Art Bin Magnetic Die Storage Case

Has anyone purchased the Art Bin Magnetic Die Storage Case? If so, is there any certain way that you organize your dies in it? Label, etc.?

I just bought it today at AC Moore. I need more of those magnetic sheets. I can't fit half my die collection on the 3 sheets that come with it. I try to put like shapes on each page. Circles, Ovals, Rectangles, shapes etc...

I bought this a couple of months ago and I love it for my Quickutz cookie cutter dies and my Spellbinders. One set will fit on each magnetic sheets. I found the additional sheets at Hobby Lobby for the first time this week, so I used my 40% off coupon on that.

I just recently purchased this and to be honest, am not terribly impressed. I think the size is just not fitting. The strange dimensions of the magnetic sheets should either be smaller or bigger. I should have researched it a bit better, so far I only have the 3 sheets that came with the case and additional sheets aren't cheap. It would be different had they made the sheets magnetic on both sides.

I sort of agree with Dakota however since I have it I am going to try to make the most of it. I think what disappoints me most is how many magnetic sheets I will need - and I don't have a huge collection of dies, by any means.

I plan on using mine to transport dies when I travel or take them to stamp club. I have too many dies to try to use them for regular storage.

I haven't researched this yet, but I have an idea I might try. I agree that the case looks a little small, and even though I know this is stupid, I just don't like those copper colored things on the case. I see that Art Bin sells a larger case that is basically the same as the storage case you are all talking about. The two differences I see is the size, and no ugly copper. I was planning on purchasing vent covers and cutting my own sheets to fit in the larger case. Do you think my idea will work?

I have this case and enough sheets to fill it. So far I like it, but I did not have a good storage system before. The sheets hold more then I thought they would.
I have filled about 2/3 of the sheets in my case. I find it to be a little bit heavy. You may want to keep that in mind if you are thinking about a larger case.

I had those originally for my spellbinders. I was up to about 10 of them when I decided to switch to filing my thin dies on in folders in baskets. It never seemed easy to find the dies I was looking for using the Lifestyles Book.

They do hold well though and are durable.

I just purchased the case and two extra pkgs of the magnetic sheets from Archivers. I am a bit disappointed in the small size of the case but my disappointment is overrided(sp?) by the convenience of the sturdiness of the case AND having a handle. I put all my current Memory Box, Cheery Lynn and Dutch dies in it and still have my Spellbinders in a large CD padded/zippered case. I did make myself a couple extra magnetic sheets using one of the sheets from the storage case as a template and cut chipboard the same size. I had a partial adhesive-backed magnetic roll and adhered it to the chipboard and trimmed to size. Worked perfectly. However, I don't recall what the cost of the magnetic roll was so don't know if I really saved any $. To comment on having the dies on both sides: I would think the dies rubbing together might damage them. I suppose one could put a buffer sheet between them though. Just my thoughts to share.

I use Scrapbooking Binders from StampingScrapping.com. I cut down magnetic sheets that I purchased from Home Depot (magnetic air vent covers) and can quite a few dies on the sheets. I get 2.5 sheets cut from each of the 3 covers.

I have the ArtBin storage case and like it. I had a huge overflow of dies that didn't fit in my CD tower where I have the others. I got it at Hobby Lobby with a 40% coupon. However I made a discovery at Mike's tonight. They have the same box made by Recollections for half the price and if you have a 40% coupon it comes to $5.39. They don't carry the inserts but the Artbin ones fit. Now I just have to use my coupons for the inserts until I get all I need.

The Art Bin magnetic sheets are only magnetic on one side because if they were magnetic on BOTH sides, they would stick together! Just a thought.

Magnets, in general, only have one magnetic side that can adhere metal - the other side of a magnet repells metal. Put two magnets to gether with the "repel" side and they flip apart!

I like the idea of a storage bin for my dies, but I'm not sure I like the size or shape of this one!

I bought the Artbin magnetic sheets for my smaller dies as my previous system of baseball card sleeves wasn't working. Now I have all my swirls on one
magnetic page, my flowers on another, my borders on another, domestic
type stuff(cooking, sewing) and labels, tags on another. I filled 6 sheets but
I live near a Hobby Lobby so got to use coupons. I do appreciate the girl who
mentioned Michaels having a case exactly like Artbin's as that is what I bought
to hold them. I keep all my nestabilities that I frame images with (I have 19
sets) in a dayrunner binder that I picked up at the Goodwill for $1.00. The
nesties are in zipper plastic cases that you can buy at office supply stores
for $3.50 each. That is expensive but since my binder was almost free I
justified it. I love this system. The cases are thick and strong and hold at
least 2 sets. I had cut magnetic sheets to keep them on too but that got
too heavy so now I just have cardstock between the sets. I have been doing this for over 2 years. My doily dies I keep in a cheapo cd binder. This way
I have all my dies sorted by how I use them. So far I am loving having all
my small dies in the case with the artbin magnet sheets and I love that they
are WHITE!!

