So, was thinking about playing around with the wood sheets....But before I spend the $$, I thought I would ask here first!! What do you think of them? Are they easy to work with? Does stamping show up on them at all? Can you run they through the Big Shot easily? Do they cut nicely?

I've stamped successfully and liked the result. The one time I tried the Wizard it didn't turn out. Might have been that the die I tried was too detailed, might have been the particular type of wood, as some types are definitely more flexible than others. I might try again now I have a Big Shot.
I have had luck stamping on it. I haven't tried sutting it. The one I had was very flexible so I am thinking steel rule dies will work with it. I will have to give it a try. Thanks for reminding me!
I love wood sheets for paper crafting. I use them in my CB & BS. I like to paint and stamp on them. The thinner woods emboss beautifully. You can buy thin sheets of wood very cheap at your home improvement store. The last time I bought a wood sheet I think I paid under $2.00 for a large sheet. I still have plenty left over. I know it was a couple of years ago I bought my last sheet. I hope that helps.
You can stamp on it, but my suggestion is to use permanent ink and make sure your pad is 'juicy' so that you get a good imprint against the texture. It cuts great and you can also dry emboss it. Oh, make sure you store it inside a plastic bag to keep it from curling up. Check out a tutorial I did for Our Daily Bread designs a couple years ago....here. Have fun with it!!!
my first Christmas cards were made from thin sheets of balsa wood ( like Cub Scout cars- lol) and I stamped them in Stazon and clear coated them. - they were postcard size. My dh cut them to the size and routed the edges with a dremel tool. I still have one somewhere.
I've stamped and embossed on wood sheets (the only ones I have used are SU!'s wood sheets). These sheets cut easily and were a real joy to work with. I made a card with a wooden pin(broach) on it. The turtle was wooden.
I know you will appreciate this new palette. By the way, pattyb has done several things on wood sheets and she's a very delicate stamper. Her work on wood sheets is absolutely lovely.

Growing through challenges
I really thought I had uploaded this card to the SCS gallery - turns out I didn't!
I made the flowers with that paper thin wood sheet by stamping with Distress Ink, then used a water brush to fill in the color. I lost a lot of definition by doing this way, but that's part of using DI. The original stamping bled a little anyway - I would try a permanent ink but be ready for some bleeding.
Otherwise it was very easy to work with!

Wood sheets are SO much fun and lend themselves to some gorgeous cards and paper projects. I get my balsa sheets at Hub Hobby in MN (Cook Rapids I think) but they're now available on line. They're often used by model airplane enthusiasts so the hobby shops have a great selection. I like the 4" since I mostly make cards and that's the perfect layering size. I didn't do anything special with this card; just stamped in craft ink and dried it with my heat tool. I saw recently on JoAnn.com that they had cherry wood sheets for sale. Fun! So many of you posted such beautiful designs and uses that I can see I may need more wood sheets!

Please, what's the sandwich for using the SU wood sheets in the CB. I would love to die cut them an even emboss on it? Thanks for you help.
