Dont know what a Progressive Challenge is? Please go here to learn.
PLEASE NOTE! Although this is in the digiscrap threads, anyone is welcome to play--whether they're a digi, paper or hybrid scrapper.
PROGRESSIVE CHALLENGE 5 TASK 2 (OCT. 2012)
Add clusters comprised of at least two elements each on two of the four corners of the photo .
Add one or two embellishments to the horizontal paper strips added in Task 1.
Select and copy a portion of the a photo on your page and add it to your background, reducing the opacity to blend it into the paper. (mine: cat eyes.) [Non-digiscrappers might have some trouble doing this part. One idea--If you have a scanner and printer, you could scan your photo and print it on an acrylic sheet, then add to page. Be creative! (You can leave this step out if you'd like.)
If desired, add a second blended embellishment to the background (mine: ncat at bottom right).
NOW UPLOAD:
- Remember to first save your page in its original version to maintain your layers, so you'll be able to make additions in Task 3.
- Save your page for the web as a .jpg (600x600 or less) & upload to the Challenge ??-Task ?? Gallery by adding the keyword DGSCPR005Task2 when you upload. Please also post a link to this weeks work in this thread. MY TASK 2 PAGE
Got the first one done ... since I just finished Task 1 last night, I kept working to add Task 2. (yeah ... I'm addicted).
The more I work on this page, the more I like it ...
And now I have an idea to CASE this to make a page with my daughter as the central image (maybe ds too) with their grandmother in the background. Loreen (Task 2) by basketballmom - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers

Your page is lovely, Gail. You hardly need two more tasks!!
Just added my page. I am having a lot of fun with this challenge. I changed my page a little bit, deleted the stitches I used to begin with. Found some I liked better. That is what is nice about digi scrapping, if you want to change something you can do so in no time.
the challenge for me is to follow the challenge and still follow my heart. i probably could have stopped after task one and been happy. but with much thought and with much use of the undo button, i have arrived at something that still satisfies my less is more ideas.
i forgot to mention in the description that my photo portion is in the bottom left corner of the page. i extracted the branch/leaves and put it on another layer and then flipped it and finally blended it into the page.
What is this??? Ha A conspiracy to get paper scrappers to convert to digi with all the really cool options with computer graphics?? LOL! How cool are those cat eyes!
I'm going to give adding a protion of my picture to the background a try..........
Wendy, I assume you mean the photo in the left corner. I took your suggestion by reducing the opacity with options on my printer, then printed/copied my picture onto vellum. It gives it that blended look when layered over other papers.
Everyone's pages are looking great! I am actually having a hard time & wondering if this is normal when first using digi? Just cannot seem to find what works with my pics & think its the 1st paper choice. For the challenge, should I keep what have and just go with next steps without changes previous elements?

In my opinion, the most important thing is to make pages that please you, so if you want to change your paper or something else, go for it.
It's great that you're playing and you don't need to get discouraged! One of the joys of digi is you can keep changing things until you're happy without wasting a thing! I'd much rather see you do that than give up on the challenge or digi-scrapping! :p

Okay will do thanks - just uploaded task 2 and enjoyed being able to cut the feet imprint from the actual pic and added to paper.

I'm with you! It's my favorite site online! I've made lots of friends and even though I've only met one gal in person when she visited AZ last year, I love the support and comaraderie here. Glad you're enjoying it too! ;)
so if anyone can't sleep come online here...there are plenty of us online..I even have a friend in Austraila 14 hours AHEAD!
Yes I agree this is a great site with very supportive and helpful people. I have learned so much from people here...there are no stupid questions here.

Generally, I think crafters are just a nice bunch of people! I just came from a craft fair where I spent considerable time talking with some of the other vendors about their projects and our love of crafting! Didn't sell much, but enjoyed chatting! lol
A great challenge this week, I tried a couple of ideas for getting a photo into the background. It was really fun and challenged me to use my computer and edit the photo which I dont usally do. A really different look resulted . Thanks for the challenge Wendy!

Michele, I've learned PSE that way. Trial and error and lots of tutorials have taught me everything I know! I remember it better when I learn the hard way! lol
