I have a Making Memories self-sharpening rotary cutter and I really like it. I've been using it for a couple years now I think and its been working great. No need to replace blades and cuts cleanly each time. I even cut heavy cardstock (200#) that I use for making boxes and it hasn't faltered once. You can get them at Michaels with a coupon. I'd wait till you can use a 50% off coupon if you can hold out for one.

It is especially good for multiple pages at a time, but I use it also for single cuts all the time. I've worn out two Making Memories rotary cutters....the first time, the company did replace it, the second time I gave up.
Don't know if you have already purchased a rotary paper cutter. I have several cutters, and have just purchased this Fiskars: Fiskars - 12 Inch Premium Cut-Line Portable Trimmer - Blade Style I . It comes so highly recommended in some classes I've taken, and the reviews are all good on the site I linked to. I used a coupon and purchased one at Michael's.

I second the Carl cutter. I use it to cut multiple pages for books, thick chipboard, magnet sheets, etc.
I had a Making Memories cutter and I did not like it. I also tried out the new Fiskars Pro-trimmer and did not like that. So I just use a regular Fiskars trimmer for 1 or 2 pieces of cardstock and use the Carl for heavy duty stuff. I have read many awesome reviews of the Genesis; but I would need it to cut chipboard and large amounts of paper for the price.
I have one of the old rotary blade Fiskar's cutters. It works well but it is huge and impossible to take out of the house for gatherings elsewhere. I then tried one of the small Fiskar's with the little square, orange blade. That thing does not cut a straight line. I tried a friend's Cutterpede and liked it. It is portable and cuts a straight line. Mine is a little bowed in the middle and flexes a bit so sometimes I have to cut more than once as the bowed section doesn't cut the first time. My friend's doesn't do that so I should have exchanged mine when I first bought it. It is very reasonably priced - under $20 at Hobby Lobby and of course I used a 40% off coupon! If you go to crafting events outside your home, be sure to consider portability. I also recommend that you buy a brand that you can readily buy replacement blades and cutting pad strips. Good luck. There are so many to choose from!
If you want to buy ONE trimmer and never buy another one again....Genisis all the way!!!

I've had the Carl 210 for years and love it. I have yet to replace a blade and have only turned over/replaced the mat a few times - I do a lot of prep for stamp clubs and classes and it is ideal; clean, crisp cuts and can handle several sheets of cs at a time. I am intrigued about the Genesis, though - I'm a sucker for trimmers! I also use and love the Tonic guilliotine cutter and the Fiskers Triple Track trimmer.

I will say that I love love love my genisis one. It is well made, top of the line. I also recently got a cutterpillar trimmer which is very similar to the genisis in design but I would say it is cheaper made (plastic vs the gensis one that is heavy duty) BUT....it cuts nicely and pretty similar in design. And it has an edgelight. The genisis isn't in the budge for everyone, the cutterpillar is pretty nice for the money.
I am addicted to cutters as well so I am thrilled to find two that I love!!! I would not take the genisis to crops, to heavy but the cutterpillar will be going with me!!!
I have the Carl (have had it for years now) and it's terrific. I think I paid btwn $80-$100 for it. It will probably last me for my lifetime. I specifically got this cutter (rather than a Genesis) because the Carl cutter can cut thick materials and I use a lot of matboard and thicker chipboard. The Carl does a great job for me and the blades last a very long time.
For thinner materials, I use the Fiskar's trimmer that takes the 'I' blade. It has a wire so you can see exactly where you're cutting (works great!) and the 'I' blade now comes in Titanium which, according to Jennifer McGuire, should last a very long time (I have one of the Titanium blades but I haven't used it yet). This trimmer comes in various (maybe 3) sizes so there is something for everyone and it's very inexpensive (I think mine was maybe $12 to $13 without a coupon).
