Hi, I am trying to make a card like this:

I am using Cat Eye chalks and wondering if those are different from the SU chalks or if it's just me. All I end up with is little blops of color and the image does not show through. I have thought about using a sponge so it's not so dotty but I have a feeling that it will look the same. Am I pressing too hard? Can anyone help? Thanks!

Are you using Cat's Eye chalks or Cat's Eye Chalk Ink???? I would think if it's just chalk, it should be okay. If it's Chalk Ink...that's like pigment ink and it's probably just too wet! Just a thought.

There is a big difference between chalk ink pads and actual chalk. Not saying it can't be done with chalk ink pads but it's a different product in and of itself, so you aren't necessarily going to get the same or similar results.

I did not know there was chalk and chalk ink...I bet mine is chalk ink. The writing on the stack is worn off so that all I can read is "chalk". I will have to go find some actual chalk and try it out. Thanks ladies!!

If you look at the pallette she's using, you can see what she's got there is dry (some of the segments are cracked), it's not an ink at all. Being a powder means that it will stick to the Versamark but not to the dry paper. What's in your cat's eye queue is ink and when you dab it on the cardstock it will colour wherever it touches, not just stick to the Versamark image.

If you have anything like Perfect Pearls, you can do a similar thing and get a a shimmery finish, too!

Thanks, I guess I did not know that it was a big difference between chalks...I thought chalk was chalk. Learn something new everyday

I think the name and the fact that some of the writing is worn off your stack might be contributing to the confusion here - what you have is chalk ink (ie ink with a chalky finish), not chalk per se. There is a difference between chalks (some are softer and more highly pigmented than others) but I guess that's a different discussion ;)
