I'd like to send a pack of (blank) thank you notes to each of my grandchildren (so they can stop using the lined memo pads their mother supplies to them).
I have no problem with designs for the girls, but am at a loss for designs/stamp sets, etc., for a 9-year old boy. Flowers won't do, and adult masculine themes (tools, cars, etc.) don't seem right, either.
Any ideas? What do you have in your gallery that might inspire me? Links, please!

I use my Snoopy stamps a lot for cards for my nephews, and would think something like that could also be quite appropriate for them to use. I'm thinking scenery stamps might be good too.
I'd also think that some of the Starving Artiststamps range, especially the Doodle Factory, would be good, also MFT's Fred Bear, and other similar bears.
Sorry I can't link to any examples in my gallery - it's not a type of card I've ever had to make!!
What does he like - sports, Harry Potter/magic, space, robots, steam punk, stars, superheros, race cars? Basic shapes in his school colors. His monogram or his name.
What about the retired SU extreme skater or snowboarder and there is two others that I can't think of but I got a couple from ebay for $3 each. Also there is one called Extreme elements, I think thats what its called and that set makes so really fun boy cards.

Seriously??? You have grand kids who actually write thank you notes and you are worried about WHAT they write on? LOL I think your DD is wonderful just to give them something (anything at all) to write on. Also... keep in mind that a 9 yr old may still need "lines" in order to write at all. You might consider putting lines inside the note cards.
That said... I have some wonderful Stampin' Up images (retired) that have a row of sports equipment (about 1" tall & 4" wide) that makes a great boys border. I also have one in the same set that has air planes, boats, cars etc. If you would like me to stamp a few and mail them to you I'd be happy to do that - just PM me your addy. You might also consider just using bold graphic papers, or shades of brown & tan popped with red to make a nice card front.

How about some simple monogram cards? You could use solid colors or patterned papers that have a masculine feel to them. Some of the "grungy" Tim Holtz papers would work nicely on cards for a young boy.
My son is 11 and I'm always asking him what he likes, LOL! For him, he loves the textures and he's not so much into stamped images. I've done a lot of masculine cards with the woodgrain embossing folders and the diamond plate folder (looks like metal). The Tim Holtz folders are good too, there's one that looks like shattered glass, one that looks like a brick wall, etc. My son really thinks those are awesome.

Yes those are so great. Only thing I'll do is have my son pick two colors and I'll play with the design and before I tape down I'll ask him if he'd give this card to one of his friends. So times its a yes and sometimes its a no and I try again until I get a yes.
When in doubt...punch art or Circle Circus! =) I agree with the textures...doesn't have to be stamped but the texture keeps it interesting. Airplanes, bicyles, nature, sports, dinosaurs, bugs....
I agree with the lines....my 6 y.o. has a tough time keeping things straight if he doesn't have lines to guide him!
