So I was surfing Ebay and saw a listing for the Keep Calm hostess set (the current bid is over $50 at the moment). The listing said the set is now unavailable due to legal reasons. Is this true or just a bait to get more bids? Cuz that set is #1 on my list and I was going to have my own party just to get it!
I would like that one. Hobby Lobby has a "Stamp On" stamp in that style, which I returned to the store when I saw the SU set. I had soooooo many ideas for that set! I know it's becoming a bit overused, but I love the saying... the history behind the original... and I was thinking of making more suffixes to go with it. Still so sad.....

I don't know any more than you can tell by it being a 6 x 8 set with the Just Rite one. I don't have it - I just like all of the choices. These samples would give you an idea:
Love this cube; eventhough I'm over the Keep Calm and Carry On - the other phases are catchy. I like: Keep Calm and Trust God and Keep Calm and Buy Shoes.
Just picked up this stamp set at my LSS today (scroll down to see stamps). It's part of the new Love 2 Craft line from We R Memory Keepers. And it was only 99 cents!

I loved the historical background given in this story from the Rubber Soul site:
Keep Calm and Carry On Rubber Stamp:
"People everywhere are finding reassurance in this distinctive design originating from a propaganda poster printed by the British Government’s Ministry of Information in the Spring of 1939. Thanks to UK book shop owners Stuart and Mary Manley, who discovered the poster at the bottom of a dusty old box of books and redefined the art, Rubber Soul is honored to be a part of conveying this historic attitude of mind."

Yeah we aren't exactly sure...they haven't told us more than "legal issues" which is normal since they probably can't talk about it. I'm assuming it has to do with the link Joan posted about the dumb guy trying to trademark something he didn't come up with. The story behind the whole keep calm thing is really cool and I have some choice words for the guy screwing things up. I signed the petition a week or so ago! I'm hoping it gets worked out soon and the set is back on the table! If nothing else, maybe they could take the carry on out and sell the rest?????
Is A Muse Studio also being sued for its "Carry On" set?
I've had no communication from A Muse HQ regarding the set. I just test-added it to a cart at my online webstore -- it's available.
Does anyone actually know that SU is being "sued" over this set? I wouldn't assume that legal action is actually being taken just because they've pulled it. If questions are being raised, their legal team could have just recommended it as a precaution.
I think it's absurd for someone to attempt to claim the right to this phrase, unless, if the Rubber Soul story is accurate, it's someone who was in the British government "Ministry of Information" from 1939. . . . ;) . Let's see, 73 years ago, and they would have to had been at least 20 years old, but likely older. I have my doubts, LOL!
I signed the petition too. I'm likely not going to get the stamp set, but the idea of trying to trademark an old and common popular saying is ridiculous! Hope he loses big time.

I really doubt SU is being sued or anything...knowing them they are just being prudent while this mess is worked out....that guy is a real d-bag for lack of a better word!
Interesting thread...I'm glad I got my order in the day after the catalog release...I received my Keep Calm hostess set on Thursday. I'll make the d.bag a card and tell him to "keep calm and cry a little"!!!

This really bites the big one! I was just getting my SU order ready and this is the only hostess set I like! Now what do I do?

Hostess dollars can be used for anything in the catalog now. I usually get the one or two sets I like and by the end of the catalog cycle I am buying staples with the hostess cash. This year I may spend more in the hostess options just because I want the MDS options.
Hahahaha... now if we only had his address! FYI... my demo is at convention right now and she posted this on her FB page earlier today....
"Big News! The Keep Calm hostess stamp set is coming back! It likely will be available to hostesses next week! Shelli couldn't promise it wouldn't get pulled again though, so grab it when you can. "
