Default ATG VS Glue Glider Pro

Hi ladies!!

I have had my ATG for nearly 5 years now with no problems. BUT, I was looking at HL the other day and I saw the glue glider pro. I have seen it on the net and in videos, ect. but have never used one. After doing some math, the realization hit me that it is actually cheaper per foot/yard than my ATG refills. Am I correct, or did I actually fail math in college legitimately?

Any posts would be appreciated!!!

Happy Friday!

Jen

Jen, I looked at Amazon and found a refill for the glue glider pro for 40 ft. x 1/4" for $9.73.

Then I found Scotch brand refills for the ATG on ebay, 216 ft. x 1/4 for $7.69.

There are probably other places to check the prices, but it seems the ATG is still way cheaper, unless you've found a real good deal on the glue glider pro.

I checked that link on ebay which is for a 2 pack of tape totalling 72 yards. 2 rolls at 36 yards each for $7.69 + $1.99 shipping. Totals $9.68 for 72 yards. That makes it $.04 a foot. Right?

And the glue glider pro looks like $.11 a foot. Even using a 40% off coupon.

So, I guess my failing math grade was justified. LOL

Thank you so much for your reply!!

Jen, I just posted one of the first ebay links I found. If you look around, you can find the ATG tape even cheaper. Here is one that has free shipping for 3 rolls and comes out to $.03 per foot.

ATG CRAFT TAPE (3 ROLLS) 1/4" X 36 Yards | eBay

I have also ordered from Tape Depot from their ebay store in the past, and got 12 rolls at a time really cheap, but couldn't find a current listing today.

Not only is the ATG tape much cheaper than the GGP tape, but it is also a much better product, IMHO. I've had both, and I gave my GGP away after repeated problems with it. First the tape would be extremely hard to roll out when the roll was only half-way gone. Then things started falling off my projects. I had to completely re-glue a baby shower bag on the way to the shower. That's when I decided to go with the ATG, and I haven't regretted it for a second.

ATG ALL the way. GGP sucks!!!! It doesn't not hold and the tape itself will mess up...somehow the strip will get all weird and then I have a strand hanging out of the gun....NOT WORTH IT!!!!!

Another vote for the ATG -- I've had both the glue glider pro and the ATG. The GGP was absolutely terrible once half the roll was gone. The ATG works to the last bit of adhesive. And, for me, I've had great luck with the tape holding and holding..

There's a reason why ATG is used in professional custom framing shops. It holds on for a loooooong time. I've had my gun for over 10 years and have never had any issues with it or the tape.

I am in the minority I like my GGP better than the ATG. The ATG is way cheaper.

Actually the GGP is probably the most expensive of the glue runners. I know one of the girls over at 2Peas posted a cost comparison chart this Spring or Summer. I think she posted it over here too.

I like the GGP for the smaller size. Luckily, I haven't had any problems with it. Now, I probably jinxed myself. I also like the cartridge can can be turned around so the sticky side is facing inside. ATG the sticky side is always visible. It's hard to store and carry to any crops.

GGP also carries a tape that has a moveable wheel so you can run tape around those finicky corners.

GGP cons- You have to buy the whole cartridge refill. Huge Fail on their part. I think that is such a waste. I wish GGP just sold the tape refills and not the whole cartridge.

A couple of years ago one of the members over here posted that she uses the ATG tape in the GGP. Apparently she winds the tape on the gun manually. I tried this once and it was a huge mess. I think I had the wrong kind of tape.

I am finding that my GGP tape isn't sticking either. I have noticed things either shift, or fall off completely. And I still have several refills for it. I'm thinking I should sell mine too!!
