Double Embossing
I am interested in trying double embossing where you run two different embossing folders over the same CS, one after the other, to get both images overlapping/intertwining. Does anyone know which embossing folders work well together to achieve a great effect, please?
Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions! !

Wouldn't this be kinda tricky since the second pass through might smash the first? I think I'll try maybe something like the CB Swiss Dots and Devine Swirl where there's some space in between.

Experiment I just did this actually with 6 different folders. They all turned out well. Cobrylin the idea is to smash the 1st design.

There is no where to add a photo. Check out my blog on the 1st. I made a tutorial for a group I belong to. It shows the 3 samples I made.

You can add a photo .
Click on Go Advanced to reply.
Then if you click on the little paperclip icon above the box for typing in, it brings up the dialogue box for adding attachments. HTH.

I have just posted my first two samples in my gallery.
In the first one, to create a background, I centred the frame and debossed it, then coloured it lightly with sponge and light inks. Next, I placed my background in the second folder and set the folder slightly off centre so the birds were mainly inside the frame and then embossed it. I used darker inks to highlight the bird folder features.
In the second sample, I followed the same process but centred the bird folder over the background.
The photos make the birds look more transparent than they actually do.
Here are the links to them if you would like to have a look:

Please post any folders which you know will work well together.

I did something accidently using my crimper first and then using the SU vintage wallpaper embossing folder which looked really effective. I have since tried it using SU square lattice folder first and then Vintage Wallpaper folder and that looked great too.

Beautiful card Pat. The other day I saw a card using a snowflake EF (can't remember if it was Northern Flurry) and Swiss Dots for a nice snowy background.
Can't wait to try this.

I did this with the same folder (musical flourishes). The first time I colored it on the debased side (so the background picked up the color. Then I ran it through again flipping the image over and coloring the embossed surface in a darker color. I found this somewhere and tried it. It works great.

Thanks for your kind words. Would probably work with many other folders as well, but this one happens to be a favorite.

This is a great technique! I never thought of doing this before. May I ask, what embossing folder did you that had the leaves on it. It is really pretty.
thanks!

double embossing technique from Nilda
a couple of years ago, I found Nilda's technique for double embossing, I emailed her and asked her permission to write up her instructiions, she gladly gave me permission. (uses cuttlebug)
It turns out very nice, and you could put a stamp in the middle. I have them in pdf form and I will glady share the technique
if you want to email me at [email protected] with double embossing in the subject line.
here is her site
the cuttlebug spot: Double embossing with Cuttlebug and nestabilities
