I bought a memory box die yesterday and a matching stamp. Since memory box stamps aren't clear, can anyone help me on how to get the two lined up correctly? Thanks.
There are others around that I've seen. Dave Brethauer the owner and designer of Memory Box stamps/dies has some you tube videos as well about using his stamps and dies together
If they are framelits- stamp first then cut. You will be able to line up the framelit over your stamped image.
If they are big dies, then sometimes it is easier to cut and then turn your stamp upside down and place your cut out piece on the stamp and rub. Hope that makes sense and it helps!
Memory Box dies are like some other dies that have matching stamps. The dies have 'reference' circles that help cut the stamped image using the dies. Once you do it once, it is easy.
I am not familiar with memory box dies, but I usually stamp first and then cut (even with clear stamps).

I use this method, too. You may have to put a shim in your sandwich to get a clean cut with this one depending on your machine and the die.
First cut a piece of cardstock with your die (better to use dark cardstock - this will become your guide for die placement). Stamp image - I find it easier to color before cutting. Use your opening from your dark CS guide to frame the image, put your die in the open space and add a Post-it to secure in place. Run through your die cut machine.

What kind of stamp positioner was she using in that video? I've never seen one like it.

I already have a Stamp a Ma Jig which works well, but I am intrigued by that one. I use my stamp positioner constantly, could not do without it.

I think framelits are Hero Arts. I have quite a few memory box dies and they do not have reference or guide holes. They have holes to poke out the paper bits. Can you use them for lining up the dies?

Oh, to line up I just use a very clean block and go slowly and carefully. I practice on a scrap to help me learn exactly how it looks when lined up. I don't understand how a stamp positioner helps when the die cut is so close to the size of the stamp. There isn't any paper to place the positioner on to hold the paper still.
Also, a stamp press can help for tricky lining up situations of many kinds. I have the Fiskars one but I forget to use it many times in which it would be useful!

I have watched several videos about lining up dies with stamped images, but all of them refer to using dies that are quite open. I'm trying to line up the SB poinsettias with stamped images and am going mad! LOL. Because the die is more solid than most, it can't really be taped in position. Anyone else used this set and have any hints. TIA Dianne
I don't know that die - I thought SB was Spellbinders, but do the poinsettias have matching stamps? I must be wrong about what SB means.
But have you tried the method suggested by Jeanne S above? I use the "negative template" method with many of my closed back dies. It is more work, but it is the only way for me to get the results I want with some of my dies, particularly my Papertrey dies. They are very annoying to work with. I wish they would make their dies with an open back.
What do you mean by "more solid than most" and why can't it be taped into position? I'm able to secure even my Papertrey dies that are grouped. It takes fussing with the angle on the platform, but I can do it.

You are right. SB does stand for Spellbinders. The die set is the Layered Poinsettia and the matching stamp set is from Heartfelt Creations. I have tried the negative template, but when you look at the videos they tell you to make sure the tape actually makes contact with your stamped piece. The only openings in the poinsettias is the tiny hole that create the embossed veining. Can't tape to the stamped image.
I am having a hard time understanding why you can't stamp your image on a piece of card stock and the line up the opening in your template over it and tape them together. I just don't know this set so it's hard to picture the difficulty.
But I did find a thread about this set. The video link on the thread is no longer active, but the OP might be able to tell you how she solved the problem. You could pm her.
Or: Have you tried calling Heartfelt Creations? Or Spellbinders? Customer service at one or the other can probably help you.

The problem, Rachel, is that once you position the template over the image, and then lay the die down again there are no openings to use to stitch the 2 together. The only openings in the die are the tiny, tiny ones, that create the embossedveining on the petals. I have looked at several of the Heartfelt videos and in each one, she uses a die that has a large open space in the middle. However, I have developed my own work around to get this job done. It was very tedious but nonetheless it is finished and I can move on to the next stages of making my cards.

I'm glad you found a workaround so that you could get done what you needed to do. If it were me, I would still call Heartfelt Creations and get someone to explain how someone should use the dies with the stamps. Then you would know for next time - or for the next person who buys them and then posts here on how difficult they are to use!!
