TLC372 ~ Faux Dry Embossing ~ (4/09/12)
Hello everyone!! We have had a house full of family the last two days...we celebrated several birthdays yesterday and Easter today....hope you had a wonderful Easter Sunday!!! All the food has been put away, the dishes are done, and the kitchen is clean (where was my Fairy Godmother when I needed her??) so now I am ready to get crafty!! Are you ready for a fun and easy technique??
How many times have you wanted to dry emboss the background on your project but didn't have the right embossing folder?? Well, your troubles are over because we are going to create our own faux dry embossing!!!
This technique is really simple....you just need punches or dies.
1. Punch or diecut the shapes you want out of the same color as your background
2. Adhere the shapes to the background...I used glue but you can also use glue dots or run the pieces through the Xyron Create-a-sticker machine
3. Create your design
4. You can find a tutorial created by Beate in Splitcoast's Resourse Section
How easy is that??!!??

Happy Stamping!!!

Joan, this was a fun challenge. Here is my card. After I added the flowers and butterflies for my faux dry embossed look, I put the card base through the Cuttlebug with the A, B and C plates to push them flatter so they'd look more natural.

Thanks, Joan, this was fun! I don't have a sticker machine, but my Cuttlebug with Scor Tape worked really well. Well, I should add worked well with a Cuttlebug die; the SU! Sizzlits die did not make it through.

I removed my card because I don't think it qualifies for the faux dry embossed technique since I didn't run it through the cuttlebug, but I definitely want to try this, it looks beautiful!

Joan, a fun technique...and a new one to me. I had saved these pieces weeks ago when I used this PTI die....they just seemed like they could have a use, but I didn't know what. Today you provided me with the use! Thanks!

Bridget....please repost you card!!! There are several ways to do faux embossing, no real right or wrong!! I know that not everyone has a Cuttlebug so I wanted the challenge to be doable for everyone!!! I just know your card is fabulous and we all would love to see it!!!!

I love the look of the faux dry embossing and have combined it with the colour challenge of Tangerine Tango, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight. I am very happy with the result. Here it is.
