The video is awesome. My DH was listening and he said he really liked the song. Your husband is really a good guitar player. Your song writing is really good too. Sorry I didn't hear you on the video so I will go back and listen 'till I hear you! Do you sell CD's?
LATTER RAIN is one of my favorites. I wrote a part of the lyrics to that one day while driving to the office, and then gave it to DH and he and Mike (the guy with the white hair singing in the video) finished it off and wrote the music. Guess I'm always one who likes lyrics with social statements too... I love the use of the telephonic effect on the vocals too.
RISE UP is probably my next favorite... its a more contemporary one. Starts off calm, but then rocks. Its the title cut of our latest CD... we were trying to inspire youth to stand for Christ and their Christian beliefs, morals, values...
You can hear me in the background of the chorus there too ("Rise Up", and also at the end singing that...).
And then there is a song called HE WILL MEET YOU WHERE YOU ARE that I helped to write and love because its about the fact that God will meet you wherever you are, you don't have to come to church or such. He is where you are always. Its not on video yet. There is also one with a clip of DH's father (a well known minister here for over 50 yrs who had tv and radio shows also) on it, but we haven't put that on video yet either.
Pretty much whenever you hear a female voice in the background on these, its me. There were a few songs on the older CDs that I did not do, but I don't think those are on YouTube. I prefer to hide in the background... Thank goodness for autotune, vocal effects, and all the other great ways to fix/correct, edit, etc. (For example, a lot on "You're Always There, Lord"...)
All the music, with the exception of two songs on the CDs that are compilations of favorite old hymns with a new twist, are all original lyrics and music, that Ash2Ash writes (through God's gifts, we give God the glory!).
What most people don't know is the 'story' behind the guys in Ash2Ash. You can read about it on the site, under "About Ash2Ash," but basically they were all part of River's Edge, which was a big country music band, opening for major bands and in big venues, touring on a bus, etc. and were about to sign a major recording contract when God changed their lives, their hearts, their priorities... and the result is that three of the five then went on to use their musical gifts from God to serve the Lord instead, a fourth also has helped with that. God works in mysterious ways. They chose Faith over Fame.
Ash2Ash has five CDs now I think. Our website needs to be updated, its at Ash2Ash Christian Music Ministry and there are links there to the CDs (use the About the Music link on the nav bar). My computer crashed in October and I haven't reloaded the software to update the site yet... slacking, I know.. :( But the links are all still working I believe. There are different styles on each CD... some more traditional, some more blues, some more country, some more contemporary.
Thanks so much for all the good information. I look forward to taking time to listen to each one. It is amazing what God can do in your life if you just listen.
Yes! Thanks Susan for the info! I've always felt the words are SOOOO IMPORTANT in music! I ALWAYS tell my kids, "listen to the words!" (not that they listen to awful music, but I want them to see the importance!)
I too will have FUN listening to your music too! Thanks!
Were you & your husband married when he made his big decision to serve Christ over fame?
Okay, I missed the tea party! :( When is the next one? Love this idea of a virtual teaparty! Thank you for all the ideas and info. Here is another Christian Music site. My DGS built this for someone in his church. He also maintains it and is constantly adding options to it. It is a free, no adds, radio station. It has kids music- like Patch the Pirate, and other "story" programs, kids Bible study sheets downloads, daily Bible readings, and lots more options. Check it out. I listen to it most days while cleaning or just while on the web. Here it is.
Thanks again for all the info. Am looking forward to really gettin in on a Virtual Tea Pary.
I collect teapots and have my mothers teacup collection. Also, love your paper tea cups!!!! I didn't find the template that you said you made yourself. Did I just miss it?
Thanks for letting me butt in here.
Hi Sharon!
So glady you liked my Paper Tea Cups! Here is my blog where you can find out more about my Paper Tea Cups! TLady Designs Hope to see you there!
Actually he and I met when he was just starting down that road really. He had lost his wife to cancer after a 7 yr battle (the mother of the twin girls we have now, going on 14 yrs old now). We met online and then God just took control and next thing I knew, a year later, I had a job offer out here and moved here and then we married 10 mths later.
The phrase I learned from a Focus on a Family series years ago when I was raising my older daughter and son... "Learn to Discern" and that is what we constantly tell our kids and grandkids.

Susan!
What a story you have!!!Maybe, you should write a book??? I believe your "Learn to Discern" is something that can be taught! It is something we try to teach our kids! Using Gods' Word is the PERFECT WAY! (Growing up, it's something that WASN'T taught to me, but my hubby is WAY AHEAD of me there & has even taught me!)
Is that the date of the next Virtual Tea Party????? I'll mark my calendar if it is!!!!!!
I got my little goodies today too. Thank you so much for everything. You are so generous. Wish I could be at the Virtual Tea party in the Fall, but I will be thinking of you.
Yay! I'm glad you got them and enjoy them. The large teacup is by Unity, I bought it a couple of years ago. Its so large, I have to really want to use it to do that one! haha
Its great embossed.
The smaller one I got as a gift, its a single stamp. I'd have to look at the label on it when I get home to let you know the maker.
