Don'tcha just LOVE it when you "rediscover" an old technique? Something you haven't used in a looooong time? And when you do it again you wonder WHY you have neglected it for so long???
That's where I came up with today's challenge ... to "rediscover" the emboss resist technique. Basically, you stamp your image in Versamark, heat emboss it with clear embossing powder, then sponge the image with one (or MORE) colors of ink ... then wipe the ink away from the embossed areas and see what's left!!
When I first got this lovely new Swallowtail stamp a few weeks back, this is the FIRST thing that came to mind for me to do with it ... so I did!!

Fabulous technique Wendy! It's always fun to try old things again. I had left my heat gun out after using it for a few holiday cards in hopes that I'd use it more....perfect timing! Can't wait to get home from work tonight to create!
Thanks for a super challenge! I'll have to admit that I don't remember if I've completed a project with this technique - I've only played with it a bit. I've checked out all the submissions so far and they are so beautiful. I'm putting on my thinking cap and I'll post a card later.
Thanks to everyone who has left sweet and encouraging comments earlier this week. I know ya'll are a terrific group and I'll make an effort to participate and be more sociable. Now I have to do my chores while I'm thinking up what to make for this challenge...hmmm....

Love it, Wendy! Emboss Resist is one of my all-time favorite techniques : ) I haven't had a chance to do a challenge in a couple of weeks due to two cataract surgeries this month and all the Christmas busy-ness. I hope to join in with this one later today!

Well this wasn't as easy (or as much fun) as I thought it would be, but I did end up with one card after attempting this technique on three different flowers. I'll try it again some time.
I am very impressed with all the beautiful results in the emboss resist gallery.
Here are two cards I did for today's challenge. Card 1 Card 2
Thanks for a fun challenge Wendy. It's been a long time since I've done this technique.

Okie Dokie ~ I finally finished my card last night, but I didn't feel like posting it then. Thank you for a great challenge - it was truly a challenge! Maybe I'll play with it again later, but I'm just not thrilled with my results. Everyone else's cards are just beautiful. Maybe I just need more practice or I have too heavy of hand for the sponging? I do appreciate having to stretch myself though. That's the only way we learn, right?
Here's my very final Christmas card for this year for this challenge! It should be a belated one really as it's late, but that's ok as it's for my ironing lady who was away for Christmas and I don't have her home address to post it to.
