Question Favourite Cuttlebug folders?

I'm getting a Cuttlebug for Christmas (yay!), and I just found out I won a $50 gift card for Amazon.ca! I think it's imperative I use that $50 for embossing folders, don't you? So my question is, which is your absolute go-to, wouldn't-be-without, use-all-the-time, love-love-love CB embossing folder?

TIA!
Pip

Congratulations on your win. My favorite Cuttlebug folder is Swiss Dots aka Dotted Swiss. It's a bunch of small dots that make the perfect background for most any card. Have fun picking out your new folders.

Swiss Dots and Divine Swirls, both by ProvoCraft. Hands down!

You're gonna LOVE that Bug! It etches and bends your B plates when you do die cuts. That's normal. Cracking sounds when you cut are also normal. Just be careful not to force really thick things through.

I have Swiss Dots and use it constantly.

I do find that Cuttlebug EF's are slightly narrower than Sizzix EF's. At least the few I have are.

You know, of course, that you won't be limited to Cuttlebug EFs.

My fav folders (these are both Sizzix) are Finial Press and Argyle. And I have a PTI Impression Plate in Canvas/Linen that I use constantly. All will work in your CB, but for the Impression Plate you will need the embossing mats.

Welcome to your new obsession/addiction!

Like the others say, there are masses of generic folders out there, not just Cb ones. Don't know if he's your thing, but there are masses of Tim Holtz/Sizzix folders. I'd agree with the others about Swiss Dots, its a must have. I have a nice lattice one that I use all the time- and another thing to remember, to give you twice the useability- you can have debossed as well as embossed! Just flip the folder over. Speaking of flippeing the folder over, the Impressabilities are great- you get two patterns on one folder.

I have a lot of folders. I love their snowflake one (great for all winter), Swiss Dot, Thank You (has the word in various languages), Happy Birthday one and tons of Tim Holtz ones. They work in the Cuttlebug as well.

I love the Swiss Dots, snowflakes, spider web, woodgrain texture and Swirl folder, BUT

think about purchasing a C plate so you can cut using Spellbinders, Nestabilities or other framelits using your Cuttlebug! You can only cut using the C plate because it's thicker.

I have a Cricut, but using my Cuttlebug for making cuts in the middle of cards and pictures takes it to another level!

I prefer sizzix EF to cuttle bug as some one mentioned because of the size. I can do a full quarter sheet. That said, I LOVE my cuttlebug diamond plate folder. It's perfect for guy cards and looks amazing when you emboss silver paper.

Still after all this time my favourites include Swiss Dots, D'Vine Swirl and I think it might be called Textile Textures. I just recently started keeping those three where I could find them quickly as they're my go-to choices. That's not to say there aren't plenty more I love, but for me those are the most versatile.
I like to have a few 7x5 ones too, for doing a whole card-front.

I love ALL embossing folders!!! I love the exclusive SU folders. But I buy sssssooooo many embossing folders. Darice has some great folders!!!! At AC Moores, they run about $3.99/folder. I am not sure on amazon what they run but I do know that they carry them.
Any of them will work in your cuttlebug but becareful because Darice makes a 5X7 folder which will not fit in the cuttlebug. Other than that....shop away!!!

I love Tim Holtz as well.

Ditto for the Swiss Dots! I'm also getting hooked on the Darice folders now especially when they're on sale at AC Moore for $2.

Binkiemonstermom, I have the original CB and have no problem using the Darice folders. I wonder if its the newer model that has the problem?

See, this is why, as a Canadian crafter, I get so frustrated--the Darice folders up here seem to run between $6-$8 apiece. And of course AC Moore doesn't ship to Canada. ARGH!

Anyway, I shall keep searching! Thank you so much, everyone, for your suggestions! I think the Swiss Dots and D'vine Swirl are now on the top of my shopping list.

I have read on SCS that you can use many different brands of folders and dies in the CB, and when I started looking, it's a bit overwhelming how many there are, lol! I thought I'd start with a few CB folders just to get used to the machine, and then branch out. A lot of my choice will be dictated by cost, though, unfortunately. The CB folders are only $4.99 on Amazon.ca, in general, which seems to be the cheapest.

Unless cuttlebug changed something the C plate is in the box with the rest I too love the swiss dots. I also love the rose one from SU Happy Shopping!

I can not do a card without CB folder embossing. they look so plain. I love all my folders. Swiss dots is my go to folder . I love to make up a set of embossed notecards wrap them in a ribbon and give as a gift. Whenever we are invited to weddings I do a bunch of thank you cards, just embossed on white cardstock, with envelopes and in a pretty gift bag always a HUGE hit and very little cost (yeah right dont' consider how much $$$ I have invested in embossing folders but I use em a lot.)

Swiss dots, wood grain, branches, and the decorative tile set are the ones I use most. The wood grain is from SU, not CB.

Darice has an animal print 4-pack (giraffe, leopard, croc, and peacock) that I love.

I have a few that I can't ever seem to work in properly: Bird call, all of the decorate squares and border folders, and SU's northern flurries. I should probably put those on B/S/T.

Any other box stores that carry the Darice folders besides AC Moore? We don't have ACM in this are?

Have to toss in my favorites, with the thought that you may not have put your order in yet. .
Tim Holtz wood grain/ brick duo - both of these folders are well used and loved at my house.

Cuttlebug border set Just My Type - has THE best vine sprig border on the market - also has 1" wide Swiss dot border, and 3 separate sewing related folders (row of tiny mixed design buttons, zigzag stitch and soft scallop edge). This set is a great starter set because you get 5 designs to use separately or combine with each other or other background ef's. Here is a peek at that set:
Amazon.com: Cuttlebug just my type embossing folders: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

Bird call by Cuttlebug - it is an awesome design with swamp grass and a bird perched on one of the stems. The design complements SU Inspired by Nature stamp set. It is perfect to use alone on a card front as the main design and it is my "go to" folder when making thinking of you and sympathy cards, and is very workable for general cards for an unspecified purpose. Here's what it looks like:

Amazon.com: Cuttlebug A2 Embossing Folder, Bird Call: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

Enjoy picking your folders!
