I have my paper sorted by color or occasion with 12x12 and 8.5 x 11 mixed. All the paper is stored standing in "milk" crates and I have separators with labels for the divisions. What is the advantage to separating 12 x 12 and 8.5 x 11 sizes??? Thanks.

I am the biggest flibbertigibbit for reorganizing my stamp room...but I've FINALLY found the paper storage that works for me:
For my 8.5x11 cs I have a 4 drawer tall filing cabinet. Top drawer is organized by rainbow- current SU colors (IN Color included); 2nd drawer is all neutral cardstock; 3rd drawer is all other 8.5x11 colored cardstock. (4th drawer is SU paperwork)

All my 12x12 cardstock & DSP is stored stacked upright in my IKEA Expedit bookcases...they are 12.5x12.5 cubes, so the paper fits perfectly.

Only one of my FAVORITE words EVAH!! Used by Shakespeare, and is in the movies Sound of Music (nuns singing about Maria) and Joe vs. The Volcano...Meg Ryan's character uses the word.

I store my paper in 2 ways.

1) My desk drawers (I have 6 deep drawers) with hanging files by color family and alphabetical color name (I think I may change this so that all colors are alphabetical vs. color family - so I don't have to remember which family!!!)
2) I was fortunate to have found a wire paper rack at a craft sale for $10 (I think it's worth about $200 new).

I keep all mine in rainbow order with each color in a large capacity page protector, then store them in several clear paper holders on a shelf. The protectors allow me to keep scraps with full sheets and saves the edges from getting bent. I don't want the dust or have the space for them to be out in the kind of display that you see in stores. This way I can see the colors all lined up and it's helped a lot with mixing brands of cs and patterned paper.

Personally I use portable file boxes I have 2 of them for all my 8.5 x 11 paper. each color has their own file folder labeled. This way they stay clean, straight and are portable when I got to retreats and to other peoples houses to play

Since I have to move my paper (or at least most of it), from FL to NC and back, every 6 months, I have just been keeping it by colors (all mixed together, unlabeled) but it's almost unmanageable any more because SU keeps coming out with new colors and I HAVE to have them all :>

I just had to redo my paper storage as my old paper rack fell and broke. This is my new rack to store my 12x12 paper but they also make an 8 1/2 x 11 paper rack. I keep cardstock in rainbow order and patterned paper in order by manufacturer.

I use those 8.5x11 paper holders ("magazine holder" style) but I lay them on their back with the "top" facing out so it is easy to see what I have. And I organize my cardstock by color (mostly SU color families since that is what I have a lot of and it is easy for me to find colors that way) but in rainbow order for my non-su paper.

I just posted some pictures of my craft room on my blog and you can see what I'm talking about on the top shelf of my bookcase in the second picture here:

Ooops, I just started a new thread on paper storage - not sure how I missed this one! It's taken me awhile to find a way that works good for me and I finally have it! I store my paper in file folders inside sterlite containers. It's easy to grab what I want, or take the whole file out. (I store whole sheets in the back and scraps in the front - so it makes it easy when I'm cleaning up as well.) It's hard to visualize but there are pictures on my blog and a link for a free file tab printable I created of all the SU colors.
Here's the link: http://creativechat.blogspot.com/201...printable
