Just wondering which techniques you guys use the most or like the best? I guess mine would be plain old coloring (with copics). I always like the way they blend and how awesome they make my cards look (I also really love coloring). Coloring is a very personal thing too. It makes the reciever of the card feel special. Anyway, I like to try a new technique anytime I can, as I'm sure you guys do too. So, some inspiration is always good. What's your favorites?

P.S. One of my favorite embellishments is bakers twine. It's easy to use and you can make it yourself. Which is perfect, because stores never have the colors I need. :p

That's a good question. Most of my cards have sanding paper, stitching and of course coloring with Copics on them. I also love the Out of the Box technique for images that don't quite fit into a die cut shape.
Oh...and I like sponging edges. Oh...and how about paper piecing? Combined with shading those pieces with your copics it can give your image more texture. It's fun to "dress" up your image with patterned paper pieces.
Like you and Beate I love to do some colouring (Copics, pencils or watercolouring with inks, depends on my mood!).
The oldies but goodies keep me endlessly entertained. I love masking (the first technique I learned that made me go "Oooh!") and still get a little childish thrill at the "magic" when you peel the mask off to reveal images that seem to be layered one behind another.
Emboss resist techniques always appeal to me, too and at this time of year they're great for snowflake images! Embossing the image with clear or white powder and sponging inks over the top can give a really pretty effect.
Brayering ink onto an embossing folder to get colour in the recessed areas of the design always adds a bit of a wow factor and is easy to do.
Playing with supplies and doing really "basic" things with them pleases me as well - pressing an inkpad directly onto a card base for a colour block is one of my favourites. The Distress pads are a really nice size and shape for this and the new Jenni Bowlin pads from Ranger are a cute size rectangle, too. Who needs shadow stamps, huh? :lol:
Thanks guys, It's really fun to hear what other people like to add to their cards. Using sand paper is something I never tried before, but I will now. Stamping directly to the card is something I never even thought of. I do have some tiny square ink pads somewhere around here though.

I've attached a sample done with a Distress pad so you can see how it looks (this is a one layer card and the colour is Bundled Sage). The tiny cubes might be fun for a moasic kind of effect - come back and show us if you try!

That card looks great for something so simple. Would be great for gift sets or some event where you need many cards. Will make sure to post a photo when I try it out.

Triple stamping. It is so simple to do but it looks like it took a lot of work. I just tried this technique for the first time a few weeks ago for an SCS card swap and I will be using it, and trying variations, again and again !

What a great idea, Joanne. I love your card! Of course I could never make that card. I would do what you did and then have to put twenty other things on it. I'm SO not a CAS gal. I buy them, but I can't make them. All that white space makes me jittery.
But I'm going to try a background using my DI direct to paper as color blocks one of these days. If I get anything good, I'll be sure to give you a shout out in the gallery!
