SU Retiring Accessories List is up now.
I was surprised to see some basic tools being retired:
Color Caddy extender kit
Craft & Paper Scissors
Mat Pack
Heat Tool
Paper Snips
Scrub & Refills

I was surprised to see several ink pads, reinkers, markers etc in pretty important to me colors!!! Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Real Red. Yikes! Are they really retiring them or just changing the packaging? Does anyone know?

I was surprised on a lot of the tools as well, however, I feel better about a few of the things based on what I know....
1. Mat Pack, Paper Piercer, Scrub Pad and Scrub refills are being "reconfigured". That means they will still be around just might be sold slightly differently, like in a tool bundle or something.
2. Ink pads are changing for the better (too bad I have all the colors already). Stampin' Up! is moving to a new "firm foam" pad for all of the classic ink pads. This should allow for better ink coverage when inking up your stamp. So, no, the colors aren't retiring, they are just changing the physical pad. Whew!!
Oh, except for craft ink pads... apparently we are only going to be carrying black and white starting in June. :/
Hope that helps!
But boy am I sad about a couple of the punches (5-petal flower!) and dies (matchbox, alphabets, numbers!!)

Phew! Thanks for letting me know about that! I was honestly stressed out (lol). Sounds good about a new style of stamp pad.
I was pretty sad about the punches too - lots of good punches retiring - and some of the dies. Also a little sad the treat cups are retiring. I love making little cards with those.
I'm curious to see what new goodies are in store for us!

Here's what's surprised me!
Most of the Classic inkpads and markers-I wonder too if they're redesigning them, getting another manufacturer or simply changing the labels?
Bunches of the 12 by 12 smooth cardstock colors-looks as if it's only going to be in variety packs, boo!
All the textured cardstock-never liked it anyway
Paper holders
All the Craft inks-maybe being reformulated?
Paper cutter and all the other tools mentioned.
This is going to hit demos hard, unless they will be allowed to use old accessories in workshops.

A Muse Studio's ink pads (which are pigment not water-based) are the firm foam and I love it. It works really well on all types of stamps.
Can't wait to see what the new catty has in store for us.

Thank you so much for posting this! I was so upset to see so many colors on the retiring list when they just updated the colors. So I'm relieved to hear they're just reconfiguring the ink pads.

I think those are likely actually retiring for good. I only see notes about the core colors being reconfigured.

Ink
Be sure you get refills for the pads you already own because they are also going with a new formula for the ink.

I read somewhere (probably my demo's blog or in an email from her) that the new formula refills will work in the old inkpads but the old formula refills will not work with the new formual inkpads.
So, if one has reached their budget (like me and I still need to pare my list down) getting refills can wait unless you have dry pads.

I had a lot of the same questions, but it looks like they've all been answered here.
I am sooooo excited to see the new catalog. I don't think SU is going to let us down.
I think they're going to surprise us with a lot of new, updated things. I sure hope so.

Does anyone know what's going on with all of their markers? There is no * next to them saying they are going to be reconfigured.

I don't know the details, but I understand that the markers are not going all be available to purchase one at a time. Some of the more popular colours will be available individually, others will have to be purchased in groups. I don't know any more details than that.

I just finally broke down and bought the tempting turquiose. The new pads sound really good, I always wondered why SU made their pads so hard? But on the other hand, if they are more "squishy" then more of my stamp will be covered with ink than I want. I will have to wait and try out the new ones to see how they work.

They are.
All the ink pads are changing.
Only five of the actual inks are changing. Colors the same ... ink 'type' changing.

Do any demos know if the new ink pads will fit into the ink caddies? I wondered since they are retiring the ink caddy extender kit.

I had asked this question on a different thread and was told that the case will still be the same and inks will fit into the caddy.

I tried to place an order through my Demo yesterday and guess what...it's out of stock already. I wish they would keep Blushing Bride as a core color and drop Pink Pirouette

It appears they are retiring all of the satin ribbon, which has me totally sad and I just placed an order to make sure I get some extra Basic Black satin ribbon. I would love for something like that in the new catalog but I won't be able to see for sure until May 7th. So far all the sneak peek/preorder stuff has had no hint of satin ribbon. :(

I saw a link on another thread that had something about '3/8" stitched satin ribbon' so whatever that is maybe its replacing the plain satin they have now?? I can't imagine they'd do stitched satin AND plain but maybe....

Based on the pictures I saw of the new SU! ink pads, they don't look like they are the same as the a|s ones. (I'm also an a|s consultant ) I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
Are the classic spots being re-done too, or are they getting rid of them completely?

The classic ink spots are not being redone and they are mostly going away. After the new catalog comes out, only the "getting started" collection will be available (it has 11 ink spots in a range of colors). So, if you love spots, this is the last month for many of them.

You can buy uninked foam and felt stamp spots (like the SU craft and dye ink ones) from Frantic Stamper.