I have this ArtBin case for my dies and I like it. Although, I do not have a very large collection of dies. On the backside of each sheet (the non-magnetic side) I have a label that states which dies are on it. It works for me.

What a great idea! My Xryon would be too small but my source of cheap magnet from dry erase magnet boards would work well with something like this. I might have to ponder this some more.

A friend has the ArtBin and I found it wasn't easy to flip through the sheets to find the page you wanted. They weren't stiff enough to not bend as you were looking so some of the dies moved/came off while searching. It looks like a useful tool for taking to crops since it closes securely. I don't transport my supplies so this one wouldn't work for me as a regular storage item in my craft room.

I am realising from reading all these posts that my tiny collection of Spellbinders is likely to GROW alarmingly! I thought having 14 was quite a good range! Hah!! Mind you, I resisted Nestabilities for a long time as I could see it becoming addictive so guess I'm finally there! Now just have to research the best/easiest storage system in Australia. Have read various suggestions so here we go.......

I use a very nice file box that has 6x6 hanging files i have put magnetic sheets in. Presently I have over 40 Spellbinder and Memory Box dies in one - I purchased a second to put specific holiday dies in. They are $16.99 at the office store. I bought it recently. While I think its a great idea, I have a few issues with it. When I opened it the magnetic sheets were curved, the dies wouldn't stay on so I put them under some books and flattened them. I'm nervous to store the case standing up. It would save space but the sheets would curl again.
I think it would be cheaper and easier to buy magnetic strips or sheets and come up with your own storage system.

Wish I'd read all these posts before I bought my ArtBin...my magnetic sheets were rolled too; I reverse rolled them and it seemed to help. I also bought some vent covers which cut nicely and were very inexpensive but they are thin and the magnets don't seem nearly as strong - things dislodge easily. I guess I will continue using the All-in-One 3 ring storage binder i bought years ago from archivers for the cookie cutters and put the spellbinders/nestabilities in the ArtBin case...hopefully I'm not growing too much more in the die category...

I organize both my die cuts--spellbinders, memory box, poppy--etc and embossing folders much like stamping cowgirl, but using a "Close to my Heart" see thru plastic storage box with a handle. It is perfect for 6 X 6 chip board & magnet strips for the die cuts. I think the storage boxes are $12.95...I found my first ones at a Scrapbooking garage sale.

I love your idea but I was wondering if the magnetic sheet from Xyron peeled off. I don't have a Jo-anns near but the storage system is on a veterans day sale and would buy it. Also, you don't put the chipboard thru the Xyron do you???

There is a new option for stamp/die storage from Crafters Companion called EZ Magnetic 2-in-1 storage system. These sturdy sheets can hold stamps on one side and magnetic dies on the other - cases are easily labeled and shelved. Much better magnetic sheets than the ones with the Art Bin case or the magnetic vent covers.

Hi Linda, with the new cartridge I bought I didn't have any trouble (although I guess it would depend on how long it was on the shelf) but with my older cartridge I did reinforce the sides with double sided tape. I didn't put the chipboard through the Xyron.

I have since moved my sheets to a basket since I use them every day (and have added more sheets than I care to admit, lol) and it's easier to flip through them that way. I've attached a picture below.

Thank you for your answer. I guess I'll have to ask my friend who works at Hobby Lobby how long the Xyron magnet cartridges have been on the shelf. I really like the idea of putting them on the 12x12 sheets.

I have been looking at magnetic storage for my growing collection of dies, and I just lucked into something cheap that's going to work just fine. I found a dozen Olympic magnets sheets (6 inches by 9 inches) on clearance at a local store. 50 cents each. I bought them all, and now I'm figuring out which photo album I'm going to stick them in for storage.

I just got my bin and 2 extra packs of magnetic sheets and already used them all up. I have been using the magnetic folders from Ecstasy and Lifestyle, but I have so many of them that it is hard to keep track of what is where - even though they are labeled.

I'm hoping this will work for me, but I am worried about the weight already! It will sit on my craft table next to my new Ebosser (love it!!!!). This is my fourth storage foray for my dies. I hate to think that I may have too many dies? Nah - couldn't happen.

I think I will keep my spellbinder squares/rectangles and circles/ovals in their binders - they are what I use most frequently and 2 binders don't take up much space.
