I'm looking for a way to store my SU ink pads (in particular) so I can see the colors printed on the ends... I'm not interested in the SU caddy that stacks them vertically, because I don't have desk surface to give up to that.
Any other ideas or sources? Do you think that a cassette tape holder would work/fit the pads? It would be ideal if the pads could be stacked along the back of my table in something that would prevent them from sliding all over the place and getting jumbled. Something wall-mountable would also be great. As a final sticking point, I'd like it to not be too expensive, because I need to save my funds for stamping supplies, not storage solutions!
I do have other ink pads (that don't get used as often as the SU ones, now that I have a few), and if you have ideas for those, I'd love to hear those as well!

wow... Debbie.... that's the most convenient and inexpensive ways to store ink pads that I've seen yet!! THANKS for sharing this one! I am thinking of getting a collection of S/U ink pads started, and this idea is VERY good (and for you Demos, it's VERY portable!!). (Getting new ink pads is very hard to actually DO, because I STILL have some OLD CTMH ink pads that work well with all the Bold Bright S/U colors and I have two sets of the S/U Ink spots..... it's hard to justify buying more!)

I bought a wall-mounted wood rack on eBay. It was meant for cassette tapes, but it fits the SU pads nice. You have to store them the LONG way, but you can still see the colors on the end. It even fits my tall Stazon pad, but its a tight fit. My husband drilled mine right into the wall.
I just got this for Christmas and I love it! It sits lined up at the back of my desk and makes it so easy to see everything. I would definitely consider this as an option if I were you!
I found a rack on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/50-Stampin-Pad-I...QQcmdZViewItem ) where they're all lined up flat, rather than a rotating stand, so I can either stand it at the back of my desk area, or mount it on the wall. It will hold 50 ink pads, and has a rod at the bottom for ribbon. Since I love ribbon, and can't resist it, I can always use more storage space for it.

I bought one of these wooden racks on Ebay and really like it. It holds more than ink....it holds reinkers, scissors, wheels, markers, EP, the cleaning pad, etc.
I just bought my ink pad stand from ebay - came in last week. I opted for the 70 pad one - so I have lots of room for my growing collection of craft pads(so far 1 - 47 to go). It fits everything in it. It also has wall mounts. It looks a little bigger in the picture but it is awesome! From Canada eh!!
I purchased a 48-slot ink pad organizer from www.wadsworthwoodcreations.com. But then SU! came out with new colors plus I had other ink pads that I didn't know how to store. Last fall I bought a Napa Valley cassette tape holder to store them all. But I have discovered that it was filled up pretty quickly and was actually too heavy to move closer to where I was working. So I ended up using the Wadsworth organizer for all the current SU! ink pads and the Napa Valley holder for the retired SU! ink pads and and all the others. The Wadsworth organizer has a handle on the top that makes it more portable and because it is especially made for SU!, the ink pads snap in place so they don't fall out if it's carried. I love my solution!
I just cleaned out my CD's and put them all in one of those album holders. So I had the wooden boxes designed to hold cd's sitting in my living room. Then I got the cleaning bug and organized my stamping space. The ink pads would not sit still. I tried to stack them on top of each other, they kept falling over. I looked at the CD rack and ..... check it out. It works great and it was recycled. I love when I save $$$. Hope is helps inspire some other clever ideas.

NEVER too busy for fun
I have a paper storage unit that is one piece that holds all my 8 1/2 x 11 paper...I place the color coordinated ink pads in each slot with the paper. That way I have paper and ink in one place...grab and go
I use a clear plastic bin, it holds them nicely and you can see thru it. Walmart $2-3. each bin holds 16 su pads & 8 spectrum pads. I like all the other ideas too.
I took the boxes that the ink pads came in. Cut off the flap part, taped the four boxes together and store them in there. it stands up right, perfect size for the ink pads, and costed me nothing.
And here is a picture of one with ink pads. It will hold 48 SU pads. I put 5" cardboard squares in the centers of each plastic insert to divide the stacks of pads.

I am thinking of purchasing the plastic cases from www.craftlocker.com. Anyone used their products and know if they are worth the money?
I can't help you, but I am sure I have seen people comment about these on SCS before. I think you could probably do a search, and get lots of opinions.
I have the Ultimate Plus and Ultimate Topper from SUInk and love it! It holds ink pads, reinkers, markers, wheels and has room for additional supplies on top!
Mine is also a cassette holder and it was very inexpensive. I love it. Even though I like and still use the SU holder...I just have too many ink pads...er, I mean just enough. Mine came from a website with the word King in it, but can't remember the rest. I found it from the forums on SCS.
I use an old cassette holder for my older size SU pads and a Garage sale special for the new ones. Those CD storage wall mounts are great,check your local thrift store,Target or Ikea are also great places to get storage items. I'm all over the garage sale stuff.
I got 2 cd case holder towers from Goodwill, and broke off every other insert to fit the ink pads. Not the best, and doesn't hold many, but for $3 can't be beat! Here is one of my stamp room pics in my gallery.
I got one of those photo boxes that is shown at the top of this thread. It was 3.99 at J's. Since I know the ink pads are meant to be stored right side up (which means the pad is face down), I put the box on it's side on the shelf. Works great. As a matter of fact, I have room for 4 more SU ink pads.
I use a photo storage box. It fits two stamp pads side by side and sits at the back of my table. I propped up the back side so they are at an angle.

Mine is similar to this, but with patter boxes...they don't fit as snug as Debbies...but what I did do is write a number on the end...for the Soft Subtles I wrote S1, S2...etc...that way if I took one out and they slipped out of place I could just tuck it back in numerically and still have them in the colour order.
I might try the photo boxes. I like this storage idea because I can keep them out of the sun.
Thank you for this wonderful idea! I've been carrying my pads to the store to see what I can use. The containers were always too big or 1/16 inch too small. I going to get my photo boxes. Thanks
