European/British paper for card base?

It seems to me that many of our European and/or British members have stunning paper bases that have a slight texture that is different than most of the U.S. papers (card weight). Can someone help direct me to find a similar kind of paper to use here in the States? Is it possibly some kind of watercolor paper and if so, what kind and weight? I just love the added texture especial when doing a CAS card where the card base is so prominent. Thanks for any suggestions.

I am from Ireland but now live in Canada, the weight and size of European cardstock is different, its' thicker and bigger.

I am not sure where you would be able to get it this side of the Atlantic

, I love the card that I can get here but I'd never thought that I don't see it used on too many other cards. The weight I use would equate to 140lb, and is described as Linen texture finish. I don't know if that's any help to you in looking for it. Plus I know there's a much finer linen-weave in paper weight.
A downside, though, is that it's hard to stamp well on!
A lot of people also use Bazzill for that texture - for example Biggan, if you're thinking of her cards. I like it for the texture but personally I find it a big lightweight for a card base unless it's a very simple card.

As Cook22 said, you can get card called 'Linen' finish, you can also get 'Hammered' or 'Basketweave'- all have a slightly different texture. I don't know what sort of thing is available over there, but have you considered texturing a piece of thin card with an embossing folder, then sticking that to your card base? It will give you texture, and add some weight to your card. I do it when I have to make an A4 sized card( I get asked for them at work for people leaving/having babies etc.) The only A3 card I can get is too thin on its own, so I add some weight this way.
