My bug is not cutting or embossing paper on the side where the handle is located. I have been just turning the sandwich around and sending it through a second time. But I dont know how much time is left for my bug.
What machine comes after the bug? I have read some not favorable things about the second generation Cuttlebug. The Vagabond is super cool but I dont want to have to rely on electricity.
I love the size and how simple the Cuttlebug is to use. So what do you all suggest?
Hello! I have the V2 bug and have not had any problems with mine ;) The handle is a bit different (not crazy about it) but other then that I don't see a difference. I have used it for die cutting (nesties, & other thinn dies) and embossing folders all of which came out just fine!

I feel the same about the electric part. I have the newer CB too and love it!! Never have regretted the purchase once(just wish it was Pink haha). Love the fact it takes up less space since that is a big issue for me. And it works perfect for everything!!! I use it all the time!! My Cuttlebug is still working well, after several years of hard use. If it ever breaks, which sadly, it probably will at some point, I will buy whatever new version is available.
I have to lug my stuff from one room to my craft table, and really like the small size and portability of the Bug. I've been very happy with mine.

I didn't have the older version to compare to. But I can assure you , it is compact and easy to carry around. The space that I store it in is real narrow and like Bugga , I will haul it all over the house. So portable!! I love the little guy

Yes, there is a difference between the 2 versions. I have the original version and my neighbor has the V2. The drop down flaps on the V2 are shorter than the original. With the original I am able to load the sandwich while the plates are in place, balanced on the front flap. I tried doing this on the V2, and the sandwich of plates crashed to the floor - the drop down flap was not long enough to support them on its own. So you will have to train yourself to load the sandwich on your table and then transfer it to the Bug.
I think the new V2 is a tad wider, though I don't believe the actual throat (where the plates go though the bug) is any wider than the original.
My neighbor loves the V2 and I love the original, so I guess it's just a matter of what you become accustomed to.
I have the v2 bug and love it. I can make a stack on the side and it holds it. The plates are a little wider (6") but I use my old plates too. It seems to be made a little heavy duty. Get one you'll love it if you love your old bug.
I have both the Big Shot and the Bug. I love my Bug. I would replace her if she broke even though I own a Big Shot. I love how compact the Bug is. I carry it around everywhere. I have my plates memorized.
I do like the Big Shot. I find the plates to be a bit cumbersome at time. The Big Shot does cut at a heavier pressure than the Bug. The Big Shot runs around 7000 lbs per pressure and the Cuttlebug at 5000. I also like when I am working with the Cuttlebug I can just shut the "doors" . Big Shot we can't fold it up and move it out of the way when working on a project. I like to keep my die cutter out on the table but I don't want it in the way.
I had a gen 1 bug who I worked to death. I was gifted a gen 2 bug and it is every bit as good as the first one. There is very little difference. I love the bug. I also have a BigShot which I need to start using. Not using either much now that I have a Silhouette Cameo. It is getting most of my attention these days.
