I was just checking out the retiring accessories list and noticed several colors in accessories on the list such as crumb cake, cherry cobbler, etc. and it made me wonder if SU! is retiring certain colors other than the In Colors that are two years old.
Can I SU! Demo please give me correct info? Just wondering as I know SU! revamped the color families two years ago and if they are, isn't two years a bit soon to be renovating colors, yet again???
No, they're not retiring any colors besides the 2010-12 In colors. They're "reconfiguring" the stamp pads - they'll be a firm foam pad instead of felt. Make sense?
According to what I have heard, the 12 by 12 papers are being changed drastically. Only 15 indivdual colours will be in packages. If you want the other colours, you will have to buy colour families, where, if they are like they used to be, you will get 2 sheets of each colour. Might be a good time to buy some of your favourite colours.
Also, it seems that markers will only be available in packages. Makes me really glad that I am not a demo anymore.

I think some of the markers will be available individually, but others will have to be purchased in color groups. Of all the changes they're making, this is the one that bothers me the most. So if you run out of ink in one pen, you have to buy a whole color set in order to get a replacement? That's nuts.
Like you, Val, I'm glad I'm not a demo any more. Business must really be bad for SU. The new catalog will be smaller and on cheaper paper. And since it's no longer called an "Idea Book and Catalog," but just "Annual Catalog," I wonder if there will be as many (or any!) samples.

Luckily as long as the tips are good you can reink a marker using the reinkers. The colors in the getting started collection will be available individually. The rest will return to being available only in color groupings. We've only had the individual markers available for two years. SU did that by customer request. Unfortunately sales didn't pan out for them to continue that.

Jean, I'm sorry, but where did you get that info? That's actually incorrect. We've had them available individually all along...

Yep Betsy...my bad...and too many seizures while reading old documents. It's the markers from the previous neutrals package set we've only had as single colors for the last two years when the families were reformed. We have had the 4 basic families available as individual markers since 2000.

Disclaimer: yes, I know SU doesn't guarantee makers that have been reinked by the customer.
However, how do you reink a marker? I recently tried reinking one. I carefully removed the small writing tip with a pair of pliers. It came out easily, but then I couldn't get the ink to flow down into the barrel of the pen. I replaced the tip with no problem. Then I tried to remove the brush tip structure with the pliers, but it was very difficult to remove. I finally got it off. The center of the barrel had a foam-type thingy which absorbed the ink rapidly. So far so good. But then I couldn't get the tip structure to go back into place properly. I never did get it to "snap" into its original position. You can easily see that it's not down as far as it was originally. Any tips?
Can someone tell me which colors in 12 x 12 are not available separately in new book so I can stock up now?
I have the list of colors that are staying available as individual packs. /if your favorite isn't here, it will only be available in family collection packs.
