! So although you will see a lot of cards in my gallery, you'll see more pages!!!
Okay enough about me........I promise not to rattle on and on every two weeks...lol Let's get to the challenge!
There are so many opportunities to get inspired each day.....gosh we can even be inspired in our own surroundings, but with the availability of social media, the possibilities are endless!!!
For this week's layout, I was inspired by an Ali Edwards Instagram Post: One Little Word. It really evoked a lot of ideas and I put a lot of consideration into choosing my word, based on my experiences over the last few years. The Words Trust, Hope, Strength, Perseverance amongst others crossed my mind.... but after thinking about it for a few days, I knew that it was FAITH. I felt that with Faith, I could have a degree of all these words in my life. I've shared the journalling on my layout in my post.
Your challenge is to create a layout based one word that is significant to you!
As always, your pages can be paper, digi or hybrid!!! Please remember to add SIC134 and sbc13jan (or whatever month you do this challenge in, because you can do this challenge anytime you want. There is no time limit!) to your keywords so we find your pages. And please post a link in this thread, so we know you did one for this challenge.
Welcome, Vicki! It's great to have you. I'm looking forward to playing your challenges when I can. This one looks great and I already have a word in mind!
OOOOOHHHHH I am excited to see that I'm not alone in here....Canadians and My International Neighbours! I am so glad you like the challenge.......PHEW.... I was sweating it a bit and from looking into past challenges, you did such a wonderful job Sharon.... a hard act to follow indeed!!! Yay! Now I am REALLY excited!!!!!
Funny...I was thinking about doing something for one word last week but I haven't come up with a good word yet. So many things happening in my life lately that I don't know which end is up! I'll have to be serious now and settle on one soon!
So I have a folder that I keep my sketch ideas and title ideas in. Some of the one word title ideas I have are : Create, Inspiration, Amazing, Miracle, Explore, Precious, Home, Friends, Sing, Laughter, Discover, Smile, Summer, Sunshine, Shout, Blessings, Live, Perfect, Tradition, Wish, Dream, Breath, Enchanted, Fearless.
I just did a few google searches and came up with this amazing list compiled on Ali Edwards' blog. She's apparently been credited with starting the one little word trend several years back.
Here is my layout for this challenge. The minute I read this challenge I had the picture in mind and the word art to use with it. This was a very hard one for me to work on. The young man in the picture is my cousin's grandson. Last year this month my cousin was taking her grandson to school and was hit by a drunk driver. 7:30 in the morning. My cousin was killed instantly and her grandson was in critical condition for weeks. He survived the accident but with many, many complications because of brain injury. He was making great progress. Last week he had his 8th operation to replace a piece of skull that had to be removed at the time of the accident. Surgery went well, but complications from the surgery happened later that day and he died. However, four young people have a new lease on life because of him. The lady in the picture is my Aunt, she will be 93 this year, great-grandmother to the young man. My cousins Mother. Rest in peace Ev.
Oh my word Marcia, what a tragedy. I am so so sorry for the loss of your loved one... please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers..I have lost a Brother due to the Stupidity of a Drunken Driver and I certainly know how you are all feeling... so sad. The four people who have been helped by him are greatly blessed. His first task as an Angel.
Thanks so much for playing the challenge. I'm going to have a peek at your layout now
Hugs and Love,
Vicki'

My word is balance. Last year my word was simplify... hmmmm, I see a pattern. lol. I chose a photo of myself which I NEVER do - so b/w that and the journaling this was a little out of my comfort zone. But, in the end it was almost therapeutic! So, thank you for the challenge Vicki. I'm hopeful I can follow through with my word for 2013!
This was for a few scrapbook challenges: goal, inspiration, & variety. I used the attached as inspiration; I was bouncing around sites so much yesterday so I'm not sure where I got it from so sorry that I'm not giving the proper credit, marlakress is the id on my computer :-(.
I attached fine in the Goals but won't let me attach the inspiration page here. Check out post 251 HERE to see it.
