I have Today Show in the background - Heard them say Bo Ho (Bohemien) is out and Western is in. In Texas - Western was never out. :-)

I've noticed a lot of native American prints showing up on shirts, handbags, etc. Like a Navajo blanket sort of look.
Thanks to the Olympics, all things British are the rage, too.

I only just bought a chevron die, and I certainly intend to go on using it . Besides, one of my favourite summer tops is ecru cotton with blue chevrons, and I bought that about ten years ago. I think some things are timeless, it's just an overdose of them is too much of a good thing!!

I never did like the chevron. I think scallops were coming in behind it.

Me too! I like to watch the trends and maybe do a few from time to time. If I really like a style, I'll do it even if it' past the fashion of the time.

I never follow "in/out" trends. I was always taught to dress in the style I feel comfortable wearing and I follow those same rules artistically. Fashion colors are dictated two years in advance and trends are usually "thought of" by following around street kids who don't care what they look like.

Oh thank gosh Chevron is out. I can stop getting dizzy. Doesn't bother me too much in stamping. Fashion & Decor goodbye, good riddance, lol. Other crafting venues goobye, good riddance too. It's way over the top.
I hope Stella McCartney and Marchessa are out. If I see another celeb wearing one of Stella's fashions wrong again I will scream. I hope the three layers of Spanx are out too. When you can count the layers of Spanx on a Paparazzi pic your wearing way too much. Bright lace and loud floral I am glad that is gone too, especially on young girls. It just aged them.
Crafting what do I hope is out? Mustaches. I like the real ones but the fake ones freak me out. I do like Steampunk but I don't think the crafting industry quite understands it. Steampunk is way over the top or doesn't look like Steampunk at all in crafting. I have seen very few companies get it right.

Designers really need to retire their use of owls and other birds, in addition to everything listed in every post. Give us something new! (I just got on the chevron bandwagon, but it looks like I'm too late to the party!)

I agree. . . creatively, use what you like, trend or no trend! I was just thinking the other day that chevrons will probably stick around - it's not like they're a new "invention" ;) .
I'm enjoying stripes, myself - another classic.
With home, fashion and papercrafting trends, it's one thing to notice them, consider them, be inspired by them. . and another to be ruled by them. For instance, if Asian style stamps suddenly became popular, I could see implementing certain elements because I was inspired, but I'm not going out and purchasing stamps, paper, etc., just to keep up.

I believe the democratic candidate for governor in our state has yard signs with a big mustache on them. For that reason alone I will NOT be voting for him!!

Too funny, Gale! I'm ambivalent about the moustache issue but that was cute... I think these are all going to look like faces to me now!
Steampunk... I like it. I think it can only be considered a "trend" with respect to stamping/papercrafting. Otherwise it's solid & staying ;) .
Steampunk - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mary Rose, it occurred to me that I replied earlier not really answering your question. So, thinking about it... I realize I'm probably so far out of touch with trends that if I named anything you all would tell me it's already "out!" Like doilies - are they still in? Cupcakes?
Are things like using buttons or ribbon on cards considered trends? Or just sometimes more popular in general than other times?
I think I need a list of what the recent trends have been!

What the heck? Chevron is oh so over? I haven't had time to jump on the bandwagon yet. I have a chevron embossing folder on my wish list. I still love owls in kid's clothes, book bags, pajamas, etc. Too cute!
I'm tired the distressed look. Never felt the love for the mustaches showing up in stamp sets, etc. ICK!

I've never been a fan of chevrons, but I'm not a fan of ANYTHING that has really angular lines, it seems... I like curves much mo' bettah! Even so - I've seen them done really well and can't think that it matters much if they're "in" or "out", like others have said - if you love 'em, use 'em!
I don't know if things are trendy or not - I'm SO not in the loop! I do think that there's been overkill on several fronts (owls and cupcakes come to mind), but I'm as guilty as the next person of "collecting" every stamp set, die, or punch that has motifs I love (hearts, anyone?), so I get it if you fret when something you love is considered "over"...

Gale- Your mustaches are cute. I can see that. I can actually see my Mom doing that to her outlets, lol. I can handle that. The rest of the mustaches have to go.
Phanton- I love your Steampunk analogy. Yes, it must stay forever but not in crafting. Definitely a trend in crafting. Not many of the crafting companies get it right and mainly get it wrong. Maybe we should send the Wiki entry to them, ROFL! I just bought a steampunk video game this evening. That game did Steampunk right. I can't say the title it has a cuss word in it, lol.
StamperDea- You cracked me up.

I've seen things declared as "out" long before it really was. Examples: two years ago I read that platform shoes were out. This spring I read that metallic colored shoes were out. Both are still very popular.
What I know about chevron is that I'm still seeing it everywhere. I think it's still going strong.
It's more likely that the person who wrote that article just "wishes" it would go away.

I just cleaned up my craft room and way down in the bottom of my paper drawer I found corrugated card stocks and petal-inclusion and mulberry papers - wonder if they will make a comeback?

At first I had no idea what petal-inclusion was! Then it dawned on me and I Googled just to be sure ;) . I love that stuff - never really used it on cards but I would.
I actually used to have lampshades like that ~ very pretty yet still a little rustic looking.

I make a ton of Christmas cards and donate them to sell at a church charity thing. This year I'm using up a lot of mulberry for snow scenes. Don't tell anyone it's out of style!

What goes around usually comes back so ... I'm keeping my lone chevron stamp (that has seen ink only a few times) and my recently purchased chevron dies. I will use them whenever I want to. Even if they're "out", they'll be back.
Yah, I don't like moustache stamps/dies either. Live, in person, sometimes very attractive but fake ... hmmmm. Oh, and I have to say I got so sick of seeing cupcakes there for a while, I couldn't even eat the real thing! Hee!
