Help with a stamp not getting evenly inked

I have a house mouse stamp that I cant get to ink evenly. There are spots that no matter how much ink I get on it.. It wonk ink on the paper. Does anyone have any suggestions how i can get this to stamp on the paper. Thanks. I am new here sorry if I posted this in the wrong are.

Some stamps need to be conditioned before you can stamp with them. Take an eraser like on the end of a pencil, and rub the stamp with the eraser. This takes off any film that the manufacturing might leave on. Then try the stamp again. I am not sure if this is for your particular problem, but 9 times out of 10 it works.

It might be that your stamp is faulty or have you had it stored where something has pressed onto the surface causing indents which won't touch the paper?

One thing you could try is to ink your stamp and then lay it on your craft mat impression side up, place your card on top and gently rub your hand over it. This will transfer the image and show any indents.

Another thing you can try is to ink your stamp with Versamark (but don't stamp it), ink it with your ink, and then stamp it. That and the eraser trick work for me most of the time. Also, place a magazine or mousepad under your paper. That gives the stamp a little cushion. Hope that helps a little!

If it seems that the stamp is indeed defective, you could try calling House Mouse. They give excellent customer service and replaced a stamp I had purchased for a gift with no fuss.

I was taught to LIGHTLY rub a fine grit sandpaper (like the one I use when distressing or even an emery board) in one direction over the stamp. When the stamp is made, there is usually a light film on it that causes the ink to bead up and not adhear in areas. After I did that, my ink is very even!

Without knowing the size of the stamp. Or whether its rubber or acrylic.

My best recommendation would be to lay the stamp, stamp side up and ink it that way. Then I would put the cardstock on top of the stamp. So basically I'd just try using the stamp backwards.
