Questions about SU! new ink pads
Will the old reinkers work on the new ink pads?
Does anyone know if the red ink pad problems (becoming gloppy after several months) will be alleviated with the new pads?

There are 5 colors that the new ink should not be put on old pads and the old ink should not be put on the new pads. They had to be reformulated to work on the new pads, and so should not be mixed.
I don't remember all the colors, but Tempting Turquoise and Basic Black and Basic Gray were in that group, if I remember right. Could someone else get the correct five colors?

You bet! Here's what SU posted:
Please note: Five ink colors have undergone formula changes to improve functionality and color stability with the new firm foam pads. These colors are
Basic Black
Basic Gray
Marina Mist
Perfect Plum
Tempting Turquoise

New ink pads
I'm glad SU is moving from the felt to the foam ink pads. I like the foam better. Are they keeping the same size and flip design of the old pads?
Thanks.

Yes, the design and size are the same (no worries for those who use the ink caddies)!
A very nice addition is a clear label with the color name on it that can be attached to the edge of the pad (making that color caddy more appealing )! The labels will be printed in several languages, so you select the one you want and apply it. That will be nice to have.

I've heard that the new ink can be used with clear stamps as well as rubber- can anyone confirm whether that's the case? Also, I'm wondering if the new ink will be useable with embossing powder. If not, I'd better hurry up and order some craft reinkers for my spots...

Has anyone heard if the new stamp pads will be archival ink? If not our scrapbooking customers will be going elsewhere. I also can't figure out how we're supposed to emboss without Craft inks. Any thoughts?

I read that they are supposed to work better with clear stamps.

So will these ink pads be as hard wearing as the old felt/fabric ones? I noticed after a while my foam ink pads (from other companies) started to break up and disintegrate!
How do the new foam pads take to getting a pounding from sponges for sponging cardstock?

I saw my SU Demo yesterday to pick up my new catalog. I asked her opinion of the new stamp pads.
This is what she said.
The new black is great and not purple
The new ink covers much better on solid stamps.
She only uses SU stamps so has no idea how they work on clear stamps
They do not hold as much ink so she is recommending people buy the reinker when they buy the new pad.
The old reinkers will not work on the new pads.
Over all she is very pleased with the new ink and pads
She is also very honest . If something is not up to par she will say "Well you can buy it if you really want it" or " Why don't you wait until they work out the bugs" ( such as the punch problems) LOL
When they do work out the problems she will tells and ask if we want to buy it now.
I like that about her

This is NOT correct. You can use the old refills on the new pads except for the five colors they reformulated!!!!
ETA: I'm not sure where she got the information about not holding as much ink either. Mine are plenty juicy and I don't think they will run dry for quite a while!

It's always good to hear it when people appreciate the demonstrators they work with! You might want to share with her an important clarification to the information she shared with you. All of the old reinkers work with the new ink pads, except for five colors that have been reformulated to work optimally with the new style. The only five reinkers that should not be used with the new firm foam pads are Basic Black, Basic Gray, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, and Tempting Turquoise. All of the other reinkers are fine with the new pads!
I'm curious about her comment regarding the new pads holding less ink do you know where her information came from?

That's crazy! I have used my new pads a lot and haven't had to re-ink anything! I think she needs to call DS. If anything, my pads may have TOO much ink!
I hope she reads all the info on the demo site and watches the video there too! That's where you find out about the info about the re-inkers and stuff!
The new pads are pretty awesome!

I'm not! I'm upset for your demo if she had to re-ink a pad already though! I meant that's crazy as in that shouldn't happen!
I know a couple of people who have had some issues with the new pads. That's why I suggested she call SU. Sounds like she got a dud!
I just want to make sure everyone...demos and customers alike....have the right info and great products, kwim?

No, the getting started collection is an assortment pack of popular colors. The other color collections were discontinued for everyone. It has nothing to do with the starter kit or being a demo....page 151.
Colors are:
Basic black
certainly celery
daffodil delight
early espresso
marina mist
night of navy
old olive
pretty in pink
pumpkin pie
real red
rich razzleberry
These were available last year as well. But again, no color families in spots at all.

All of the pads should be the foam now. Maybe it's just not updated?

Because all the colors are still current, you can only offer the felt pads for trade.
