Default Sizzix big shot,Quickutz Revolution, Cuttlebug...I'm confused, can you help?

Ok, I am trying to decide which of these products I want to purchase. I want something that I can use all the dies in and no one seems to know if that is possible. I like some of the cuttlebug backgrounds, but can I use that in the revolution? What about the new stampin up sizzix, can they be used in the revolution also, or can they all be used with the sizzix big shot? Can someone please help me figure this out. I have some of the sizzilets alphabets with old sizzix cutter that I really don't like and really don't want to spend the money again to get something that I really don't use as much as I would like. I would, however, still like to use the sizzilet alphas that I already own. I really like the alphabets that go with the revolution too!!! Ok, Now are you as confused as me, can someone help me out!!

Hi ! Answer to your question. The Sizzix dies, Sizzlets, Quickutz dies, and all the cuttlebug backgrounds and dies can be used in the Big Shot. I have a big shot and use them all in mine. I have not had any trouble with it. Some of the Sizzix dies are thick and I don't think they will go through the Revolution by Quickutz. I do know that the thin Quickutz dies can be used in the big shot but I think you need to use a little thicker shim or a piece of cardboard, to increase the thickness of the Quickutz. Hope this helps you out.

I would say yes. A year ago I bought the Cuttlebug because it could be used with "anything" but now I have the BigShot...LOVE IT! I think I might have gotten by with the Cuttlebug, but have not tested all the same dies. The BigShot is a better quality machine though.

I have a Cuttlebug and I'm quite happy with it. I know the Big Shot is a bigger, better quality machine, but budget was a big issue for me. For the amount that I use it, the Cuttlebug is perfect for me.

I have a cuttlebug and am very happy with it. I use all these products in it just by adjusting the plates-Quickutz dies, Sizzix Sizzlets, Sizzix Bigs, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Bosskut alphabets.

I don't feel I need or want another machine.

Wow!! Thank you all for answering!! I should asked this question about 3 months ago instead of asking all the sales associates these questions, of which, NO ONE could tell me anything for sure!!

Just one lingering concern, has anyone actually used the quickutz alphas for the Revolution in the sizzix big shot?

I have the BossKut machine. It cuts all the sizzlets, cuttlebug & quickutz dies - in fact I think it cuts the sizzlets better than my sizzix machine. I have an online website (see my signature below) where you can check it out and several of the bosskut dies. You can also visit the bosskut website. Good luck and happy shopping.

Default Hope it helps -

You can also use the Spellbinders - "Nestabilities" dies in the Big Shot!...

So far I have not come across anything that you cannot use - using them with the crease pad allows the cutting and the emboss feature on these!!! And for the quantity you get - there is good value there. Check out Target.com - some 5 pc. sets for $25 on the Nestabilities...

Anyway - hoipe that helps a little

I have a Wizard from Spellbinders. I have used Spellbinders dies, Bosskuts, Quickutz 2 x 2 and Revolution dies, full size Sizzex and sizzlets dies, Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders. I have also used it to emboss with regular brass templates. I am not sure how it compairs in price to the other machines. Paper dreams has a spread sheet on their website that will tell you which dies can be used with which machines. http://www.paperdreamsstore.com/Inde...on=Custom&ID=1

Default I am glad found this thread.

I was wondering if the big shot dies work with the Cuttlebug. I see a few of the BS dies that I want to purchase from SU.

Default Big Shot

I have the Big Shot from SU and LOVE it. It will take all the dies I can think of and the embossing folders from wherever they come.

As it is manual, no outlet nearby required and as you crank it through yourself, you will know when it is too thick. It seems like a very sturdy machine and will put up with a lot of abuse.

It does remind me of my late old grandmother's manual sewing machine with the crank.

Big Shot dies are too wide to use with cuttlebug or with an old sizzix machine. I do think it works with spellbinders though, but I am not 100% sure.

So you can use all of these brands with a cuttlebug machine?

I use the Sizzix Red Dies, and the SU dies in my Cuttlebug which I've had for over six years.Use only the "C" plate (not the thick white "A" plate) with the die on top, and your paper. It will go through!

The Extra Bigz XL dies by Sizzix won't fit through as they are 6" wide. They are exclusively designed for use only with the BIGkick, Big Shot and Vagabond machines and require the use of Extended Cutting Pads

Yes, you can use Spellbinders too in the regular Cuttlebug. (A, B, and C plates)

Hope this helps.

I know by experience that you can use ....all the Sizzix, spellbinders nestabilites and the quickkutz dies, Provocraft sells extended A,B, and C plates so you can use the long dies as well. Maybe not the big big Sizzix. But I use it for the SU matchbox die. Love my Cuttlebug. No need to buy any other machine at least for me.

I have a cuttlebug and the big shot....love them both, but tend to use my big shot more...it's easier to use and I know 100% that any die or embosser on the market will work in it.

I love my Big Shot but sometimes I dread dragging it to crops and such. It's sturdy but heavy. If you just craft at home, the Big Shot is awesome. But then I have friends who easily tote their Cuttlebugs to crops all the time. So another thought is how portable do you want it.

Does anyone know if you can use the Big Shot embossing folders in a QK Revolution?

Pretty sure you can't since the Revolution's platform is only 4" wide and most of the embossing folders are wider than that. I'm betting you could get away with some of the embossing folders that match the edgelits since they are really narrow, but most of your standard folders are going to be too big.

I have the Cuttlebug. However, my Silhouette Cameo has replaced some of my Cuttlebug time. I still use it, just lately not so much. I do enjoy the fact that it can be used with any die. Most importantly, it compliments my other cutting machines such as my Cricut and Cameo.

I have both the Big Shot and the Cuttlebug. I use the bug more often, just because it's easy to grab it and lift it to my desk, since I don't have space to keep either one on desk. I love the Big Shot, though, and agree that it's tougher, more versatile, and if purchased with a deal or coupon (or both) probably the bigger bang for your buck. I already had the bug when I bought the Big Shot, but since I got my Big Shot for $30, I couldn't turn it down. (Yes, brand new- it was a deal on Sizzix.com that someone posted here on SCS, and someone else posted a code, so it worked out to thirty bucks. OK, it's the sissy pink Hello Kitty model, but for that price who cares???)
