Default Pantone Colour of the Year for 2013

So Pantone has announced the colour of the year for 2013: Emerald Green.

Emerald - Pantone Color of the Year 2013: - Color trends, color palettes , Pantone 17-5641 TCX.

Emerald Green named Colour of the Year 2013: Would you wear it? | Shine On - Shine from Yahoo! Canada

So do you use an emerald type shade in your stamping? Would you add an emerald type shade to your stamping?
Love it?
Hate it?

I don't use it, but I think largely because I don't have any paper or ink anywhere near that colour - I generally tend to stick to more muted greens.

Would anyone consider the new gumball green in-colour to be emerald?

I definitely wouldn't consider Gumball Green as Emerald. But as a lover of all things green, I am very keen to see an SU! version of this!

Ditto! I'm a lover of all things green, too. This looks like a cross between a kelly green and an aqua teal. I've seen this color pop up in a lot of clothing and paper crafting this year, but I haven't seen a ton of it in home interior.

Green is a fresh color that signals growth...something we can all use it a little more of in 2013.

While I love the color of a real emerald, I'm definitely not a fan of the emerald greens shown in fabrics and designs. The true emerald green produced in nature just doesn't seem to come across well when they try to re-create it for home decor, fashion, etc. I'll stick to the manufactured greens that come closer to the true nature greens. Somehow, so many of the manufactured emerald greens make people and things look sick or old/worn.

I agree! I think of emerald green as a darker, primary green color (the old Glorious Green) not this lighter, bluer green. I was going to prove my point by referencing the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz, but guess what. It's a pale bluer green too! Who knew.

Another green lover here; just changed my bedroom from one green to another. Not having seen what they're calling "emerald" in person, I'm going with my impression of what I think emerald is (and I'm no industry expert), and I LOVE it. Every Christmas, I cast about for a green that isn't too yellow/limey or too olive/earthy, but rather more of a Christmas/Kelly green. And emerald is definitely on the right track!

As far as wearing it, I don't know if it would look good on me, but I'll definitely craft with it.

I agree with the OP who said she would not consider gumball green an emerald green; to me, emerald has more blue in it than gumball. Just my opinion.

I love greens, too. This one makes me say hmmm; doesn't look modern or fresh to me at all. Can't think of any great combinations, either. Maybe it will grow on me. I was hoping to love it and have all sorts of fashion, decorating and crafting ideas spring to mind.

I like to use green in crafting, but tend to lean toward the more muted greens...like the original poster mentioned.

In general I like muted colors better (in clothing, crafts, decor), but would use the brighter green shown with other brights for children's cards, fun/cute birthday cards...that kind of thing.

I absolutely love it! But I don't think I've met a green I didn't love. This one is so bright and happy. I would wear it. I would decorate with it. And I would craft with it.

Nope, Gumball Green isn't right.

I like emerald green when it is spread across the fields of the Emerald Isle (Ireland).

As for color combinations, it looks like it could be paired with yellow; aqua, navy, or cobalt blue; and, of course, white.

This Emerald green is more blue and darker than Gumball Green. I love it, green's my favorite color and it can work as a main color, accent or neutral. (Although I shied away from greens during the awful Avocado Green era of the 70's.) SU usually has a green in their yearly batch, so we may see something much darker than their InColor greens of the past 3 years.

I definitely tend more towards yellow-greens (if you're a Copic person I love the YG21-23-25 family) and don't really like/use emerald or Kelly greens.. But I'll have to see! Fashion and trends always seem to change my opinions!

I love that green!! I would definitely wear it but not to sure I would stamp with it. I am a lover of green. Have a lot of it throughout my whole house. Gumball is definitely not emerald green. I do like it for Christmas. GB that is.

I was glad to see the visual for these colors! Many of the colors are SU! equivalents but notice the two greens really have no current SU! equivalent (the closest retired colors would be Glorious Green and Sage Shadow). I've lamented that SU! discontinued all it's cool-toned greens (Sage Shadow, Glorious Green and Handsome Hunter) I loved the cooler greens so maybe we'll get one in the new catalog with the next In-colors.

I have nothing like that shade in my vast collection of inks. I do have the retired Glorious Green and Sage Shadow, Handwome Hunter as Rachel mentioned above. I do like this color, but I won't be looking for ink in that shade, as I have a lot of greens. I would however, use papers or embellishments in that shade if I happened across them.

The color in the link looks more teal than emerald to me. I think it's a very 80s color and I don't mean that in a good way. It looks cheap.

I call that "stop light" green. I had an outfit that colour back in the 70's - not sure I'd wear it now - I love it with navy and white, though. It would go best on CAS cards rather than anything vintage that seems to be in vogue, now.

I adore green too, but this shade is just a little too cool for me. I will use it for sure, but not near as much as I would a warmer green!

Love those combinations; all of them! I also love the emerald green! Probably because of the actual emerald stone; I've always thought emerald was a pretty green, and I, too, prefer the cooler greens over the warmer, yellowy ones.

And, yes, I would wear it - will have to see what they come out with; maybe just as an accent and not the whole outfit. LOL

It is a pretty color. I do agree with the consensus that this is more of a blueish green instead of a true emerald green. I would definitely use it, not sure about wearing it, though.

I love emerald green being a May baby and that is my birthstone. lol I love it with navy as well. I think of it as a traditional color and would pair it with muted golds and deeper reds

I've never liked green. There are so many ugly shades, but I am learning to embrace the hue. I love this shade in the right spot. thanks for sharing.

[Emerald green is a beautiful color, in both its teal range and the green range. I look for this color all the time. I have some ink that is very close to the emerald, and I use it. I love happy, bright colors with their rich values. I'm glad the color is back !

I wonder it SU will develop an in-color based on it. I like it, it looks like a teal on my monitor.

I wonder how SU develops those in-colors. I am very sad to see the 2010-2012 group go, there wasn't one I didn't love at first sight. The new batch took some getting use to. I've learned to love all of them now except the green. Gumball Green is just not for me.
