Default PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE #6 TASK 3 (Nov. 2012)

As I'm sure it was last month for our Canadian friends, here in the U.S. it’s a very busy Thanksgiving week, so I thought we’d make this task quick and easy. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!! Just as
Don’t know what a Progressive Challenge is? Go here to learn.
PLEASE NOTE! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to play--whether they're a digi, paper or hybrid scrapper!

PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE #6 – TASK 3 (Nov. 2012)

Add two or more embellishments on top of and/or around the edges of the photo cluster. Make at least one of them a string, ribbon, bow, twine or other similar type of embellishment.

Add a word strip, preferably one you have made yourself.

Be sure you’ve added drop shadows where necessary.

 NOW UPLOAD:

Remember to first save your page in its original version (.psd for Photoshop) to maintain your layers, so you'll be able to make changes/additions in Task 4 (final).

Save your page for the web as a .jpg (600x600 or less) & upload to the Challenge 6-Task 3 Gallery by adding the keyword DGSCPR006Task3 when you upload.

Please also post a link to this week’s work in this thread.

Have fun!

What would a drop shadow be in traditional scrapping?

Default Drop Shadows

Good question! Basically, drop shadows are added digitally to create the effect of shadows behind items on a page that would occur naturally in traditional scrapping (since in digi, the papers and elements are all one dimensional to start with.) Depending on the direction of light, the shadows are different depths based on their height and closeness to the page.

So, you'll be ahead of the game on those since they already exist on your traditional page! ;)

The drop shadow is created by adding layers of real paper or foam demensional, when somethin is on a higher physical level it creates a shadow , however slight so if you are layering a page then it is there, we have to add that effect in the digital plane

I must have ESP!! When I did Task 1 last night I didn't adhere my pic down. I figured I'd add the items for Task 2 then pop that picture out. Well I'm headed to the craft corner for Task 2!

here's mine

i kept it minimal. ribbon and an eyelet and then my word thing. i cut it from a larger paper and used an action to curl it up. i erased layers of the ribbon or brooch so it would appear that the ribbon is weaving in and out of the brooch. tedious but it makes things look more natural.

Here's Task 3. I goofed on Task 2 so I made a correction. As I read Task 3, I see I had already added a strip with 1 word (I was thinking journaling). So I added another paper embelishment (dog bone because he's a dog) which I should have used for Task 2. I'm back on track now...LOL!!

It's hard to see but the 3 circles in the lower left are 3 mirrors to represent the mirror DGS is looking into.

Well first of all I didn't save my page correctly after each task - oops! Second, I misunderstood the little word (where Wendy has the word beautiful) and didn't put my title in the right spot. LOL
