Question software for sentiments

I had some software that was good for designing sentiments.
  • Lots of fun fonts
  • words in circles
  • cloud letter fonts

BUT we now have a new computer, new operating system and that software won't run on it.

Does anyone have software that can design digital sentiments?

Well, I've been playing around on Photoshop and on Microsoft Word.... neither does quite what I think would be easiest for digital sentiments. I KNOW there is a scrapbooking software out there that will work, but the descriptions don't tell you if you can design text in circles and other shapes. The old one I had did.

do you realize the MONEY we could SAVE by making our own digi sentiments? Save time by printing in colors, and we could make ANY sentiment into a digi stamp instead of relying on what is on the market right now.

There's a website called freedigitalstamps.blogspot.com that lists free digi stamps and sentiments every day. I've downloaded a lot of sentiments, both circles and others. It's well worth checking out.

Thanks so much for the link. I'd really like to create my own. I just need to find the right software

Default circle?

When you say printing in a circle, do you mean something roughly like this? (I know, I used a plain boring font & this is actually a fat oval, not circle - but I just tossed a quickie together to see if this was what you were talking about.

If not, sorry to intrude!

Yes, that's what I was talking about. What software did you use?

I don't have any 'special' software - I just use PaintShopPro. The same thing can be done with Photoshop or most any other standard graphics program that handles vector images.

Now, actually, I still work with PSP 7 -- just because I *like* it & don't need a lot of the "photo-editting" capabilities that were added in later versions - but again, same thing can be done w/ later versions or with other graphics programs.

If you want, I can put together instructions on doing it - what I did here was just a quickie "down-and-dirty" simple way of getting some text into a circle (oval, whatever shape you want) There are much "fancier" ways to do this, that allow for many more options - but that takes a few more steps than what I tossed together here....

Yes, thank you! I have paint shop pro and Photoshop but I only know how to work with photos and make animated gifs, nothing with text.

I bought a 10 dollar piece of scrapbooking software yest. that was supposed to work with my op system, but it doesn't:(

Two free programs that I use for creating sentiments are Inkscape and Silhouette Studio. Both have Windows and Mac versions. Inkscape is very powerful but has a bigger learning curve. Silhouette Studio is very easy for beginners. Though it is made for cutting, it is great for printing, too as you can lay out your card design so that the sentiment prints in a specific location. You can flow text along any path (circle, wave, etc), fill it with patterns, etc.

I design all my sentiments including card inserts in a little free program called DesignPro by Avery (you know...the label guys). I also use a freebie AMP Font Viewer to manage my downloaded free fonts that I use.

I started to type up stuff - then was afraid that my 'instructions' weren't too clear - and the more I tried to go back over them, I felt I was making it more muddled than ever - I'm not cut out to be a teacher, that's for sure LOL!

I looked around a bit, some of the sites went into too much detail & additional options that wouldn't be of much use for this purpose - but I found this one tutorial that gives a simple explanation of putting text on a curve (or any path you want) in PaintShop. Depending on which version you have, your toolbar may look a bit different, but the steps work the same regardless - just 'adjust' for the specific toolbars your programs displays....

anyway, this one seemed good to me...

Thanks Ravyn! I just bought Print Shop from Staples for 10.00 and I can do quite a bit with it! It's not the newest version, but for ten bucks I figured what did I have to lose? I can do everything that I want on it and Microsoft Word, except the text in a circle. I know I can do it in Photoshop, but the directions are complicated and I don't want complicated. I want user friendly! Print Shop is user friendly I did a sentiment on word this morning and it turned out real well.

I can't remember if I ended up with a copy of Paint Shop Pro on the new computer or not. I'll check it out and will try this tutorial if I have it
