On another scrapbooking/stamping site, someone shared a photos of Darice Embossing Folders at their local craft store? Has anyone here seen these at your local craft store?

I will check out my Ben Franklin store. They carry other Darice products. I don't think they had any embossing folders at all before, so I don't know if they would carry them but it's worth a try to look.

I found this blog post with pics: Karen's Cricut Creations: Darice Embossing Folders at Pat Catan's
To me, a LOT of these look like many of the embossing folders made by Crafts Too - which I think is UK based. The only place I've ever ordered them from is crop stop. They used to have quite an extensive range of them, but now seem to have almost none.
Maybe Darice is the name/brand under which they are going to be marketed in US/Canada?

I saw these at Pat Catan's couple weeks ago. The also do wholesale business under the name of Darice, at least I think that's the way it goes. Anyway, I thought the same thing. Two of the EF that they had are exactly like two I had purchased from CropStop and they are Craft Too folders. Then this week I got an email from CropStop. They were selling off all Craft Too folders at $4.99 and said they would not be restocking them. They were $8.99 and the ones at Pat Catan's were $3.99. I didn't buy any at Catan's but from what I could tell through the package the plastic didn't seem to be as heavy as the ones I have but would assume that wouldn't effect the embossed image.

I still see it at Frantic Stamper:
Embossing Folders
Wow.
Not that I know you can do with embossing folders... I always say that's a cool technique but then when I'm in my creative space, I forget all the different possibilities lol

Our local AC Moore has quite a few of them, they are new! They seem to be getting more "Brands" in! Finally! It was always the same ole stuff every time I went there. Maybe more of their stores will be getting them as well!

Our AC Moore has them also. I haven't seen them at Joanns, Hobby Lobby, or Michaels yet.

I found them at AC Moore recently. Got them for $1.96 each! When I returned a couple of weeks later, there were none. Glad I stocked up!

My locals ACM had them a couple of weeks ago for $1.96. I bought three for myself and four or five for friends who couldn't find them. They are back up to their regular price of $3.99 and they didn't have a big selection when I went up last time, probably picked over from the sale. I am hoping they will bring in more.

I bought a bunch of them at Consumer Crafts, most of them are priced at $2.97. Delivery and quality were excellent. Several of my stamping buddies also went there. Good site.

too thick for my bug! :(
I bought a Darice embossing folder yesterday (says Happy Birthday with lines above and below and dots above and below the lines). Using it with a cuttlebug.
I've tried it on printer paper and cardstock and found that it's a bit thicker than other EF's and it's splitting the paper/card along the lines.
If anyone else has had this problem, have you found a solution? I'm trying to think of something thinner to use for a plate in the sandwich, but unsuccessful so far.
(Glad I only bought the one, coz I haven't seen them in Australia before, and I was super-excited. Boo Hoo...)

I find they are thinner than other EF I own. I've had splitting problems with EFs. Brand doesn't matter. I found it happens if the cardstock is too thin. Also have read on SCS that if you lightly spritz the card stock with water it prevents splitting. Haven't ever done that has have only had the problem with SU Whisper White card stock. I just switch to Gina K's white layering weight and the problem is solved. If you don't have heavier cardstock maybe using two pieces of cardstock would help. Just a thought. HTH

Okay, thanks, I'll try thicker card and/or spritzing tomorrow. I assumed that if I used thicker card, it would just make a tighter (harder) sandwich to go through. I checked the Darice folder against another EF and it does seem the same thickness, even though it feels different when cranking thru.
I guess it's the lines on this EF that are the problem, causing it to split into 3 parts. I do have other folders which split through in places, but the lines are a real 'division' point on this one. Shame, because the rest of it embosses beautifully.
