I am in the process of cleaning out some things and I wanted to ask you all for some advice on shipping 12x12 papers. For instance, 2 packages of DSP from SU cost $11 to ship priority and approx $9 to ship just wrapped in heavy paper- that is crazy?
Short of doing any cutting of the paper= any suggestions on cheaper ways to ship?
I'd like to suggest sending your paper out under "Media Mail" or "Book Rate" as it's called in some states. It's for sending Books, CD's or Movies, but since it's just paper, I'd classify that under "books" as it's all paper products. It will generally take longer to get to it's destination, but it's generally Much cheaper then the usual rates; about half or so. Depending on how heavy it is/weighs.

They used to always ask me if it was "bound books" The USPS sites rules don't mention that, but state that it is meant for shipping used books and educational media "The material sent must be educational media. It can�t contain advertising, video games, computer drives, or digital drives of any kind." The site also states that they can open your package to determine if it fits the criteria.
12x12 paper is just plain difficult to mail!
I cut two large envelopes, one at the top and one at the bottom, then tape them together. Clear as mud? It's a lot cheaper than boxes, and I put in some thin chipboard to reinforce it.
I did take the 2 packs of DSP and put between 4 piece of chipboard, then wrapped in paper bag material but they still wanted over $8 to ship it! That is crazy, it weighed over 1 lb wrapped.
I was wondering about shipping them too! I used to be a CTMH consultant and have so much of there 12x12 paper left and just want to sell it all on Ebay but I couldn't figure out how to ship it..now I know there really isn't a good way. So maybe I will just sell it at a garage sale instead bummer
Well, for FUTURE reference: around the holidays, when the calendar store clearances out, buy the calendar "wraps." They are usually big enough for 12x12 paper and are not super heavy. I just smack a big ol' 8.5x11 piece of paper on as a mailing label. Won't help you if you're shipping a lot but you ought to be able to mail a single pack of PP.

I have seen people cut them into 6x6 squares and sell them bundled. It would work for card-makers, but not so much for scrapbookers.
I too have quit selling 12 x 12 paper pads and individual sheets. I have two huge boxes of the pizza boxes I used to ship, however, the cheapest shipping I could find was still around $9.00. I have so much 12 x 12 you would not believe it...my first order was $4400.00 wholesale..yikes...

about 5 years ago I was at a ckc event in Valley Forge, there was a woman with flat usps cardboard envelopes big enough for 12x12 paper. She was giving it away trying to get enough interest for the usps to start carrying this size. I guess she didn't get enough signatures on her petition :(

I just received an order from a popular online vendor and was very shocked to see she had mailed it media rate mail. She wrote on the box "books" & had Media Mail stickers all over it. I had no books or magazines in my order. I had ordered Spellbinders dies, sponge daubers, rhinestones, embellishments and 4 sheets of 12 x 12 paper. I didn't realize how expensive & difficult it is to ship 12 x 12 paper. But still, it really ticks me off since her shipping rates are, I think pretty high and she was ripping off the Post Office. Something I doubt her competitors do.
